Given the old heave ho we hear from the reporter who was kicked out of a Donald Trump news company. Thank you for joining us first night at 10 o'clock. Private prisons they've been debated nationally and here in Arizona. Well now the company that managed the Kingman prison no longer in charge. Fired by the state after report reveals all kinds of problems with the way that prison was operated. The report brings to light underlying issues that led to the mass riots at that prison last month. Danielle Miller joins us live now with more on this story pretty decisive action by the governor today. Yeah Troy definitely was this report was conducted by the department of corrections. Now governor Ducey says what happened in Kingman during the riots was frightening disturbing and unacceptable and this report was to air out the facts and to make sure nothing was swept under the rug. This is not the first time we've had problems there but it is my intention that this is the last time we will see problems there. Governor Doug Ducey terminating the state's contract with management and training corporation the group that operates Arizona state prison in Kingman. This after riots left housing units so badly damaged that more than 1200 prisoners had to be moved to other facilities in early July. A full report of the facility by the director of the department of corrections Charles Ryan soon followed. Director Ryan and his team conducted approximately 300 interviews with employees of the prison operator MTC and some 400 interviews with actual inmates. That report found that more than a third of the MTC performance discrepancies identified in 2010 after three inmates escaped from the same facility and killed a New Mexico couple are still the same five years later. Several other alarming finds pointed out in the report. Crisis intervention is a two-day block 16 hours worth of instruction MTC condensed it to 90 minutes that's unacceptable. Both Ducey and Ryan say MTC wasn't forthright and actually encouraged their employees to be disingenuous with the DOC. MTC releasing a statement saying the study and its allegations are unfound and the DOC never gave them a chance to respond. It says quote, the notion that we had a culture of disorganization, disengagement and disregard of ADC policies and fundamental inmate management and security principles based on one investigation that spanned a few weeks doesn't consider the overwhelming positive audits ADC has conducted over the last five years. Ducey says similar assessments for all of the other private prisons have already begun. He says the MTC will be responsible for to paying for those damages to the prison and not the taxpayers. The state will now start the legal process and begin its search for a new management group. Reporting live Danielle Miller Fox 10 News. Economic security worker named Angela Ingram under arrest. This is an older mugshot of hers. Ingram is accused of using somebody else's identity to get food stamp benefits. One of those cards that pays for food. Detectives say he used an inmate's name to get the food stamp benefits. They say she was caught on surveillance video using that card a number of times over the past six months. The monsoon strikes again and you're saying what are you talking about? It was dry down here. Yeah but not up in Cottonwood. Some areas up north really got hit. Christy Siefkin went in search of the storm and she brings back this report. The rain was really coming down hard earlier today when we arrived in Cottonwood. Around lunchtime temperatures were still in the mid 80s but after all of that rain the numbers dropped down into the 70s. Several strong cells moving through cottonwood leaving close to four tenths of an inch of rain. The thunder just kept rolling and rolling as we crept up the I-17 this afternoon. The sun slowly disappearing behind the clouds as strong cells pushed over Mingus Mountain. Cottonwood the target of several heavy rounds of rain. Cars kicking up waves of water as they rolled through flooded streets. In the middle of the downpour some just skipping the umbrella others enjoying the cool air that the storm left behind. We had a lot more rain than usual. Seemed like we had a lot of lightning and thunder but it was refreshing that's for sure. It cooled it down quite a bit. I think it was 72 degrees in my truck which is really nice. Within an hour the rain came and went leaving a beautiful rainbow in the heart of town. A perfect example of the fickle Arizona monsoon. It was really hot but it's still raining. I don't know Arizona's like bipolar. We showed you some of that footage from Mingus Mountain earlier where all the rain was moving in before it got to cottonwood. They got close to an inch and a half of rain in just a few hours. Now tonight in cottonwood things have dried up significantly still pretty sticky out here but everybody of course is wondering is more rain on the way and for that we'll send it on over to Dave Muncy. We'll see Dave in a few minutes but in the meantime crews battling a fire at a recycling plant in Phoenix. Sky Fox was over this this afternoon at 31st Avenue in Broadway. Big piles of metal. It's to be a metal recycling plant so not sure what was burning here. Probably just you know some of the oil and stuff that's down in there but thick black smoke no word yet on exactly how that fire was sparked. The last few homeowners are in Awetuckie neighborhood moving out today because that neighborhood is soon to be no more. It's going to be the Loop 202 extension down to the south part of Awetuckie. There are nearly 200 homes are going to be knocked