Green it to George Spencer George tackled at his 35 yard line. Looked to be Austin Robbins in on the stop. That's about all you can call on third and 32 a little middle screen and Saints ready for it and Titans will punt it away. Saints defense has acquitted itself pretty well tonight. The offense has done virtually nothing as the scoreboard reflects it's 8-0 with 740 here to play in the third quarter. Jeff Fisher under some pressure here in Nashville. The owner Bud Adams came out in the off season and said we need to go to the playoffs or I'm going to clean house after three consecutive eight and eight seasons. That would represent a great deal of progress. Here's Hendrick pitching it downfield. Trying to kill the ball inside the 10 and it takes a nice bite just like his wedge shots do. And the Titans will cover it inside the New Orleans 10 yard line so the horrible field position for the Saints offensively continues here with 714 to play third quarter and the Titans leading 8-0. I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. Hey I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. The Daily Advertiser Louisiana's fastest growing daily newspaper. A home delivery called 289-6354. Martin is in trouble. Tomorrow at 6 on Fox 15. You're watching Fox 15 Catch It. Join us later in the game as we select the Saints play of the game brought to you by Wagner's Meat. Welcome back. The Saints down 8-0. I figured out why Ricky Williams didn't want to talk to me in the second quarter. You say he was hungry. He and a couple of other players. Cam Cleland, Jared Thomas just spent the half time eating and watching the band. He was just hungry. That's it. He likes meat. First and 10. Here's DeLong throwing it to Twyner and Gunnar Twyner makes the reception up at the 20 yard line. Same play that Jake started the first quarter with. Three step drop throwing the slant pattern. This time to Twyner instead of Keith Poo. This one's not called back. Jake 2 of 6, 25 yards in the first half. The Saints continue with their no huddle offense. Kevin Sigler on the tackle. First and 10 New Orleans up at their 19. DeLong who was 2 out of 6 for 25 yards in the first quarter. Victimized by poor production and also a few drops. DeLong's setback behind it. DeLong throwing and it's going to be incomplete. Juggled and dropped by Dane and Hughes. And the coverage on the corner by McCullough. McCullough jumped in front. Tried to get the interception. But Hughes could have made the catch. He could have run for another 20. Some drops here. That was early. This is Danny Werfel throws out to Concho Brown. Second and 10 from the 19. DeLong's going to take off with a football. Up across to 25, across to 30 and runs out of bounds in the vicinity of the 35 yard line. So Jake showing his scrambling ability and that is one plus that he does have over Danny Werfel. Resourceful kid out of USL. And he was awfully excited about this opportunity. Stepped up. With a good good rush there. J.K. would get up inside of him. 14 yard run. And a first down for New Orleans. Up at their 34, 608 to play third quarter clock moving. Titans leading 8-0. Saints best opportunity has been a missed field goal of 34 yards by Doug Bryant. Here's the handoff to Phil Yaw. Nothing at the middle. Taking it outside from Dino Phil Yaw. Dropped short of the 40 yard line. That's about all he can get out of that. Let's see. Stevens was, no it was Yarbrough wide receiver blocking over on that side. Hughes and Twiner are the other wide outs in the game. Reserve cornerback Danan Sidney made the stop. Well these guys are good friends and Jake said this week that when Danny's in there I won't be getting bad luck. Certainly he wants the job. Obviously he wants the job. They both do. But they're also both really good quality kids. I'm going to find two better people than Danny Wilson. Second and six from the 38. Phil Yaw trying to break it outside. Does so. Turns it upfield and Dino Phil Yaw takes a late hit from Sigler and that draws a flag. Nice little step by Phil Yaw there getting outside. He saw what Wilmot Perry did in the first half and he's going to fight for every inch he can get. Dino Phil Yaw who's been out of football about the last two years has played really well in preseason. He turns the corner and here comes the hit. Automatic first down. He should know he's going to get penalized for that. Yep. Look at it one more time. Move it. Kevin Sigler with the late hit. A rookie out of Alabama trying to make this team. Here you see the comparison between Phil Yaw and Perry. I think that's Troy Davis. Who is often confused for Wilmot Perry. First and ten from the 36. DeLong's going to air it out down the near sideline for Twyner. Twyner can't bring it in. That's another ball that might have been caught. Donald Mitchell the fourth round draft choice out of SMU on the coverage. None of these guys has done much of a favor for either of these quarterbacks tonight. The receivers have had numerous drops and this is another that could have been caught. Twyner's supposed to be a speed guy. Take a little upset. Donald Mitchell has been a real surprise for the Titans. Fourth round pick out of SMU. There was another corner from SMU picked earlier. I think Donald Mitchell is going to make their team. DeLong gets rid of the football incomplete. Jailbreak right there. That was George McCullough coming from the corner on the blitz. When a back comes on the blitz that will usually disrupt the screen pass. The back really wasn't ready for the ball. Someone's got to get a little piece of that defensive back coming in or either do like Jake did and throw it away. Like Dicker who I think fancies himself more an offensive coach than a defensive coach. Not at all pleased with how sputtering the offense has been so far tonight having been shut out thus far. Here's the third in his hand. Three receivers set with a tight end. They're bringing five. They're bringing six and DeLong throws a pass drop. Dane and Hughes wouldn't have picked up the first down but that's another completion that is dropped by the St. Wide receivers. Dane and Hughes is supposed to be a solid guy to make this team because of his special team play. He's not helping himself as a wide receiver. Only had one catch for the Chiefs last year and he lets that ball out of his body. Starts to turn up to him. Saints will go for it on fourth and ten. They are just one out of six in fourth down conversions this pre-season. Hides are confused and quickly call timeout just prior to the snap. Tennessee. This is their first charge team timeout. We'll take the break and see what the Saints can do on fourth down when we come back. It's time to get wild. Two words crunched with panties. It's time to get real. Wednesdays this fall on Fox 15. All of your scores and highlights as we begin the high school football season fourth down for the Saints. Look forward to that, Mike, every Friday night. Fourth and ten from the 36. Tolome is carried from behind by McCullough. The ball is loose. And in either event it's going to go over to the Titans. It came from the back side. Jake right in the back. And that will be the fifth sack of this game by the Titans as the Saints continue to get absolutely nothing done offensively. And here you see the pressure that Tolome was under. Might have delivered the football there, but by the time he could get rid of it, McCullough had massaged him pretty good. The WB is the hot new cable station in town. Carrying the ball for the first time tonight. Jake DeLone thus far, 3 out of 11 on the night for 37 yards. Fourth year running back out of Penn State. He's been sacked three times as