Grodin's in front of him and he just goes down. And I wonder if Grodin got mixed up in that. He seemed to a lot. So Honon's out of it. Grodin in about third placing. I'd just say he's been disappointing the Soviets. He clipped his heels but he was still in good position. He still shouldn't have affected him at all unless he pulled off a spike. Yes, unless he's had a miss out there or been injured in some way. Unless he was spiked badly and it's affected him. So Grodin goes out but the four to go through are Cruz, the defending champion, the ring of Kenya, the boy of Senegal and Abdu'nu of Algeria. World record, Sepp Kowat 141.73, Kowat not here. And this is a line up for the second of the second round. It's a tough one. Gray, fastest man in the world. Omar, 144 man. Drupers, a medallist at the World Championships in 83. McKean, second at the European Championships in 86. Barbosa, a medallist at the World Championships last year. And Diwa, who was a semi-finalist in Los Angeles. 146.10 in the first. What do we expect here, Ron? I think Gray might even go below that. I think Gray runs an easy 145. And he did look very good in his first round heat. It could be tough for a couple behind. Now McKean and Drupers are both similar athletes. They like to kick down off a slow pace. Barbosa didn't look quite as good in his first round heat because he's been one of the front runners all year. There's Johnny Gray, fastest man in the world this season. Has a best of 142.6. And was a finalist in Los Angeles. There's Omar, 144 man. Drupers, second in Helsinki at the first World Championships in 83. But he's been disappointing since. McKean, medallist at the European Championships. Barbosa, third at the World Championships last year. Diwa, semi-finalist in Los Angeles. Canadian Hoogerworth in seven. And Laabi, who was fifth at the World Championships last year. This is a loaded heat. It is indeed. So away from the outside is Laabi, Hoogerworth, Diwa, Barbosa going out hard in the Brazilian tradition. The crews are certainly set up. And Gray looks very comfortable in one. He's going to hold Barbosa out. And Omar's tucked in behind them. So it's Gray, Barbosa, Laabi, Hoogerworth, Omar on his heels. McKean moving up. And then at the back, it's Drupers. So Gray looking comfortable with Barbosa outside of him. Laabi, only four to go through. Hoogerworth, then McKean, Omar, Diwa, and at the back, Drupers have slowed up. Yes, he decided to make it an easy sort of a hit. He'll run on the inside and try and keep Barbosa out all the way. Sorry. That's OK. Well, he looks a bit like him. He's certainly got the same singlet on. 52.38. They do run a similar style. They love to go up near the front. So let's see if Gray can be challenged in this final lap. Barbosa behind him. Hoogerworth, the Canadian, is really just hanging on with Laabi. Laabi could get through, fifth at the Worlds last year. Not so impressive. Now McKean, fifth. Diwa gets around him. So McKean hasn't responded to Diwa's challenge. And he's lost a spot. Now he's in a bad position, McKean. He was a finalist last year and one of the favorites in Rome. And he's in an awful spot. So Gray's got them stacked up. Barbosa. Hoogerworth could get through with a bit of luck. Laabi. McKean's desperate, he's going to have to shove somebody out of the road. In the stretch. Gray. Barbosa. Now McKean, he's given Diwa a shove. And now Drupers, he's in trouble. Kenny Barge is way through. He has. He'll qualify. There could be a protest. Gray. Hoogerworth a surprise. Barbosa. McKean. But he just shoved them out of the way. Firstly Diwa and then Drupers. But again, Gray looked very, very good. Gray was very impressive indeed. He ran a very good race. But I think McKean's in lots of trouble. He fights his way through in all sorts of problems in that way. He runs himself into a problem and then uses his strength to get out of it. And I think he's done it once too often. You think he might be disqualified? I would say so, yes. Okay, so let's have a look at this incident with McKean. Gray leading with Barbosa. Laabi. Hoogerworth. And McKean. And here's where McKean gets into all sorts of trouble. He's running himself into an awful spot there. He has to get out somehow. The guy's infading back in front of him. He's tried the Kenan now. He's just pushed Drupers way out. Drupers might have had a chance, but he's got no chance now because McKean pushed him away. So I'd say McKean's in all sorts of trouble. There's a very good chance he will be put out by the officials. Gray Hoogerworth has run very well for the Canadians. Good day for Canada. Barbosa. Is Barbosa going well enough to win? No, no, I don't think so. I think Gray is though. So Gray's certainly a chance. And at this stage, McKean