Well, Houston school officials made countless attempts to help the troubled Peter Cantu, but now the 19-year-old faces death row. Cantu was convicted of capital murder in the rape and killing of two teenaged girls. In day two of the punishment phase, prosecutors called school counselors and principals who knew him from 1988 to 1992. They all testified Cantu was vulgar, violent, and threatening. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty because they believe he is beyond rehabilitation, and Cantu's friends say authorities are unfairly bringing up old problems. They're taking the bad side of the story of him. They're not taking the good side of him. I mean, he is being good to us and I think he's being there for us and it's our duty to be there for him. Morales says she's the girlfriend of one of the other four men charged with capital murder in the same case. Each will be tried separately.