DeLone, second and one from the 46. On the ground again for a short game. Let's go down to Mike Haas on the sideline, Mike. Thank you Jim, the news not real good for safety. Gerard Cherry, he's in street clothes, he came out on crutches, they took him in for the sprained ankle for the x-ray and he of course, he has sprained ligaments in the right ankle. Very important player on the special teams and this was an injury he could ill afford at this juncture. So the injury bug continues to bite the Saints. A lot of talk on the sideline before the game from coaches of both teams that they'd like to see the preseason shortened to two games. All you do is lose your best players in preseason it would appear. Running the football again is Mike Archie, the 5'8", 204 fourth year man out of Penn State. This is a team in the Titans that have a new president in Jeff Diamond, a guy you remember from your Viking days. Good man. But Adam relinquished the presidency to Jeff Diamond. Jeff Diamond's a good football man, he's been in the front office a long, long time with Minnesota. He was let go by Red McComb. Big shock up there. I think Sporting News named him executive of the year by Red McCombs fired him. That's what you can do when you're the boss. Second and seventh from the 41, O'Donnell with a lot of times going to air it out deep looking for Sanders and it's incomplete. Paul kind of died out there and Moldin and Clay were converging on Chris Sanders. Good coverage. And people responding from Brad Young, what was the nickname of the offensive line for the Saints when Archie was quarterback? What was it Arch? Is that the Archie's Bunker? Was it? Was it Archie's Bunker? I thought it was called the Sif. Wasn't it the Sif? Or the Stiffs. That was it. The Stiffs. You had a few nicknames for them but I don't know if we can use those can we? I've never stayed around do you? Third and seventh on the slant. The catch is made by Derek Mason. Derek Mason with his first reception of the night. He's been returning kicks primarily for them. Third year man out of Michigan State. Well of all the areas of the Saints team that should be improved this year, their offensive line might be the most improved once they get Willie Rove back and once Willie gets back together for a while. That should be a good offensive line. You got three number ones there. Wally Williams is one of the top three agents last year. Saints played big money for him. A good solid center. Archie breaks it outside. Slipping a couple of tackles to do so. Stays in bounds. The clock continues to run. Hewitt can mold it on the staff. Two minutes remaining as the clock runs in the third quarter and the Titans leading 8-0. It's just the third quarter? Yes it is. So do you agree that you'd like to see the preseason shortened and all regular season lengthened? I mean why? Why play these? Play them for real. Somebody hurt. Get them hurt in real games. Fans are paying full price, right? Second and two from the 19-yard line. Neal O'Donnell, second quarterback of the night. Throwing it underneath to one of his fullbacks. That's Garrett Gould who has been primarily a blocker tonight. Now he's having an opportunity to catch the ball. A rookie free agent out of Michigan State. Earl Little is slow to get up. It was he who was in on the tackle. Well, Garrett Way is 240. You don't have to tell Earl Little that. He got the worst of that. He got him down. Earl Little's had a good preseason. He's had a good preseason. Guy that made the club as a free agent last year and shown that he deserved to stick and is bidding to have more and more playing time. Just short of the first down, it'll bring up third and less than a yard. Well, the Titans have scored on 23 and 33-yard Al Del Greco field goals and a safety when Werfel was sacked by Josh Evans. The Saints' best opportunity, a miss of 34 yards by Doug Bryant. Here's results of our quarterback poll. Right again. Is it about what you thought? Yep. I think it's for a number of reasons. One, Jake DeLong represents the unknown and everybody always wants the other guy until he gets in there and shows why perhaps he was the other guy. And I think fans, for the most part, have made up their mind on Danny Werfel. Right or wrong that he can't play, perhaps for the Saints or perhaps in the NFL. I think that's the fans' thing. Giving it on the ground with Mike Archie for the first down. And Jake DeLong looks the part a lot more than Danny does. Let's face it, Danny is not a classic quarterback in any sense of the word. Jake looks like he has better mechanics. Better drop, better delivery. Gets more on the football. But as Mike Ditka stressed this week, the cerebral aspect of the game, Danny Werfel's ahead. The physical aspect of the game, Jake DeLong is ahead. Danny Werfel. First and 10 from the 15 yard line in the final 20 seconds of the third quarter. A down play action, rolls right, feels the pressure, dumps it off underneath to Michael Rohn, and he's tackled immediately by Vincent Smith. Rohn's listed as the third tight amphibian player out of Wisconsin. You know, Jackie Harris, we had some good years in Green Bay and Tampa Bay is injured right now. He's their backup tight end player. We've reached the end of the third quarter. 15 minutes left. The new 107.9 K-Rock. Bob and Tom in the morning, the best classic rock all day. You're watching the number one station of the Acadiana, KADN, Fox 15. Sixty-three thousand six hundred and thirty-four fans on hand. The capacity of the Adelphia Coliseum is sixty-seven thousand. So the honeymoon continues for the Titans in their new home. And probably will for a while. These fans are excited about this football team and this facility. And rightly so. Second about twelve. Shotgun for Neil O'Donnell and the Titans. Corey Harrison over at the right corner. Joey Kent in motion. Zone blitz here. O'Donnell's got a receiver. And Kent makes the catch and holds on to it for the touchdown. Joey Kent. The former second round draft choice out of Tennessee back in 97. Holds on to the football in the end zone for the touchdown. Things came with a zone blitz, bringing the outside people. Weinman trying to drop back because the Weinman can't drop back that deep. Nice throw before the safeties could get there by Neil O'Donnell. Good timing route. You know that Joey Kent is one of three receivers on this team that underwent corrective laser eye surgery in the offseason. As Mike Dick is questioning the eyesight of the officials at the moment and asking for a replay. Probably. Joey Kent along with Kevin Dyson and Michael Rohn. Third string. Yeah he had it long enough. They all had laser eye surgery in the offseason and Joey Kent looked that one into his hands and long enough for the touchdown according to our vantage point. See what the officials think. As this play is reviewed. Mike. Thanks Jim. I'm with Saints wide receiver Eddie Kennison. Eddie you're a white eye. Was that a touchdown? Not at all. I mean he didn't have complete control of the football and the guy came over and knocked it out before he hit the ground. So it didn't count for anything. Is this offense ready for Carolina next Sunday? I think we are. You know the stars get in everybody. I think we have a good rapport. I think the guys are playing well. You know the first half of the preseason and I think we'll go out and play some good football this season. What's the difference in the game plan for a preseason and a real game plan as far as the kind of plays that you guys would be calling? Preseason, I mean you don't want to give everybody all your weapons or everything that you're doing. You just kind of put some things