has got through for fourth. But it's doubtful whether he'll hold that position. And Omar may be the lucky man to get through. So Johnny Gray and Joachim Cruz, two of the frontrunners, two of the big favourites of the 800, are through to tomorrow's semi-finals. And this is going to be fascinating, the next one. But here's Cruz, 146.10, Arring 146.38. Boy, an abdenu going through. And the disappointment there was the Soviet gorge in at 147.07. He's run 144 this year. Result of the first heat. In the third heat, they've brought together Saeeda Weeta and Steve Cram. Two men that haven't raced one another for three years. The last time they got together, they both broke the world record in the 1500 metres. It's strange seating, Ron, but it doesn't upset you too much. It doesn't at all. I don't think they should have any vested interest in not running against each other. I think they should just draw them as they would ordinarily do. After all, it's not their number one event. The 1500 metres for both of them, I think, is their number one event. If they can sneak a medal in this, they're going very well indeed. And I'm just looking at their form yesterday. I don't think they will. I think that there are too many good frontrunners in it, too many good pure 800-metre runners. So they're the two superstars, Weeta and Cram. Weeta, who's the world record holder at 1500 metres, 2000 metres, and 5000 metres, and has the world best at two miles. No official world record to two miles, but he's the only man to have broken 13 minutes for 5000. There's Nixon Kipritich, who was very impressive in his first round. Babakar Nyang, who's run 144.7. Slobodan Popovic, world student champion last year, finalist at the world championships. Tomas Therese, a 146.8 man from Spain. Robin Van Hilden, a 145.17 man from Holland. Cram, 142.88, one of the all-time greats at 1500. Pablo Sqwella in lane 8, 145.98. Cram, who beat Cruz when Cruz was flying, when he ran his 142.88. Didn't look so good yesterday. Let's see what he's like today. So the first time that Cram and Weeta have been together for three years. The last time they produced something magnificent. We don't expect them to hit here. So Sqwella from the outside. Cram normally drops out at the back, and so does Weeta. Now Weeta's allowed himself to get right back with Kipritic at the start. They're a mile back, and Cram's out very wide. So there's going to be a technical go. First four through, and Popovic, who normally comes home with a rush, is leading. Sqwella, Van Hilden. Cram's decided to put himself up closer. He's fourth. Fifth Therese. Then Nyang. Two from the back, Kipritic and Weeta last. You can see that Weeta is not really comfortable in the speed that they go off at this. In this sort of a race. He likes to come through. He's really open flat out to run as fast a quarter as any of these chaps. But his stamina is such that he'll come through at the end. Don't put him out just because he's running behind now. Well, Kipritic looks quite magnificent out wide here at the bell. Cram in second placing. So Popovic takes them to the lead, and Cram and Kipritic sails up third. Then Therese of Spain. Weeta is one from the back now. First four to go through, and let's see what Weeta can do in the back straight. He's about to do it. Popovic, Cram, Kipritic and Weeta is in fourth place. Loves to win, Weeta. Rarely gets beaten in any sort of a race. And Kipritic went past Cram. And now we're going to see what sort of form Steve Cram's in. Will he qualify? I don't know. I doubt it. At this stage he's going to have to find something. Popovic's is away. Now Cram winding up Kipritic, Weeta and Nyang. Were the racers on to qualify here? Cram's had a look around and he's in trouble. Popovic in front. Look at Weeta's steam home. Cram won't qualify. He's out in the second round of sensation. Weeta loves winning and he does it again. Refuses to be beaten. Popovic second, Nyang third. Kipritic was found wanting, but not as much as Steve Cram. That's what we thought yesterday. The way he ran yesterday I was not very impressed with him at all. Doesn't really count much for his 1500m confidence. If I had have been Cram I would have pulled out of this beforehand. Not just to back off a race, but because he just wasn't running confidently enough. And I think he needed the extra two or three days to freshen up for the 1500m. And let the others worry about the 800m. Well we learned something there Ron. That Cram is struggling. He really asked himself here. And 10m before that it looked like he was in trouble. Weeta's a great athlete and he was able to round him up. And what about Kipritic's form in the straight? Well Kipritic was running all over the place. But he was flat to tack in the