Hello and welcome to the Christmas edition of Late Nighting Concert. Well, pop and rock music's often accused of being more to do with fashion than musical flair, but then along comes Suzanne Vega, a stunning study in simplicity. Her songs are based on observations of her life in New York City and they're rich in imagery, which has led this 25-year-old American to be hailed as a new poet. Actually, she started off as a dance student at the High School for Performing Arts, as in fame, I wanna live forever, but music soon took her over and she was discovered in Greenwich Village. She had a top 20 hit here with Marlena on the wall, and tonight we see her at her first major concert in England in November at the Royal Albert Hall and just watch the magic effect she has on the audience and wait for her breathtaking finale, Suzanne Vega.