together. See what guys can do with it and that makes a difference between preseason and regular season. Are you at all concerned that you and Howard really haven't had a whole lot of time together this preseason? Not at all. I mean we connected well. The one game that we did play and we got some great timing down and I think he's going to come in when he gets healthy and I think he's going to deliver the football and move this off as well. Alright Eddie, thanks a lot. Thank you. Jim? Alright Mike, thanks very much. You can see the referee looking at the replays, trying to decide if Joey Kent had possession of that football. Eddie Kennison said he didn't. From our vantage point it looked like he did. You take another look. He's got possession right there. Yeah, he's got possession. I think they call it quicker anyway in the end zone. Don't they? Right, I mean as soon as those feet touch down, they usually call it a touch down. They don't ask you to do the other acts that they might demand between the end zones of being able to run with the ball and tend to turn. Will be overturned in complete half. Look it up. Just say it again. He was. I'm agreeing with you and then I said that ball was kind of coming out just a little bit. Well Mike Ditka finally sees it the way the officials do or they see it the way he does. Ditka with his hands in the air on the sideline saying how long have you had it? But that's a hard call. That's a hard call. Well Eddie Kennison, if he decides to get out of football as an active player, has a future as a referee in the NFL because that's the way he saw it. To say I don't agree but they reversed it. That's good. That's good for replay. But nine out of ten officials are going to call that a touch down when they see it like that in the end zone. So it's third down. O'Donnell will throw underneath this time to about the 12 yard line where the reception is made by Mike Archie. Mike Haas is on the sideline. Thanks Jim. Mike Ditka has the hardest time finding that buzzer to challenge the call but after he finally got this one overturned, he raised his arms four and five times and looked to the sky and finally, finally we got one. Hallelujah. They'll eventually have another assistant coach who will probably have an ability to just push the button for Mike in the future. They still have very many assistants. 31 yard field goal attempt. Snap is low. Hendrick puts it down. Del Greco puts it up and it's true. So a bad snap handled by Hendrick and Del Greco adjusts and the Titans increase their lead. With 14-13 to play in the fourth quarter, it's now Tennessee 11 and New Orleans nothing. Having a tough time? Feeling misunderstood, generally mad at the world? As the Saints continue to look for their first points with 14-10 remaining in the fourth quarter. Dino Filio returning the kickoff beyond the 30. Running room up to the 40. Forty-five midfield. He's at the 40 of the Titans. He's at the 25-20. Fifteen, ten, five touchdown. Dino Filio. They showed some good speed. Made a nice move right up the middle, then cut it to the outside. Outran the kicker, but also outran Chris Sanders down the sideline. Well, these are a couple of hungry running backs on the bubble. Wilmot Perry and Dino Filio. Good move right there. Nice move. There's another one. Hit the outside and showed some good speed. Ninety-three yard kickoff return for Dino Filio as the Titans finally get on the scoreboard in a very exciting way. And he was slowing down, not at all, in the final yards of that kickoff return. He still had a burst. Did a lot of it himself, too. He might have got a little pep from a couple of pushes in the back. Running away from Hendrick, and also as you say, from Sanders. That's a very skinny wide receiver. With DeLone being sacked. Jake DeLone That wasn't a blitz. There was D. Lyman coming in. Who that was? John Thornton, who's the number two draft choice. John Thornton gets him so the Saints go for two unsuccessfully. But they are on the scoreboard with 13.55 to play and trail 11 to 6. Dino Filiaw's 93 yard kickoff return finally puts the Saints on the board with 1355 to play in the fourth quarter. Delome possibly seeing his last action of the night and maybe last action as the Saints comes on for the two point opportunity in his sack. Of course, Jake's numbers not to three of 1137 yards on the night. Sack three times. Had numerous drops, Jim. But not a productive evening. Well, I tell you, that was a great return by Dino Filiaw. He may have secured a spot for himself on this team. Derrick Mason from the seven with a flag down is brought down at the 20 yard line. Yeah, that's a very difficult decision there if they indeed have to make one between Filiaw and Wilmot Perry. Right now when you look at the running back situation for the Saints, the top four obviously Ricky Williams and Troy Davis Lamar Smith and then when you have to decide on a fourth, it comes down between Perry and Filiaw. Well, Wilmot Perry, of course, was a project picked from a small school last year. We'll get back after the commercials. On the Fox Saturday night of Justice First, they ask. This is Kevin Daft. Young man at the time, for real how, a fifth round, fifth round pick. Out of Cal Davis. Let's go down to Mike Haas. Mike. Thanks Jim. I'm a starting center, Jerry Fontenot. Jerry, I want to go back a little bit, and it's been a while, but it's been a long time. Jerry, I want to go back a little bit, and it's been a while, but what kind of happened when Danny Orffel was in that second quarter when he got the safety? He just seemed, the pocket seemed to collapse on him. Yeah, they showed us a little defensively that we hadn't worked on, and it was actually, we were turning to the right, and there was miscommunication across the line, and someone came free, and that's how the safety happened. You know, that's basically all it was. We were fanning out to the linebacker on the right, and there was miscommunication. All right, sit tight. Let's run the play. Go ahead, Jim. Second and twelve. Daft to throw. Does. Kent with a diving reception along the sideline, but out of bounds. Rough night. Can't get a break tonight. That was a great catch. Terrific catch. Mike. Is this an offensive line? I know you were without Willie Rove, but are you guys happy with the protection so far? Not tonight. By any means. Tonight was not good for us. There's some definite things we need to work on, and it showed tonight, and fortunately it's still preseason, and we have another week and a few days to work on it, so we're not real happy with the protection at this point. You know, we're still working on the communication, and in a loud stadium like this, sometimes it's a little tough. We just need to work more on it. Third and twelve from the fifteen. Daft overthrows Sanders. A loud stadium such as this, and as Jerry Fondo mentioned, that's one of the things that the Titans are excited about. They finally feel like they have a home field advantage, that they have home field support. This is a team that was the Oilers for thirty-nine years, and this is their fourth home field in four years. Well, Jim, in the last five regular seasons, they have not had a show out, and have averaged less than thirty thousand per game. It's hard to make many visiting teams feel uncomfortable with attendance like that, but they've got over sixty thousand here tonight. As Hannaford makes the observation, the two quarterbacks competing for the position have not really had a fair chance because of poor blocking. Do you think Coach Dipka might hold off on the cut? Well, if he can't make up his mind, he may hold off. I think he'd like to go ahead and