straight. He just ran very very badly down the back straight. He runs wide. He looks around all the time. He's very inexperienced. But on this form, Weeta's got the stamina to run past any of them. It's just a matter of whether he can stay with the pace of the crews in the grays. It's going to be a wonderful final. Semifinals tomorrow. Kipritic looks back and he knows that Cram's too far away. So the great man from Morocco sails into the semifinal with Popovic and Niang. And the big story out of that second round heat was that Cram has missed out. Let's take a break and we'll be back with more. You're watching the 1988 Olympic Games on Network 10. Music Beautiful. Not a bad drop of red there. Club World delivers the businessman ready to do business. Pleasant trip. Yes, thank you. Club World from the world's favorite airline. Hello, it's your uncle Arthur, isn't it? I'm watching the Olympics on Channel 10. So, for the next two weeks the company's having a little bit of a holiday. But we'll be back on Sunday, the 9th of October at 7.30 p.m. So, we'll see you then. Good on you, kid. Welcome back to the Olympic Stadium. Day eight of the Games of the 24th Olympiad. Bruce McEvaney, probably, well, arguably the greatest day in track and field history of the Olympic Games today. I won't argue with that, Graham. I felt that hour around lunchtime was the best I've ever seen in track and field. And we've had some more drama here with Steve Cramp being run out of the second round of the 800 meters. This is the fourth heat of the second round, fourth and final heat. First four to go through. And Donato Savio of Italy leads them through in 53.11. He was a finalist in 1984 and has practically done nothing since. It's been a very bad day for the Brits in this, but Peter Elliott's about to do something about it. Elliott has taken it away into the last lap. He was third last year, or second last year, at the World Championships. Savio in second placing, Silva of Portugal third, then Travato and Braun coming through for West Germany. It looked a softer heat, Ron, and Elliott's done the right thing. He hasn't mucked around. Absolutely. It's the best way of doing it. I don't understand why they wait for the final straight all the time and often get themselves run into very bad positions like Tom McKean did. Here Elliott has set the perfect example. A fairly slow first lap. He's run himself into a great position up the back straight. Now he can ease off if he wants to down the straight. He can just dictate where he wants to finish. Elliott leading. Savio looks in good form again. We haven't really seen him for four years. Silva's going to go through, and will Braun hang on? He does. So Ostrowski's missed out the pole in sixth place, who was fourth in the World Championships last year. 146.59. Savio has got high speed. He's run a 45-400, but he's been injured for much of the last four years. Quietly impressive there along with Elliott. Elliott looks good for the final. Savio a possibility. So we've seen four heats, the four rounds. Elliott leading Savio. Silva from Portugal and then Braun of West Germany. I was more impressed with Savio than Elliott as a matter of fact. I think Elliott's got this habit. He runs so badly. He's a very poor looking runner. He always looks as though he's tired anyway. But Savio was very, very impressive. I mean he's running very easily. And without knowing about it, he's sort of up on Elliott's shoulder and he's looking around while he does it. Middly Elliott's taken off full steam, but I don't know. I think Savio was more impressive than Elliott there. He's a sweeter mover. There's no doubt about that. Elliott does find a lot. He's got a big heart. Silva third and Braun had to make a dash for it to just hang on for fourth. So he qualifies. Semifinals tomorrow are going to be outstanding, aren't they? It's going to be tough tomorrow, aren't they? I hope they don't draw a cruise and a grey in the one semifinal. Surely they won't do that. That means that both of them are going to be fully hardly run. So the news for the 800 metres is that a wheat has got through safely, cruises through safely, and so is Johnny Gray. But Steve Cramme was a casualty from the second round. Graham, in about a half an hour's time, one of the great men of track and field will be running in the semifinal of the 400 hurdles. Edward Moses will be coming back for that. All right, Bruce. What a marvellous day it's been out at the Olympic Stadium. Absolutely stunning on day eight of the Games. There's plenty more action still to come to. Right now we're going to go out to the Chamseul Gymnasium for this basketball clash with Spain and Brazil. Here's Phil Lynch. Yes, thanks, Graham, out here at the Chamseul Gymnasium. Spain