It's your participating Toyota dealer's 96 hour marathon. His greatest selection ever and just 96 hours to sell him. Toyota dealers got low price free option package. Sayonara from a playoff chance. All right, Sixers win over Washington 98-97. New York over Indiana 111-86. That's in the fourth quarter. The Knicks, I think, are the team they really have to beat. Although now you have to watch out to see if they can catch Indiana. Boston over Milwaukee. Detroit over Cleveland. And four games are late. Phillies have not had a good road trip so far and they are only playing in the second game. Now offense was supposed to be the team's strength. Yet in this Pirate series, the Phillies have scored only one run and they lost again tonight. Seven-nothing to Pittsburgh. For those pictures, let's go back to Pittsburgh on a game seen here on Channel 29. Bruce Ruffin, I guess you can't blame Bruce for everything. Error right here by Von Hayes. That was in the Pirate first inning. Pirates going to take a three-nothing lead. Brian Fischer right to center field. Oh, I'm telling you, four errors tonight by the Phillies. Not a pretty sight. Brian Fischer, the pitcher for the Pirates, retired Kirkton Merell including that strike out against Mike Young who started tonight in right field. Pirates try a little extra here. Wally Richie now the pitcher. Pirates try double steal. Throw down to second. O'Reilly comes home. Vance like out. But maybe it's one of the highlights of the game. Now how dull can things get when a Pittsburgh fan comes out to shake hands with Al Pedrique? Al Pedrique? Why would you want to shake hands with him? It's been the highlight of this game. It certainly has, but the Phillies lose it seven to nothing. Chicago Cubs had a good start until they went into St. Louis. New team in first is the Pittsburgh Pirates right now. The cards won again today for those pictures. Let's go to St. Louis. New first baseman, Bob Horner. Not known for his defense, not known for his living ability, and not known for giving us the scores. But Bob Horner tries to do it all. The Cubs in the ninth inning tried a little razzle dazzle. Steele to try to tie the game up. It doesn't happen. If you look at the replay though, it looks like he was, yeah, looked like he was safe. All right, scores in the National League. Pittsburgh over the Phillies. St. Louis beat Chicago four to three. They won two in a row there. San Francisco comes back to beat Cincinnati five for that one. 11 innings. Atlanta still has not won a game. They ought to have a World Series between the Atlanta Braves and the Baltimore Orioles. Both pitiful. Yankees over Toronto. Milwaukee loses to Boston. Baltimore, that new manager's really done the trick in Baltimore. 9-3, Kansas City leads in the ninth. And Cleveland over Minnesota 6-3, two games are late. Flyers play game six of the Stanley Cup Playoffs Series against the Washington Caps tomorrow night at the Spectrum. There is a game six because the Flyers lost last night. Bill Perry takes a look at some of the problems. Again Ron Hextall was shaky. Again Ron Hextall was pulled from Mark LaFarge. And again Mike Keenan said he'll decide on his goalie for the next game on the day of the game. That's tomorrow night, game six at the Spectrum. Washington no longer fears Hextall. He's definitely not in the position where he was last year. You know last year he played unbelievable and I think he, the whole season he hasn't played like that and I think it definitely helps us a lot. And now the pressure has shifted to the Flyers. Thank you. You know if we don't get by this round there might be some changes here and I think it's desperate for more franchise, or not franchise but just a desperate series for both teams. You know we certainly want to win the series. We want to win all six games. We want to win the first game. Fill it up. If you had to come back here, could you do so with confidence? I'll think about that on Friday. I'm not going to think about that between now and Thursday night's game by any means. By winning at home last night, Washington for the first time in its playoff history won a game while facing elimination. It's a big step for us. It's a big step for the franchise. We're not out of the hot water yet. We're in the exact same situation on Thursday. If the Flyers don't close this thing out in game six they would have to come back here Saturday night for a seventh and deciding game. And believe me, they don't want to do that. In Landover, Maryland, at the Capitol Center, I'm Bill Perry, the 10 o'clock news. But the perspective of this thing is the Flyers still lead the series three games at 2-0. They're not playing as well as they really should. Once I think, a really sick note, last night the Flyers come back from the Washington game. They park over at the Coliseum in Voorhees, New Jersey. Mike Keenan comes back to find his car, vandalized, windows broken, tires slashed. It's not that bad that when you lose a game, that's right, you have to bury the coach's car. That's pretty sick and pretty sad. All right, thank you Howard. And finally tonight, King Gustav and Queen Sylvia of Sweden got the royal treatment in the Delaware Valley today. They were here to celebrate the 350th anniversary of the first Swedish settlement in the United States. As Laurie Savage reports, the day's events began in Wilmington, Delaware. The royal couple marked the occasion by reenacting the landing of the first Swedes to settle in the New World. Visiting royalty is just about the best excuse there is for a show of ethnic pride. This makes us feel pride that we've always had, but it makes the whole world realize that we are here, we are very excited and very much a part of this country. But Americans weren't the only flag waivers in the crowd. This group came all the way from Finland to see the Swedish king and queen in America. 1988 has been declared the year of New Sweden. I take great pride in this honor bestowed upon my country. At Wilmington's town hall, the couple dedicated an exhibit of artifacts found in the wreckage of a 17th century Swedish warship. Then in South Philadelphia, crowds gathered at the American Swedish Historical Museum, where a Lenape Indian descendant presented gifts similar to those his ancestors would have given. A beaver pelt and some tobacco. The king and queen say the historical significance of their visit to the Delaware Valley has made it a high point so far in their American tour. The royal Swedish visit continues in New Jersey tomorrow. In South Philadelphia, Laurie Savage, the 10 o'clock news. That's our news for this Wednesday for Howard Marie and the entire 10 o'clock news team. Thank you for joining us. I'm Lee McCarthy. Good night.