make the cuts tomorrow. It's true the blocking has not been real good. There's been some drops from both of them. I think he's going to make this decision. He's had these guys for two years competing. I think it's just going to be a collection of all his thoughts on these two guys. And he said the intangibles and what he thinks best of the team. You know, Phil Yaw running hard on the delay. He may be shaken up a bit as he's upended around midfield. They have had a few drops tonight. Yeah, we counted six balls that could have been caught. Now, Jake Delome is still in there. Yeah, I just thought Danny was supposed to go in the fourth quarter. He's got 12-23. I know you've got somebody to continue a drive, but it looks like Jake's getting another drive here. And I don't know what the reasoning is. Wilmot Perry. Making a nice move in the hall and showing more elusiveness than he has as a state running back. Yeah, Jim, I'm not sure. If Wilmot Perry hadn't gotten hurt in training camp, I don't think Phil Yaw would have gotten many carries in this precedence at all. I think Wilmot Perry was going to be the back for the preseason. Coming out of the small college last year, they just wanted to see him play a lot. Unfortunately for him, he had that injury, but he looks pretty good tonight. First and 10 from the 42, Delome delivers low and incomplete. That was intended for Ryan Yarborough. Well, you know, if Wilmot Perry and Dino Filio are going to provide this kind of quality running back play for the Saints as they had tonight, it's an opportunity maybe to trade Lamar Smith for someone. Well, it may. I think if they, as soon as they see that if Ricky gets to 100 percent, I think they'll dangle Lamar Smith out there. Second and 10 from the 42 as Delome changes the play. Going to throw it long down the near sideline for Yarborough. He slips and falls down. The ball is taken in on the sideline, but out of bounds by Dane and Sidney. Yarborough was not open. He didn't beat the man. On a deep route, the quarterback can't wait to see if he's open or not. If you know he's got single coverage, you throw the timing route. The coverage is good. Shotgun formation here. Four receivers set. Third and 10. Delome stepping up. Can't find anybody. Screaming up in the pocket, he throws it off the fingertips with Phil Yaw incomplete. Sigler on the coverage. You know, I think Tom Ackerman just got hurt. Oh, wow. Yeah, he's got his hand up immediately and is limping to the sideline. He's not going to get there. Dean Kleinschmidt comes on to help him. Ackerman's down again. This might be a cramp though. It looks like their massaging is his left calf. Earlier in this quarter, Mike Ditka was really chewing on Ackerman on the sideline after after they had the problems with penetration up the middle. Oh, boy, I think somebody came up the back of his Yeah. That's more than a cramp. That's the injury in the burying scene. Tom Ackerman is our best backup lineman. Well, he's back up on his feet, but he's going to need some help from Billy Joe Hobart and Jerry Fontenot to get to the sideline. A very popular player is Tom Ackerman. Always has a smile on his face, though not at the moment. Real good guy and the kind of guy you like to have on your football team. Good backup center and can also play guard bench for you. So it's fourth and ten. Looks like Jay's going to stay in. The Saints will go for it. Now they'll bring, have to bring in a new center. Who's that? Maybe Thomas Shall go to center. Yes, he does. Number 67. There was movement by the Saints offensive line and this play will be blown dead. May not go for it now. Prior to the snap, full start. Offense, number 79. Mike Halepin. As you look at the left-hand side of the Saints line. That's Keno Hills. It sure is. I think they called Halepin 79, but it was Keno Hills. Now there's a guy who's not done anything in preseason to distinguish himself. Keno may get a bus ticket tomorrow. Sixth round draft choice, but by Jim Mora, not Mike Ditka. And the only thing that's keeping Keno around is his versatility, but he's messed up in a number of goals. The Saints will come it away and it does go into the end zone for the touchback and the Titans will have it at their 20. When we return with 11-21 to play in the fourth quarter and the Titans leading the Saints 11-6. Where's Edison? I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. I'm a citizen. Hey, I'm a citizen. NFL Sunday returns this fall with Terry, Howie, JB, and Chris as they bring you the latest news from around the NFL one hour before kickoff at noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific. Great clip, but I'm surprised they use real footage. Yeah, everything else on Fox is animation. Next thing you know, they'll animate us. I'd be retarded. Somebody threw away a perfectly good pair of eyeballs. I'm nominated for eight Emmys, the X-Files, Fox Sunday. Welcome back to Nashville, a town that's really on the move and a town that is excited now about its professional sports teams. The Predators here in the NHL have been one of the major success stories in the National Hockey League. They've done a great job, and people are excited about this football team in this venue. First and 10 from the 20. Daff, with a lot of time, throws underneath to Archie, and he's brought down by Phil Clark. Here's another question, Arch. This one's yours. What major motion picture was Archie Manning seen in? Did that play in one of those art houses? Oh, poltergeist. Footage of me throwing an interception against the Rams. That was a rare piece of celluloid, wasn't it? It was hard to find that. Poltergeist. Now, did you know that you were going to be in that picture when that ran? Did you see it in the theater for the first time? No, somebody told me. Did you ever go see it? No, I didn't. Did you get any residuals for that? No. But it should also, I know you'd be too modest to mention this, you are also mentioned in, what, a couple of John Grisham novels, aren't you? Yeah, John was a friend of mine. Pelican brief, right? That was a Supreme Court judge. Time to kill, I think. First and 10 from the 31. Mike Haas, who hasn't been mentioned in any novels that I know of, is on the sideline. Right you are, Jim. Novels, movies, plays, zero. But I'm with safety, Sammy Knight. Sammy, you must feel a little better about this defense than probably back from the first half of that Colts game. Well, you know, we're getting improvement every game, you know what I mean? It's a lot of new people playing out there. You know, I'm playing a new position. We have a lot of new corners. You know, Rob, playing for safety. So we're just trying to gel together and come up with the best unit we can. Quite the battle at safety between Rob and of course Willie Clay. Are you feeling Willie Clay really push him in that area? You know, everybody's getting pushed. If you look at Chris Hewitt, he's doing an excellent job at strong safety also. So you know what I mean? We're all back there just trying to play. You know what I mean? And let the coaches make the decision. And this defense has to do more of what you did in the first half, which was force the fumble that Rob Kelly, you know, pounced on. Yeah, definitely. You know, we have to create turnovers. That's one thing we talked about this game. But you know, I created one, but the one I missed on McNair, they're hitting me up on the sidelines on that one. So, you know, I had to get one. All right, Sammy, thanks. Thanks a lot. Austin Robbins drags down Mike Archie, and Archie is shaken up. Looked like he had his leg bent underneath him. You can look at it again on the replay and see that he's