leading by four points, 82 points to 78 over Brazil. And this game, a vital one to Australia's chances because the way the pools are shaping up, these are the last games in the first round being played today. And the winner of this game, it would seem, will meet Australia when they cross over in the quarterfinals. So the Australians, they're at the moment getting ready to play the next game, but they're sitting in the crowd at the moment looking at this one with a lot of interest. As Brazil would tip to win it, but it's been Spain right throughout as Epi fires away for Spain. Can't connect. In fact, the Brazilians come with Ricardo pushing the ball up the floor to the big man, Rolando. Can't score. Two on two at the other end. As Solosobal gets the ball up to the hands of Firoukov. And Firoukov with two on the end of the fast break. And the Spanish lead is extended to six. 84-78. It's been around that margin all the way through the game. Oscar has scored 37 points for Brazil. Magnificent shooting performance. And there's another two. That's 39. He's the only one they really haven't been able to stop. Marcel's been able to score a bit, but not as much as he has in other games. Gerson's on at the bench in foul trouble. And Joe, the second pick setter in the game at the moment. He was the one who incurred that foul, and that's his second. It's the 10th team foul against Brazil. And speaking of Gerson, there he comes back into the ball game again. As they send Joe out. So Gerson comes back in. And on the free throw line, Jimenez. Who was absolutely outstanding in the first half with 17 very early points. But it was the bench player, Marjol, who came in. That's Joe taking his seat on the Brazilian bench. But Marjol for Spain came in and connected on five and seven from outside the three-point line. To really keep the Spanish offense going. 86 points to 80, Spain leads now. And you just wonder whether Brazil can get up in this, but they're such an unpredictable team. That foul goes against the backcourt man for Spain, Solosobal. That's only their 15th foul, but Solosobal's third. They've got Martín, the opening center, on three. Solosobal on three and Marjol with three. So a few players with a bit of trouble there. Here's Oscar. Gets that shot away again. Can't get it to drop. The Spaniards come away, create numbers at the other end of the floor. Eppie takes it to the hole. Can't score. Good defense coming from Marcel, who breaks out of the backcourt himself. And in fact it's Eppie who grabs him. Somewhat in frustration, one would think, missing the layup. So Eppie sends the Brazilians back to the other end of the ball, the floor with the ball. And it's going to be Ricardo to bring the ball in. So still a six-point ball game. And the Spaniards really blew a great chance there to add a further two to the lead. Ricardo, met by Solosobal. Marcel trying to break loose of his shadow. Eppie, the two-point shot coming off the free-throw line there from Oscar. You can keep him quiet for a couple of minutes. Then he's likely to explode on you and really blow you away. Eppie, on the outside to Birjukoff. Solosobal at the wing. He takes up a more regulation position now at point. They send the cutters through, open up Eppie. Penetration, dishes on the outside to Solosobal. Can't connect with the three. And the Brazilians often running through Ricardo. Marcel on the left, Gerson on the right. But Ricardo just hung onto it a bit too long. And Solosobal is forced into the foul on him. So that'll be number four on Solosobal. And that might bring some decisions from Coach Diaz Miguel, the Spanish coach. The Spaniards, the team, as we see Solosobal's foul in replay, that won the silver medal in Los Angeles. Brazil has pretty much the same team they went to LA in. In fact, they've got the same starting five. And a big elbow in the head there for Oscar. And that will be a Spanish ball in the front court. Oscar, in fact, I think the elbow connected with his shoulder. He's still trying to flex a bit there. But there's part of the Spanish crowd. Both teams have had plenty of support. Solosobal goes out, sits with those four fouls. And into the game comes Montero. So Montero taking over at the point as Eppie takes it to the wing and scores. 