Nervils in Tacoma with the information on how police found the one suspect arrested and what they know about the search for the second one. I'm standing outside the Tacoma Police Department, but it was actually Seattle police who were looking for the two suspects. The police say the two suspects were in the same room. The police say is both Jones and Hatfield are accused of several violent incidents throughout Western Washington. The big question is. Some of these have been prevented. For the last few weeks, the images of these suspects have been broadcast throughout the region as law enforcement work to find the teens. However, the business asked us not to name them out of fear they would be targeted, according to the police. The suspect was found dead on Tuesday morning, and the police say they found him in Pierce and King County Monday night. Hatfield is also in Pierce County. Detectives are investigating a homicide in universally placed just before four o'clock West Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to reports of an unresponsive person in a vehicle located in the 1800 block of Day Island Boulevard. Hundreds of jobs have been lost and concrete workers still don't have a contract after five months of a strike. A number of union workers are back on the job. Plant operators say it will take time to bring production back to pre strike levels. And while major infrastructure projects can restart Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell says that's too soon to know if repairs can happen quickly enough to hit the target reopening for the West Seattle Bridge. People in West Seattle are tempering their expectations. The fact that it's a possibility is at least encouraging. But I, uh, I'm not holding my breath. Union members tell us they're upset that some companies aren't bringing workers back immediately. A spokesperson for several operators says that will take time. Meantime, Alaska Airlines says it will cut flights because of staffing issues. The carrier canceled 20 flights today is expected to cancel dozens more this week. Both Alaska and Jet Blue announcing they would reduce flights beginning next month through the rest of the summer because of a worker shortage. More snow in the passes. This is a Snoqualmie pass where crews have been prepping for heavy snowfall. The maintenance supervisor tells FOX 13 that falling temps late tonight could make for slick conditions. He says it's really critical that people follow recommendations. The vast majority of our closures are simply because people are not following the traction requirements and they're ill-prepared and that's what really causes the vast majority of our closures up here on Snoqualmie Pass. At last checked, traction tires are advised and oversized vehicles are prohibited in both directions. All right, let's check in with our chief meteorologist Lisa Villegas and find out what's going to happen overnight, especially for people that have to travel. Yeah, so for those across the passes, we have to watch out for more of that accumulation. So just check in on those road conditions because they're going to change. In fact, here's what we're seeing right now when it comes to those past conditions. A little foggy by the way, temperatures well below freezing and we're seeing more of that accumulation in the form of snow. Yes, just because of those temperatures, right? And that's going to continue to be the case throughout the day tomorrow. So I do want to fast forward when it comes to the passes. We're looking at around at least three to eight inches of snow, but we're going to see some of that snow again. We're going to see some of that snow again. We're going to have more accumulation here for the next 24 hours. That's going to be significant. Also expecting more of that accumulation across parts of the Olympics snow level. Very, very low tonight down to around 1000 ft or so, and we're going to continue to drop by tomorrow. 500 ft by Wednesday, 400 ft cooler air in place. I mean, highs tomorrow for the low lands only topping out in the upper forties, and that's going to be pretty chilly. Even some of that snow is going to be going to be in the upper forties. So we're going to see some of that snow again. We also want to zoom in, even seeing some isolated showers when it comes to parts of the foothills. We are expecting some on and off showers to take place for the low lands because of this right here. Next system rolling right through and what we're seeing right now. Very spotty activity. That's exactly what we can expect overnight and tomorrow kind of on and off rain. Now as the temperatures continue to fall, this could turn into that winter remix, but we're expecting some showers and some of those temperatures will be in the upper forties. We have some injuries to pop up in the area, not like what we saw this morning, but it will still be present as the temperatures fall into the thirties. It is going to be cold tomorrow morning. A lot of us in the mid thirties, at least the majority of us, I should say now the showers they continue in the afternoon. I'll show you that forecast next. Public health experts are bracing for more covid cases in the coming months, but they are also concerned about the spread of the virus. The coronavirus virus, the coronavirus one subvariant has driven an increase in cases in parts of the northeast, forcing some universities to reinstate their mask mandate. But the Biden administration says it does not expect any substantial changes in their own mass guidance. The virus should not control our lives anymore. And at this point, we should continue focusing on protecting those who are not yet protected. Doctors expect infections to stay below normal. The CDC says the coronavirus virus is a potential threat to the public health. The hospitalizations could occur this fall when people battle the flu and other respiratory viruses. The city of Philadelphia is bringing back a mask mandate for indoor public spaces. The city's Health Department says they are no longer in the all clear zone for covid infection rates. Instead, there's been a steady increase in cases and according to health officials, mass are needed to prevent another wave of infections. The mass mandate will go into effect next week. The city of Philadelphia is bringing back a mask mandate for people who are not yet vaccinated. They have one week to prepare. Still ahead. It has been a tough couple of years in the largest public ferry system in the United States. Washington State Ferries carry tens of millions of riders every year from tourists to tractor trailers to everyday commuters. Rising numbers of passengers are increasing, and the number of passengers is increasing. The Ferries are taking a toll on the ferry system. Even if you don't take the ferry, the service has a major impact on our region. For example, the Edmonds Kingston Ferry represents an added economic impact of $62 million in annual spending. 