suffering a leg injury. He's brought down hard and awkwardly. Let's go to a spot. We'll be back in a moment. I'm not leaving this house until this studio will make slow torture, too. You got that? Don't give me that hard a** look, you pompous little a**, because I got news for you. You don't scare me. How was that? Good, Daddy. Really? Scary? Action. Thursdays, this fall on Fox 15. Here at Sonic, we're known as car hops. Life-savers is more like it. Hi, here's your order. Thanks. Hi, Mom. You're watching the number one station in Acadietta, KADN, Fox 15. Welcome back. It's 11 to 6 in the fourth quarter. Titans on top. You see the cars behind me. That has Tom Ackerman and Earl Little. Tom Ackerman, a left ankle sprain. He's being taken in. Earl Little got dinged up quite a while ago, if you remember, on that tackle on the fullback. They weren't at that time. And it's been some 20, 30 minutes that he was just dizzy from that. But he's had a really kind of a rough time the last few minutes on the sidelines getting sick. And so they're taking him into the locker room as well. Jim? All right, Mike. Thanks very much. Tom Ackerman, fullback Garrett Gould, which Little was shaken up. And you see Archie coming off the field. He probably got a concussion. Jim? Under his own power. Archie limps off. It's third and six at the 35 for Kevin Daft and the Titans. Daft with lots of time throws it to Sanders. And he's being shielded from the football by Corey Harris. No flag. It was a double coverage. And Corey Harris was in front of him and threw it anyway. Not a lot of effort by Sanders to come around and catch the ball. And did you know that this broadcast is presented by the authority of the National Football League intended for the private use of our audience and any rebroadcast of the use of the broadcast without the consent of the New Orleans Saints and the National Football League is prohibited? Perfectly legal defense. Didn't have his hands on him. Wasn't face guarding him in any way. Sanders just made no attempt to get around him and go after the ball. Kendrick the punt. I think we'll see Danny Werfel in this next three. Hastings makes the fair catch at the 21 yard line. Jake DeLome we have on the night as it is Werfel who's checking into the Saints huddle three out of 14 for 37 yards. Sacked three times. Had numerous drops. But I guess you'd have to say that and more than this game will be taken into consideration but you'd have to say despite the fact that his teammates didn't help him out a great deal Jake didn't do a whole lot to prove it. As I said in the pregame a lot of people felt like Jake was going to have to kind of separate himself tonight, play significantly better than Danny to win the job but we'll see. There's a guy who's separated from a few folks tonight and that's Dino Filia on the carry. Without a doubt the best play of this game for the Saints. By the way my nomination for play of the game. Is it? Yes it is. We got a little touch down here we could win this game. Yeah it's only a five point differential but the Saints have been so quiet offensively it could be 50. Got L.C. Stevens and Ryan Yarbrough the wide outs. Second and eight from the 24. Danny Rolls delivers. Caught by Wilcox. Flag goes down. Wilcox makes the catch. He's up around the 42 yard line of New Orleans. There's a flag down back at the 34 holding against the Titans. The initial indication. Little bootleg action. Full back slips in the flat. Nice progression by Danny Werfel. Looking at the flat. He's covered. Holding. That was Loschinsky. Defense number 37. Penalty be declined. First down. Now you know that you knew this that Nashville was once known as the Athens of the South right? Well we were talking about this where they got the name Titans correct? That's right. There were 12 Titans in mythology. Three of them were Atlas, Prometheus and Cronus. I know you thought those were just Mardi Gras crews. But they were three of the 12 Titans. We'll get to this other question. This is good fourth quarter. Here's reverse. Twyner makes a nice move inside the defensive tackle. Can Gunnar Twyner. Falls. And will be ruled down by contact at the 44 yard line. Some nifty running by Gunnar Twyner. Chris Ward on the tackle. From J.P. Terrio. If Ditka decides not to keep Jake DeLong. What are his chances of being picked up by another team? Well not real good right now because you've got a number of teams. Several have already gotten rid of their fourth quarterback. Fourth or fifth. But it'll be several teams tomorrow or over the weekend will be. Cutting their fourth quarter. There's still a team or two that keeps just two quarterbacks. So probably not a real good shot for Jake right now. If he is. Second and seven from the 44 yard row in motion. Phil Yaw is the halfback and he gets the little flair from Werfel. Dragged down by the linebacker at the 45 yard line. Terry Killens. Neck ties him and brings him down. Killens is the young linebacker that'll make this team. Actually he's there. We talked earlier. That's where they're really concerned with the lack of depth. They feel like they really have just four that can help them. There you get a look at Killens. Fourth year man out of Penn State. Penn State linebacker. Third and six from the 45 yard line. For Werfel with four wide receivers. Looks like the Titans or Blitzen anymore kind of playing a little straight ball from behind Ryan Yarbrough there. Saints will go for it. As they should with less than six and a half minutes to go. You think? Sure. Why not? I would think that they would. You know if the Saints don't pick off an interception here in the final moments they will have gone the entire preseason without an interception. Sammy Knight was talking about turnovers. They need more of them. Had a lot of interceptions last year though. A lot of big plays defensively last year too. Fourth and six. The Saints trying to keep this drive alive and it's incomplete intended for Besh. Off his fingertips he looks for a flag. There is none. And the Saints fail to convert again on fourth down. That was a good play by Samari Rowe. That's a kid that they really like. That's just good defense right there. Besh wasn't able to shake him. Look at there. Come around tip it away. That's the way you play that ball. And so the Titans will have the football with 619 to play in the fourth quarter. They have led throughout. They haven't gotten it in the end zone. Although they have tackled the same quarterback there for points they've gotten. This hadn't been the best preseason game they've ever done. No it's been kind of quiet. But there's an interception by Corey Harris. He fumbles the football but he'll be ruled down and no sooner did we say that the Saints didn't have an interception in preseason than Corey Harris a long shot to be on this final roster. Comes up with one. So Daph tries to run a little out and up. He pumps and throws deep and Corey Harris wide and full just backpedaled and death under through the ball somewhat. There was even a safety back there. This is not a good throw. So the Saints will have another opportunity with 609 to play. Again they trail by only five points. This one big play away from possibly winning this thing. Wilmot Perry back in there. Standing to the left of Danny Werfel. Times are playing it pretty straight in their secondary now. Keno jumps all sides. All right Mike's a little upset. He may pull Keno out. Prior to the snap. Cold start. Offense. Number 77. Five yard penalty. Remains. Can't get the numbers right. No he can't. Look at Ditka. Is he yelling at Danny or the official? He's yelling at everybody he can find. Don't be yelling