87, 28 points to 82 now. With 11 minutes remaining. So the Spaniards have taken out to a six-point break on a number of occasions. Every time they have, Brazil has come back. But Brazil haven't had a sniff of the lead since very early in the ball game. Ricardo gets the pick there from Oscar. Plenty of weight on the pick. Gerson has the shot blocked. In fact, it came off his arms last. Referee from Argentina, Mr. Rubenstein, was absolutely correct with the call. But Oscar winning the ball back at the other end off him, Ainas. Oscar playing a little one-on-five basketball here. Takes it in down low. And a clean block again, the referee says. Oscar is absolutely incensed on the floor in the back court. Ricardo tries to shake the ball loose from Montero. And they get things sorted out again in the front court. So Montero holding it up in the back in the hands of Biriukov. The cut has come across. Jimenez ends up on his back with a little bit of play acting there. Got a bit of a bump but made a bit more of it than it really occurred. Outside the shot comes from Montero. It's for three. Spain increases its lead. It's 91-82. We'll take a break from the basketball and back to you in the studio, Graham Hughes. Yes, thanks Phil Lynch. Unfortunately, all the headlines today on day eight of the game for the 24th Olympiad haven't been about gold medals and they haven't been about the world record times run by the likes of Ben Johnson. In fact, two Americans, Troy Dolby and also Doug Gerson, who were in the successful four by 100 freestyle relay team for the United States last night, gold medal winners, they have been arrested and charged with stealing and they've been confined to the Olympic Village. The disciplinary action to be taken by the USA is going to be announced tomorrow morning. Sensations today on day eight both on and off the competition venues. We'll take a break then be back with more. Music Afternoon, I'm Tony Ryan. Police have still found no trace of the five men who escaped from the maximum security section of Boggaro Jail last night. The five cut through security mesh and then climbed over a wall with a rope made of knotted sheets. They were serving sentences of between eight and 20 years. One of the men was jailed for drug trafficking and there have been reports in the past of a plot to free him from prison. Police say the five definitely had outside help. Currently 23 degrees and I'll have more news from Expo in one hour. Music Cordless vacuum cleaners are perfect for cleaning up in tight corners and for those little accidents around the house. You're watching the greatest sporting event of them all, the Olympic Games live from Seoul in South Korea, right round Australia on Network 10. Let's go back to the basketball with Phil Lynch. Yeah, thanks Graham. 9 minutes to go in the game here and the Spaniards have skipped away by 11 points, 95 points to 84. And what is a minor ball over because the Brazilians were tipped going into this game. The Spaniard form hadn't looked too good in early games but they really turned it on this one and playing their best basketball at the end of the tournament. And that's when you want to do it. 97-84 they lead now and there's a foul on the outside. That one's gone against Epi and a player been hit in the head there is Costas Rikas making the call. The Greek referee who a lot of people are tipping to referee the final is one of the better credentialed referees here. But the foul against Epi is the fourth against him. So a couple of the Spaniards in foul trouble, Solosobal, the starting guard who's on the bench at the moment. He's sitting there with four fouls. They've opted to leave Epi there for the moment. Brazil wants to make a change. Marcel getting ready to come in and he takes out Paolo. So they're getting back to a starting five out there. The only one of the starters not on the court in fact is Israel. He's sitting on the bench with four fouls. And plenty of support for the Brazilians but there's a large Spanish contingent here. Oscar at the free throw line again. 41 points against his name. Make that 42. So as you can understand he's contributed most of the points of their 86. And up the Spanish come again. Way too easy underneath the basket. Oscar over the back with a block. Blocked the first shot. But it was Arcega who did well to stay with it. Gerson fires the shot off the Brazilians. It's all Spain on the boards. They punch it out of the back court. Epi almost losing it but just able to hang on. And it's Montero who controls things in the back court now. They're going to play some half court offense. Biriukov on his left. Marcel right out on the guard. But the Brazilians, their defensive resources are being called upon here and that's an area of the game that they're not as good at as the other end of the court. A push in the back there. It's against Oscar who just went out and kicked the support. Coach Vidal up off the bench. He knows he's got some problems here. The result of this game will see the winner playing one would think Australia when they cross over in the quarterfinals. The loser will be determined by result a little later today. Their opponent that is, is Sega fires off the free throw line. So a 14 point break as