down beginning tomorrow. So today crews are doing some prep work making sure the homes are safe to tear down getting out asbestos and things like that. Meanwhile people still living in that neighborhood packing up the very last of their belongings. I hate the idea. I don't like it because I've been living here for past 30 years in our Twokie area. This is a great community. They're gonna ruin that. ADOT did not want to do an interview before this demolition begins but again we'll have some video of these houses being torn down for you tomorrow. A dog gets loose on I-10 bringing morning traffic to a standstill for a while. There's a dog cruising through the deck tunnel. You know how crowded that is if you've driven through there. Yeah dog just kind of walking down there. DPS officers try to get the dog back to safety and here they are right there. The troopers are kind of you know kind of heard the dog with their with the cruiser there and so the dog kind of leaves for a second and then turned around and went back into the tunnel but eventually found a sidewalk and got out okay. It is the latest in a series of clashes between Donald Trump and the media. Tonight we hear from the television news anchor the national news anchor kicked out of Trump's press conference in Iowa. And family and friends of Allison Parker and Adam Ward sharing memories tonight of the two journalists killed well on live tv. I'm Jessica Flores. I'll have that story coming up. And take a second to keep in touch with me on social media on my Facebook page. A lot of you are responding to a video I posted with some of my personal feelings on what happened in Virginia this morning. So it's Troy Hayden Fox 10 if you want to go see that. We'll be right back. Lightning hit a tree causing it to come crashing down. The new South Mountain Freeway will provide a direct link to an east and west valley but before construction can begin there's a lot of work to do. I'd like to thank my lovely assistant for the morning Corey McFoskey. Everybody give it up. Very nice. You're watching Fox 10 News with Troy Hayden in HD. Two firefighters and another person hurt in a fire at a building that houses the office of Chicago's famed Second City Theater Company. The flames didn't reach the theater but the Second City Theater launched the careers of scores of comedians including John Belushi and Tina Fey and Bill Murray. So these are the offices of the theater. The fire apparently started in a kitchen restaurant next door. Detectives are still searching for a motive trying to find out why a former reporter will kill two young Virginia journalists on live TV. Although I suspect they'll never find a motive that makes any sense. 24-year-old Allison Parker and her photographer 27-year-old Adam Ward interviewing a member of the Chamber of Commerce on the Economy live this morning. It was a typical morning TV show live shot when Vester Flanagan who went by Bryce Williams on the air. He'd been fired a couple years ago. Walked up and shot all three killing Parker and Ward and wounding the woman they were interviewing at the time. He took off and officers license plate reader spotted the car he was in. Flanagan then shot himself, crashed the car as officers closed in. He later died at the hospital. Two hours after he shot and killed Ward, Flanagan faxed a 23-page manifesto to ABC News talking about several mass shootings claiming racial discrimination at work. The general manager at the station says Flanagan was just an unhappy and angry man who was eventually fired for his behavior. Meantime we're learning more about the two victims killed in this horrible shooting. Both were very young journalists just starting out. Their whole lives ahead of them. Jessica Flores is live now with more on them. Jess? Hey Troy, thanks and it's definitely with a heavy heart that any reporter has to report this tonight. Reporter Alison Parker was just 24 years old but she was a regular on her station's morning show. Both she and photojournalist Adam Ward work side by side regularly but tonight their families are trying to cope with the reality that they won't be coming home. Alison Parker described as a bright and vibrant young woman who had her entire career ahead of her. She recently celebrated her 24th birthday with her boyfriend and WDBJ evening anchor Chris Hurst. The couple who had just moved in together talked every night after he got home from his late shift and she got ready to go to work. She would always text me. We would always be concerned texting each other when we got to work safely and she texted me good night sweet boy and that was the last that I had ever heard from her. Parker grew up in nearby Martinsville, Virginia and graduated from James Madison University. Her photographer Adam Ward had been with the station for four years. He was engaged to the producer for the morning show and she was in the control room when the shooting occurred. Ward and his fiance were planning to move to a bigger city later this year. As for Alison Parker, her family is devastated. Earlier tonight her father talked about his daughter's spirit and the effect she had on everyone around her. We can only take some solace in the fact that she had a wonderful life. She was extremely happy and she loved this guy with all her heart and that's the toughest thing for me that she everybody that she touched loved her and she loved everybody back. And memorial services for both victims haven't been announced yet. Meantime the third victim in the shooting was Vicki Gardner. She was the one being interviewed when the shooting happened. She was shot in the chest and rushed to the hospital but tonight she's listed in stable condition. Reporting live, I'm Jessica Flores, Fox 10 News. Thank you Jessica. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he is proud of kicking one of the country's best known Spanish language journalists out of an Iowa news conference. Univision reporter Jorge Rodriguez is here to speak. Univision reporter Jorge Ramo says he spoke out when Trump refused to recognize him. Tonight on Fox is Kelly Files. He says Trump has been ignoring him for weeks. Other experts say it was confrontations like this that'll keep Trump's poll numbers up. Go ahead. Many weeks ago I requested an interview with Mr. Donald Trump. I sent him a handwritten note with my cell phone. Instead of returning our phone calls or calling me, he published it online. I think a lot of people are attracted to that regardless of who it is that he's attacking. Trump has a 500 million dollar lawsuit against Univision where Jorge Ramos works for breaking a contract with Trump to broadcast the Miss USA pageant over Trump's remarks about Mexican immigrants. Well there's a little bit of moisture left over hanging around the state tonight. Slight chance of a shower might be a little chance tomorrow afternoon. We'll straighten it all out in just a few minutes. Your exclusive Fox 10 AccuWeather forecast with Dave, Corey and Kristy all day on the valley's new country leader 1025 KNIX. Fox 10 news is back. Strange way to help save lives that this is what they're doing. NASA dropping a 1974 Cessna from 100 feet up. Basically crashing it to learn more about aviation safety. It's a test of the emergency locator transmitter installed on all commercial private planes and they help with search and rescue. When a plane crashes like this, the impact is detected and a distress signal sent to a satellite. But the system right now fails quite a bit. NASA's hoping to improve it by this test. Your exclusive AccuWeather forecast with Dave Munsey on Fox 10 news. I've flown with that pilot. That's not good. I'm glad you're here Dave. I'm glad I'm still here. I could have got either way really. I saw that impact. It was really storming up north a little bit. Kristy brought back some interesting pictures. We saw that story from Cottonwood and I have a shot of that. You'll be able to see the moisture rolling through there. Give people an indication as to what happened. There's still some moisture out there. Not quite that kind of moisture. It is drying up a little bit across the state and as it does that, it's going to warm up. 98 right now. A few clouds out there. Winds out of the southeast at 8. 58 degrees on the dew point. 27 percent on the humidity. And as we look at some of these temperatures right now, 98 at Fountain Hills, 95 in Chandler, 98 at Surprise. Up at Deer Valley, 95 degrees right now. There's some moisture. I was talking about a little bit of that stuff kind of still finding its way in here. And as it does, we'll kind of scoot around and see what's going on. Not much going on in the central city. We do see a little patch here and there. You can see some moisture sneaking up on us here and there. So we leave a little chance in the forecast for picking up some of that moisture coming out of the south here. You see a pretty big batch of it earlier, but kind of wearing out a little bit. Now we take a run up to Cottonwood. You see all that rain earlier, but look at how dry it is up there in the last hour or so. But earlier, big, big batch of moisture. Get one more look at it running right through that area up there. And they did pick up some very good rain. And you can see that stuff drying up in the north and kind of drying up everywhere except that eastern border area. We're still seeing some pretty good moisture through that particular area. So with that in mind, one hundred six for the high today, one hundred four in Mesa, one two in Chandler, one hundred three out at Luke, one hundred four is the norm. One hundred seventeen is the record high for the day. Other numbers that we have from around the state, 72 in Flagstaff, 76 at the Grand Canyon, one hundred five at Lake Havasu in Globe 90, one hundred two in Casa Grande. There's your normal line from one hundred four to one hundred three over a 10 day period. That's the most interesting. And that's going to be Friday, Saturday at one hundred and nine degrees. So the hot zone remains and we'll be back to it. One hundred six on the high today, 84 on the low one oh four and 82 would be your normal high and low record high one seventeen record low at sixty five across the country. It is the west and the central portion of the country. Look at those big storms developing in South Dakota. They've had some pretty good stormy weather throughout the year. And then down through Florida, we see a few storms as well. This is your forecast for the night. We'll be looking at a few clouds, little chance of rain through the day tomorrow as well. One hundred seven, one nine on Friday, one nine on Saturday backs off a little on Sunday, a little bit more as we get into next week. Watch your kids around water. Thank you, Dave. A Massachusetts family is suing its child school, claiming the school's Wi-Fi network is making their kids sick. How many says his 12 year old son has electromagnetic hypersensitivity syndrome and do the radio frequency emissions from the school's Wi-Fi network? Family says the Wi-Fi triggers headaches, nosebleeds and nausea, and their son is miserable. By having to go so far as to file a lawsuit, the family is able to help get this conversation started nationally. Then I think that