at Keno. First and 15 at the 19 yard line. He makes the catch and pays the price but holds out of the football up at the 46 yard line for the first down. Good throw by Danny Werfel. Just right down the seam. Got to anticipate that throw. And we've seen more than one Saint receiver tonight flinch a little bit in traffic and contribute to the many drops that have occurred. Not Brett Besh. He knew he was going to get hammered. Those inside receivers when you run that route you can pretty much be assured you're going to be hit. First and 10 from the New Orleans 46. Werfel throwing again for Besh and this one he cannot hold on to with Roll again very tightly covering him. Again good reaction athletic ability by Samari Roll. Came right back with the same play like he might have had a step but just didn't quite get there soon enough. There's always been an affinity between Danny Werfel and Brett Besh. He oftentimes looks for Besh in clutch situations and Brett usually delivers. Second and 10 from the 46. Looking to the right again he fits it in there to Yarborough down to about the 46 of the Titans. Let's rejoin Mike Haas on the sidelines. Thanks Jim. I'm with cornerback Alex Moore. You know that was the first interception for you guys this preseason. Had a lot of them last year. Needed to get that. I know. Yeah. We was talking about that before the game. You know in the secondary we need to get some turnover. Some strips or some interceptions. You know we got one. You know but you know we can use that as a springboard in the regular season. How are you handling Ashley taking over your job? You know I'm trying to do the best. You know Graz is a great competitor and you know all of us back there. Fred Weary, Drakeford and myself. And you know it's just one of those things you know. But you know I'm still going to battle. You know I mean my head's not down. I still got you know a whole bunch of confidence in my abilities. Alright Alex thanks a lot. Jim. On third and three Yarborough makes a diving grab to keep the drive alive. And the Saints pick up the first down with four and a half minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Real butt by five. Eleven to six. That was the first time these backups for the Titans had come out of there. The zone defense came with a blitz there and Danny threw the out to the outside. Got the completion in the first time. Looks like he's checking off here. First and ten from the forty-one. But the safety backs out of there. Werfel throws it down the seam intended for Control Brown. And he may have drawn a flag holding the initial indication. Against the secondary of the Titans. It's a good read by Danny Werfel. I think Danny prior to the snap had anticipated a blitz. Checked off with his defense. Number fifty. Five yard penalty. Automatic. First down. Checked off with his wide receivers going deep. Danny likes to throw the deep deep pass. But when they just went zone on the outside he had the tight end going down the middle. And he was being hailed by Terry Killings. No doubt about it. So first down for New Orleans. The clock is stopped with four ten to play. It's first and ten New Orleans at the thirty-six of the Titans. The Saints have never led in this game. And trail eleven to six. Split backs behind Werfel. Two wide outs to the left. Wilmot Perry on the delay. Finds a little running room. Wilmot Perry running hard. Down to around the twenty-six yard line. Wilmot Perry has been one of the surprises of this game. One of the more pleasant surprises for the Saints as far as talking about people on the bubble. Wilmot Perry along with Dino Filioff. Both had their moments. Kevin Sigler on the tackle for the Titans. It's second and one for New Orleans at the twenty-seven of Tennessee. Perry again. No running room this time. He'll have to do all this on his own. This time the stiff arm doesn't serve him well enough. And he's bounced out of bounds for a loss on the play. You hate to lose yardage on second and one. Here's Wilmot Perry, the former fifth round draft choice of a year ago. You see the hard running and the agility that he's shown tonight that I think probably most people haven't given him credit for. Lots of people didn't think he could run outside the tackles he has tonight. I think this coaching staff would have a real hard time letting him go. It's just such a project. Played at Livingston College. Had the injury in preseason. He's just a good looking prospect who hadn't played a lot of big time football. Third and five from the thirty-one. Whirlpool delivers and it's incomplete. Off the hands of Concho Brown. Would have been enough for the first down. But now the Saints will be forced to try another opportunity on fourth down to keep this drive alive. It's fourth and five at the Titan thirty-one. Titans had a pretty good rush coming there. I think Danny had to unload that one before he wanted to throw a little bit behind Concho. Mike Ditka. Talking with Danny Whirlpool on the sideline was really worked up initially. Now he seems to be calming down a bit. Usually if you're talking about a battle for the third quarterback on the team, it's really academic. These guys are developmental project types. But not with the Saints. They've played four quarterbacks each of the last two years. If you're the third quarterback on this team, there's a good opportunity to play. Well, this Saturday afternoon at the Louisiana Superdome is the site for the high school football doubleheader. With John Curtis taking on Evangel and Sean Westman Rowe. The sixteenth annual half-quarty classic kickoff at noon. And some good quarterbacks in that game. I mean, some real good ones. And don't forget, fourth down on four. Increased high school coverage begins tomorrow night. Mike Austin, our producer Tom Planchet and all the good folks at Channel 4. Going to service the high school audience. Like it deserves to be serviced by WWL. And foot forward to that. Fourth and five from the thirty-one. Perhaps the last gasp for the Saints here. Werfel going to throw the out. And Stevens hadn't turned his head around. LC Stevens wasn't out of his break and never looked back for the football. As it went past him and again, the Saints failed to convert on fourth down. And that might have been their last gasp in this football game with three twenty-six to play. Well, you caught us a quick out. Sears got to get his head around. He really, his head came around, but he didn't pick up the football. He just didn't see it come out of Danny's hands. But he's got to do that. So it appears that the Saints offense will have been limited to a few nice runs by Wilmot Perry and Dino Filia. And that's pretty much been it offensively. The only way that they have scored the ninety-three-yard kickoff return by Filia. The Saints followed that up with an unsuccessful try for two. I really don't remember, but one pass actually thrown downfield. That was a good throw from Danny Werfel to Brett Besh. That's right. I mean, a significant gainer. Spencer George on the carry. As we check in on our web poll, we've been asking the question, who would you like to see as the Saints' third string quarterback this season? Fifty-one percent still say Jake DeLong. Thirty-two percent Werfel and sixteen percent someone else. Maybe you, Arch. That's the amount of eligibility. Well, there are the guys that came into this game with their futures, at least on this football team on the line. I think you can see from Jake DeLong's expression that he probably realizes that he didn't do enough to win that job. I would be very surprised if Danny Werfel were the casualty of this cut and not Jake DeLong. But one