time marches on. Under 8 minutes to go in the game now. And off the free throw line and missing. Running it down in the corner. Pretty well run down too by Oscar to keep it alive. So Mowry back for the Brazilians. Marcel trying to take the baseline drive and gets the shot up there but blocked by Martinez. They couldn't make the shot on the end of it. So they've had their opportunities but not taking them too well. And the Spanish came them at the other end from Montero. Breaking the ball out of the back court and a 16 point break with 7 and a half minutes to go. One would think that's too much to overcome. Marcel fired off from outside the three point line. In fact he was hit by Margelle. So it'll be Marcel to go to the free throw line to shoot three. Well two shots the referee says. But he looked like he was outside the three point circle to me. The foul must have occurred after the shot. So in fact he's asking to shoot one and one. With both teams in the bonus and he makes the first. So we get a second. 7.27 remaining and it's 1.02 to 87. The Brazilians, the people in the crowd they're quieting for the moment. But if Oscar hits the string they'll certainly light up. It's 102 to 88. Biriukov, the former Soviet junior who was a teammate of Arbitus Sabonis at junior championships a couple of years ago. Pushing the ball up out of the back court. Takes it past Marcel but not before he was fouled. So the foul is starting to come thick and fast now. And Biriukov will go to the free throw line. Substitution in fact timeout called by the Brazilians now with 7 minutes and 12 seconds remaining in the game. A 14 point break. We'll have a look at that move from Biriukov again. Marcel right up on him there and a tiring Marcel it would seem. Biriukov who spent all the first half on the bench. In fact came in with eight seconds to play in the first half. Doing a job in the second and coach Vidal he's got some real problems. This is a tough team to coach. So with the score here at Spain 102 Brazil 88 it looks like the Spanish could win out winners here Graham. They certainly do. Thanks Phil Lynch. Let's go straight back now to the men's gymnastics. This time it's the parallel bars routine with Liukin and Atomov of the Soviet Union. Now his carryover score also includes a 10 on this apparatus from competition one. And Peter I think he was the only one to score a 10 in competition one. I believe so Frances. So he's really got a small advantage here. Beautiful flares facing out. Healy turn. The Soviets very light on their hands on this apparatus and of course that raises the value. A small hop on landing. Good double somersault but it's these small flaws which cost them places in these very important finals. In the replay you can see these excellent movements taken from men's pommel horse double leg circles. Moving into a flare very difficult indeed particularly on the end of the rails and unique in facing out. The Soviets very light on their hands and that increases the completeness of the movements. Makes it look totally effortless and there's a double soldo. Bent legs in that last soldo but he's received a 9.95 and that will give him a total of 19.95. Definitely hard to catch. And of course the next gymnast is the man who's leading the competition. The Olympic all round individual gold medalist at present leading on this difficult apparatus the parallel bars with a score of 9.975 from the USSR. Vladimir Artemov. Magnificent Felga to handstand. Straight arms. Felga half turn to handstand and giant to handstand. Beautiful high V-sit. Now Artemov is the present world champion on this event so he's possibly got the edge. No errors so far. Just that small hop there. And one small step isn't good enough to overtake his teammate Liukin. So the two smallest errors in that routine. Possibly see them in replay. Felga handstand with half turn. Beautiful giant swing. And here it is. 9.95 for Artemov and that gives him a 19.925 putting him just ahead of Liukin. Great performance by those Soviets and on a day where Ben Johnson really did make it his own day 80 of the games of the 24th Olympiad the VFL grand final back home. It's a cricket match Hawthorne just about wrapping it up already at halftime well and truly over. Come back to us in Seoul for a play more competitive action. The grand finals gone in Melbourne. You're playing a game. Australians have a party. We don't need a reason at all. Australia loves a buster. You know the world does too. There's nothing like a buster. There's nothing like a buster. That's true. Well Ken you've done it. Four speed auto, overdrive, big fuel injected V6. Thanks Ron. It has got to be the best six ever put in the hole. I thought you'd like it. I'm joking aren't you. It's fantastic. You guys really must feel proud of it. We love it. We love it. Cheers for times. Will you marry me? No. Yes. I do not say I love you. You propose to me. Soon on Brisbane 10. Day of high drama and history. Day eight. The games for the 24th Olympiad. Ben Johnson a gold medal. 