would be terrific. Yeah, I was thinking I've never heard of this before. The school says a company it hired found safe level, though, of radiation on campus. The economy is rebounding. And what are you doing? You're stuck in traffic and it's costing you more than it has in a long time. We'll explain when we come back. Close captioning is brought to you by Living Space. Live from Fox Studios, Fox 10 News is back. Well things aren't exactly rosy, but at least the hemorrhaging has stopped on Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average soars more than six hundred points today. Its biggest gain in seven years. One day gain, but it follows a six day losing streak. Blame the part on unsettle conditions in China and the Dow to fall in nineteen hundred points over that same period. So we're still down quite a bit, wiping out more than two trillion dollars, at least on paper. You don't lose anything unless you sell right. A new study out today found American drivers are stuck in traffic five percent more than they were even back in 2007. And that could be costing you some money. The Texas A&M Transportation Institute said a better economy, more jobs and cheaper gas. They all come with a downside. Now, what I think is interesting about these numbers is as much as we talk about traffic as an indicator of the health of our economies, you know, when the economy starts to get good, what happens is traffic congestion becomes a drain on these economies as well, because when you spend more time getting to work and to get around town, you're using more gas. Yeah. So how much time do Valley drivers spend stuck in traffic, according to the study, about 51 hours a year on average. And if you think we have traffic problems, how about this video released by the Massachusetts police showing determined drivers underestimating a bridges clearance. And oh, no, that is not good. Locals have dubbed the bridge. I don't even know what the heck they're talking about lobster apocalypse. Over the past year, a number of truck drivers have gone plying right through the clearance and they hope by releasing this video, truck drivers will be alert and not take these kind of chances. Boy, that takes it right off the top. Didn't you have like a Dodge Ramler that you tried to do something like that? That happened to me in a Matador in a really low bridge. I found it interesting. The guy driving the truck kept driving. He just kept driving. Hey, you just got to drive through it, play through it, right? What about the sacks for Carson Palmer? Is it a bit of a concern? The quarterback and the guys in front of him will talk a little. I want to talk about key to the season is keeping this guy up right next. What am I supposed to be scared? So simple, but so true. I'm talking about one major key to success for the Cardinals upcoming NFL season. Protect Carson Palmer. Keep him on his feet. That was not the case Saturday against the Chargers. How about the spin move by Melvin Ingram to get to the veteran quarterback? And you could see it again right around right tackle. And this can't happen. You can't get clean shots like number 54 had on the veteran QB. And then you look at Donald Butler, who comes in clean, untouched to sack Carson Palmer. And certainly you can imagine this week during practice, it was an issue. Carson Palmer talking today about the importance of protection. You got to know. He's been screamed at and yelled at about it so that, you know, however, you know, whichever way is best for you to learn, all of those areas are covered from getting yelled at, from getting, you know, hugged up about it and walked through it to going over it and film. It's it's something that comes up and that's why we practice and that's why we have these games and we'll move on. Let's swing over to Tempe and it's the amazing walk on story from Mesa Mountain View, Jake and Brimhall. You know, every year or so, Todd Graham likes the fire and overachieving walk on. And you can see the running back right here. The little guy, five, made about 180 pounds, plays hard, a lot of heart, you can say kind of the Rudy of ASU. Well, today was very, very special when it was announced that Jake and Brimhall, the walk on the long shot, would be awarded a scholarship. Congratulations, man. Bright stand, Brim. National champion, set, set. The emotions started flowing because I couldn't believe it because they're already helping me live my dream. And, you know, just, you know, that much being able to, you know, pay for my education now, something that's really important to me as well. Special time and well deserved, certainly earned Joe Gargiola, senior back in the booth. The company is a legend, man. That was a special night tonight at the chase to see Joe G. And having a chance to share some time with Steve and Bob and then Paul Goldsmith blasted one of the longest home runs we've seen all season, 471 feet, one nothing Arizona. But Mark Reynolds, the former D back, comes back in the fifth with this home run to tie the game at one Arizona yet to break through this week against St. Louis. Colton Wong drives in this run. The Scottie is going to score around third heading home, two to one St. Louis. John Lackey, seven innings, seven hits, one run. And again tonight, here it is, Matt Carpenter, this single to right field scores, won the final three to one St. Louis Cardinals. They're good. Went again. Yeah, boy, they seem to win all the time. Thanks for watching. Have a great night. See you tomorrow night. Fox 10 is always on fox10phoenix.com brought to you by Ford McDowell Casino. Worth the drive. You can bet on it.