never knows. I think there'll be a few surprises in the cuts tomorrow. You're going to see, depending on, we can't tell about tonight's play, these coaches are going to be watching film probably early in the morning. But there may be a couple of veterans or a couple of guys who started out as starters and then crossed early in the summer. I don't want to be here this time. Busted play and Daft goes down with Whitehead on him for the sack. The Saints' second sack of the night. The Saints take a timeout. I believe that they did with 314 to play here in the fourth quarter. A lot of folks heading for the exits. It's a workday tomorrow here in Nashville, but 63,634 were on hand. You know, I think I also here in Nashville, got some great choices to sing the national anthem. Yes. Every week. Laurie Morgan tonight. It was Faith Hill last week. Last week for that opener against the Falcons. They had Faith Hill singing the national anthem. That's pretty strong. And as she reached the crescendo, they let loose a bald eagle that flew over the state. They did that bald eagle. They've had it at Knoxville a few times. It's really something to see. And tonight, Laurie Morgan, the Navy SEALs, parachuted in and had the Tennessee State Band at halftime. Oh, one Michael Buffer here last week. Third and twenty, Daft throws it high for Sanders. He's hit by Moldin and laid out. Alex Moldin taking out a little bit of frustration. And he's been matched up with Sanders much of this evening. Not a good throw by young Kevin Daft. That one kind of wobbled a little bit. And our Wagners meet selection for the play of the game without question. There weren't a whole lot to choose from. But this was by far the outstanding play. Nice run back of 93 yards by Dino Filioff, the Saints' only touchdown of this game. Two or three really good moves. A snap and the Saints block the putt. Yes, they do. It's in the end zone. Daft kicks back out and the Saints will have the football. Although the Titans recover it at the six yard line. So they're still in a position to win this thing with three minutes remaining trailing by about five points. Great position to win it. Let me get into this play-by-play a little bit here. Hey, you're welcome to it. That's what preseason is all about. Feel free. It came from the outside. Troy Davis. Troy Davis. Troy Davis coming around the outside to block the putt of Hentrick. And then it kicked back and Hentrick was able to fall on the football. But that's the Saints' ball at the eight yard line. The Saints have a first and goal at the Titan eight with three minutes remaining and trailing by five, 11 to six. The Saints come out in an eye formation, two tight ends. So he's going to try to power it. Wilmot Perry with running room hurdling into the end zone for the touchdown. But there is a flag down at the two yard line. Wilmot Perry takes it in for the go-ahead touchdown in this game if it stands. Even with 12 men on the field, the Saints are able to get it in the end zone with Wilmot Perry taking it in from eight yards out. The Saints really should go for two here. There he goes airborne. Good blocking by Cunchoe Brown right there on the point. So the Saints are up 12 to 11 and will try for two to give them a three-point lead. Danny Whirlpool with four wide receivers. Troy Davis behind him. Whirlpool has the ball slotted down and it's incomplete. One of the interior linemen, Keith Embre, getting his hand up and forcing the incompletion. But the Saints take the lead. If they go on to win this, this will be one of the worst performances in victory that you might ever see. But hey, that's what preseason is all about. No style points. You won't hear next week when they get ready to kick off the season no one will be talking about what their preseason records were. Most people can't remember. Both of these teams, one and two, coming into this game in preseason. When you look back over Mike Ditka's first two preseasons, his first one he was three and one. The Saints went six and ten. The second one he was one and three. The Saints went six and ten. And even in victory tonight, should they hold off the Titans, probably more people would be discouraged than encouraged by the Saints play, to be frank. So Doug Bryan will kick it away. And now the Saints coverage teams will try to clamp down on Derek Mason along with Spencer George, who stand back at the five yard line, hoping to return this into favorable field position with 2.54 remaining. Last week they had Michael Buffer for real. Now they've got him on tape. Here's Bryan's kickoff and it's a good one. Mason from the five across the 20 slips the tackle of play and is upended as he crosses his 30 yard line. The Titans will have an opportunity for their young quarterback to get a two minute opportunity here, 2.46 to go. He hadn't been real impressive tonight from talking to some of their people. They've been very impressed with him in their training camp. Outplayed Steve Matthews who was cut last week. The guy has had a little experience in the league. Real smart young guy, not real big, but picked up the system real easy. Well, let's see if the Saints defense can rise to the occasion. It has, for the most part, played pretty well tonight. First and 10 from the 32, Daft goes to the air, bearing down on him the same pass rush, and it's incomplete, intended for tight end Larry Brown. Pretty good pass rush from Rob Lertzema, along with Austin Robbins I also believe was in there. I believe that was. And Hulu Hammeter is there as well. Hulu Hammeter coming in also, Jim. And so it will be second and 10 from the 32. Block stop with 2.41 to play, Saints clinging to a one point lead. Daft with some time, guns it in the direction of Brown again, and it's incomplete. In Caliaga on the coverage. Larry Brown, as Archie mentioned earlier, a two-sport star with the Bulldogs. Not only a football player, but a fine basketball player as well. He had a knee injury that some people thought kept him from getting drafted, but he was out in San Diego. They let him go, and he's done pretty well for the Orlers. The Titans. A tie. I've been all night. I hadn't said that. I had four as the over-under. Third and 10 from the 32. There he is with the Titans. Larry Brown dragged down by Inc. Almost made the two-minute warning for us. Well, it's hard to break a habit of 39 years. 39 years they've been the Houston Orlers. The team that you once played for way back in 1982 and 83. The glory days. Fourth and two from the 40. Daft scampers and picks it up. Willie Clay brings him down, but he's got the first down at the 45 as we reach the two-minute warning. So there's still some drama left in this football game with two minutes left. We'll take the time out. Father. Daughter. Conservative. Liberal. Rachmaninoff. Rock and roll. Practical. Not. After The Simpsons, Sunday. Two minutes remaining. Sinks and points, five defensive backs. Here's Orlers. The Titans have three wide receivers and a tight end. Sinks coming with a blitz. Daph throws in. Can't catch it. Inbounds around the 43-yard line. You know, Daph isn't very tall. That ball got tipped, but sometimes it actually got tipped and still came out spinning good for a completion. He's not very tall. Listed at 6'1". Yeah, the ball was tipped, I believe, at the line of scrimmage. Harris on the coverage. I said it was tipped. I agree with you. We're affirming. We're observing. You sound like you're questioning. No. First and 10 from the 43. Daph on the handoff. George and William Whitehead drags him down from behind. Hits up play by William Whitehead coming in. Sensitive end. The rush spot. That draw could have gone for big yardage. Titans now trying to get Troy Wilson coming in to give Brady Smith. Brady Smith starting in. Played into the fourth quarter. Second and 13. Daph wobbly offered. Falls incomplete at the 30-yard line intended for Sanders. Molding on the coverage. Was that ball tipped or just come out of there? He's had a couple that's wobbled on him a little bit. Here's the item. Kyle Davis. Kyle Davis. Division two school. Fifth round draft choice. You see his numbers not too impressive, but the Titans are still alive. Third and 13 from the 46. Here they come. It's picked up and nearly intercepted. Almost intercepted by Corey Harris for his second of the evening. Ball thrown badly behind Chris Sanders. And so this could be the last gasp for the Titans. Though they do have two timeouts remaining according to the scoreboard. 