100 metres final and with it to boot a new world record. Of course that drama that I mentioned a few moments ago. Two of the American four by one hundred freestyle relay gold medal winners. Troy Dalby and Doug Jertson have been arrested and charged with stealing. More on that of course as the news continues to break later on. Of course all those will be updated in 10's news. Let's go back to the basketball now with Phil Lynch. Thanks Graham back here at the basketball. It's still spying up by 14 points 112 to 98. And just repeating what I was telling you before. The winner of this game will go ahead. It would seem if everything goes according to Hoyle with a couple of games still to come today. The winner of this game will play Australia when they cross over for the quarterfinals. The loser will take their place against the Soviet Union in the quarterfinals. A little bit of a difference there. Obviously that's why Brazil plays so much importance on this one. They went into the game as favourites. But the Spaniards have started to show the form that took them to the silver medal in Los Angeles. And lead now in fact by 16 points on that free throw with three minutes and 41 seconds remaining. So look to have this game locked up. Oscar firing up a desperation three pointer there and hitting it. But unless the Spaniards do a whole lot wrong that's 51 points now to Oscar. Played a lone hand but hasn't had too much from his team mates. Highest score of any individual in this competition. In fact Oscar heading them at 37.5 points a game. His 51 will up his average just a couple more points in this one. But he's clear of the next high score by a long shot. Andrew Gaze is in fact the third leading scorer in the games as the Spaniards keep it alive. Nothing going the Brazilians way at all. They come out lazily almost to play some defence as they know it's pretty much a forlorn hope here. Solosaba with Marcel up on him. Joe tries to get the intercept. The Spaniards playing with it. Three point shot comes up which is short from Montero. And there's been another hit underneath the hoop which will send the Spaniards or the Brazilians to the free throw line at the other end. The foul goes against that man Arcega. So 101 points Brazil, 114 Spain and a very high scoring encounter with two and three quarter minutes to go. Joe the back up centre it is who goes to the free throw line. And not quite connecting there as the Spaniards clean up the rebound. They've shown a lot more enthusiasm than the Brazilians in this game and that has certainly got them high because of the business start of the game. They really put the pressure on. It was too much for the Brazilians to handle and they're being rewarded here. On the outside they go with Solosaba in the back court. They've got Marjol on the left hand wing. Arcega in on the post at the moment. Playing with pretty much a second five. Only one starter out there. They're resting their stars at the moment as Oscar pushes the ball out of the back court and fires off for three. He's been hit. I think the referee is going to put him on the line to shoot three. So he's hit well outside the three point line. It wasn't a very smart foul. But still there's very that makes it must make a lot of mistakes from now on in if they're going to get beaten. And there's the foul that comes from Montero. So it'll be three shots to Oscar. He's hit 51 points in this ball game. Not only does he hit a lot of points he hits some of the pretty good percentage as well. He's been shooting 91 percent for the tournament off the free throw line. 59 percent from the field and in fact 48 percent from outside the three point line. Magnificent shooting. Generally players don't shoot more than about 35 percent from outside the circle. But this fellow is absolute scoring machine. Plays these days in Italy for the big dollars. 54 points he's got against his name. 104 114. So Brazil back within 10. But there's only two minutes to go. Certainly it's winnable for Brazil. But there'll be a lot of Spanish mistakes come in for them to do it. They take some more time off the clock in the back court. The handoff into the safe hands of Solosobal. Penetration underneath. There's been another hit. Another Spaniard will go to the free throw line. The foul I think will go against Joe. There he is. The big man on screen. Have a look at it again. The penetration from Solosobal. Underneath they go to Montero. And Montero hit on the way to the free throw line.