1.22 remaining. It's fourth and 13. If you're the Saints, do you bring a lot of people here? Why not? Against the young quarterback, why not? Why not? Bring them. Bring the house. Three wide receivers lined up to the right. The Saints just bringing forward. That's all. Daft throws it downfield and it is caught by Mason. He makes the catch in front of Harris and the drive remains alive. It was kind of a big man or what they call Covey formation for the Titans. Sent in the outside guys. Three guys over there. The Saints did just rush forward so they had a lot of time. Ball actually kind of thrown behind. Who's that Mason? Derek Mason with the reception. Corey Harris there. Didn't see the ball thrown. He got the reception and got out of bounds. And they're in field goal range for Del Greco. First and 10 from the 23. They'll keep it on the ground. Spencer George back to the line of scrimmage at best. The Titans didn't account for the strong safety. Chris Hewer who just came up on the line made that stop of George. I think they're going to see him. See the Titans just go into their field goal strategy here. Del Greco warms up on the near sideline. Automatic Al they call him from inside the 40. Right now he'd be attempting about a 39 yarder if they get no further. Second and 11 from the 24. Spencer George inside the 20 down to the 19 yard line. That's a pretty good spot for him right there. He's got the ball between the hash marks. As the clock winds down and shows 27 seconds remaining. And they'll probably run one more play or perhaps let the clock wind down and call the time out for Del Greco. It looks like that's what they will do. Watching the play clock wind down. If the Saints could have made that two point conversion we could easily be looking at overtime. I think then you'd probably see the Titans try to get it in the end zone and end this thing. So on comes Al Del Greco. With an opportunity to win this football game in all likelihood. Bobby April gathering his troops over on the same sideline trying to get a block here. The Saints do have a block pun in this game and they'll be attempting to block the field goal. Sammy Knight, Brady Smith coming in. Del Greco four out of five coming into this game in preseason as long as being 50 yards. And this will be an attempt of 37 yards. 37 yard field goal attempt by Del Greco. Hendrick to hold it. The ball just inside the left hash mark. Well what do you think? Doug Bryan's missed one tonight. You think Del Greco could miss one? No. I'd like to see him do it. Flag is thrown as the kick is up a good. But there's a flag down on the near sideline. And we await the indication from the officials. Yes it is. And Del Greco converts from 37 yards out. As the Tigers retake the lead. Defense. Player on the line of scrimmage attempting to snap. This play occurs prior to the snap. We will bring the ball back. March five yards. Repeat. Fur down. All right. That occurred before the snap of the ball. So essentially rendering the play dead. So they will enforce the five yard penalty. And Del Greco will get another opportunity. Five yards closer. So a 32 yard attempt now for Del Greco. And that's a penalty that can't be declined obviously. What was the penalty? The Saints jumped into the neutral zone. Oh tried to draw them all. Yeah and trying to induce movement along the line. By the Titans. So the penalty cannot be refused by the Titans. They have to accept the five yard mark off. And despite the fact that Del Greco hit from 37. Now he'll have an opportunity to try once more. This time from 32. I'll ask you again. You think he'll miss this one? No and I will say again. No. Though I hope he does. From 32 yards out. Del Greco kicks. Oh no. He missed it. He missed it wide to the right. Look at the Saints bench. Look at Dicke laughing. 32 yards out. And Del Greco misses the field goal after making it from 37. That is just the easiest chip shot. The guy never misses. Since 1993 he's made over 95% of his field goals inside of 40 yards. He's hit his last 24 straight inside 40. And he misses from 32. Automatic out was not automatic after all. It was a good spot. The ball just drifted on him. Just went wide right. And look at the Saints reaction. Brady Smith. William Whitehead. You earlier saw the shot at Dicke. With this huge smile on his face. Dean Clyde spitting the rest of the Saints bench. Well that is a fitting end to Jeff Fisher. I'm not real happy about the call. And not real happy with Al Del Greco at the moment. But I'm sure both coaches are happy to see this preseason over. For the Titans they end up one and three in preseason. For the Saints they end up two and two. And the Titans wanted some momentum to go into their home opener against Cincinnati. I wouldn't say they got a whole lot tonight. Well I don't think either team got a lot of momentum from the game. Even though the Saints pulled it out. You know now you just forget about the preseason. The Saints have a lot to work on because of trying to get some people on their practice field. Especially offensively get some people working together. Billy Joe Hobart. Ricky Williams. So you just go to work. They got a couple of days off. You got to get the cuts out of the way. Get your team together. And I think Carolina is a good team to play in the opener. They kind of start over there. You got them at home. I think the Saints will be charged. And you know Carolina doesn't know a lot really what to work on. Since Ricky Williams hadn't been there. They really don't know what this Saints offense is about. They haven't seen their quarterback or their running back throughout the preseason. So the Saints really should be able to pull some surprises against Carolina in the opener. And I think they will. Now the Saints have only had Billy Joe Hobart in their lineup for about a half. And while he was in there he was without his starting left tackle. He was without his starting running back. He was without his starting tight end. Now how do you establish that sort of continuity in one week to get ready for an opener? When you've played with your fellow mates on offense so seldom. Well he's probably been playing football since the fifth or sixth grade. And he's been handing off a lot during that time. Quarterbacks do that. And I don't think that's going to be too hard for him. Because he's going to be giving it to 34 a good bit. Especially if his ankle is healed and he's able to go in the game. So we're going to see a lot of that. Hopefully Carolina will have to come up to stop that and hit some long passes and have a win in the opening game. Well the Saints get a win tonight. Though it was none too impressive. A crazy preseason game in which the Saints prevail. For Mike Haas and Archie Manning. This is Jim Henderson saying goodbye for the 1999 preseason. Thanks for being with us everybody.