955 commuter and local jobs and 61 million in annual labor income and the ferries have reduced the number of sailings, of course, over the past six months because of crew shortages. That's been very frustrating for the Ferries, and they're not going to be able to operate again. They're going to have to wait until the next year to navigate the future. This is not a bridge of a Washington State ferry sure does look like one because it's a simulator, but this is where they train the captains. But what the ferry system really needs are those people down below deck, but I know nothing about engines and how engines work, and it sparked me to come here. Ben is halfway through a year long training program at Ballard's Maritime Academy. It would have been a lot easier for him to get on the ferry. I'm a professional fisherman. I'm a professional fisherman is a commercial fisherman, and I've been commercial fishing for 10 years, and that's an issue for the longest time. Maritime relied on my dad sailed. My uncle sailed. That doesn't work anymore. Look no further than the cruise shortage at the ferry system. Would you like to have something like this? If you were training? Absolutely when Jim went to the academy and the ferry system, he started to see the difference between the two industries. The industry indicates the room he operates from as a ferry boats chief engineer. I found this industry. The industry never came looking for me this quarter in the advanced diesels class, and that's what the academy and the ferry system, a big donor to the school want to change a shift to actively recruit people into the industry. We're beginning to see some of that. But that's a massive cultural shift for the industry. We're not necessarily going to be recruiting people. We're not going to be hiring entirely based on crewing. We don't have enough people to run the boats. The fairies let go of 140 out of 1800 staffers who did not get vaccinated under the state worker mandate. Unclear how many were crew and the legislature does not allow incentive hiring bonuses to become a state worker. The ferry system has prioritized the runs in this order for a return to normal service. Only one boat service is allowed to run. The ferry system is planning to open in the fall of 2021, our biggest route traditionally, which is Seattle Bainbridge. We're trialing that right now. And once we can get kind of three weeks of two boat service, which would be normal for that route. We'll make that permanent. It's going to be some time before the ferry system returns those two boat services on those two boat lines, and not all of that will happen. By the summer. In Seattle, Matt Markovich, Fox 13 news. The ferry service is open for business. The ferry system is open for business. The ferry system is open for business opening. The affected routes are on your screen and will also have the list. On FOX 13 Seattle dot com. Tonight would have been a great night to be on the ferry. Take a look at this time lapse video of the sunset. Over Seattle really spectacular. Of course, you can see we got some of the clouds that are floating through, but some great sunset out there. Temperatures, though, are really cooling off tonight. I mean, we're already down into the thirties. Not even midnight yet. So let's check in with our weather forecast. We're going to see some of those clouds start to come in. So we're going to see some of those clouds. The low average is going to continue. Unfortunately here, David and Hannah, of course, good evening to you at home. Sallane Doppler View showing Yes, the cooler temperatures arriving because that dip in the gesture, but also experiencing some of that snow when it comes as higher elevations like the cascades, and now we're starting to see some isolated showers creep on in when it comes to areas like Westport and stretching down towards the south. So what we're seeing right here. Those spotty showers that continues to come in and then we're seeing some of those snow showers and then we're seeing some of those snow showers because of that big dip here in that upper level low pressure system. Not rolling out some of that wintery mix to take place. So with that we are expecting maybe a little bit of that dusting, but overall best shot for that will take place across the foothills and along parts of the coast as well, but overall not as significant as what we saw this morning. We don't have any winter weather advisories in place, at least for the majority of Western Washington. Now today we did see some snow showers and some of those snow showers continue to come in and then we're going to see some of what's taking place with our atmosphere here and the temperatures they are dropping a lot of us in the upper 30s lower 40s still holding on at least in Seattle and Everett over in Tacoma thirties over in Olympia 36 degrees. Yeah tomorrow morning we're definitely going to fall into those mid thirties. Even some of us in those lower thirties. So that's why we have to watch out for that snow mix here, but overall on and off showers and some of those snow showers and some of those snow showers and some of those snow showers and some of those snow showers and some of those snow showers and a few miles prayer for a lot of us today. Still a little breezy tonight and those wind speeds continue by tomorrow afternoon. We're talking about gusts up to around 25 miles an hour. So as we fast forward tomorrow morning, there's a low pressure system arriving. You can see that counter clockwise rotation, spotty action temperatures starting to drop. So a little bit of that wintery mix popping up early tomorrow morning, all of that transitioning into on and off rain throughout the day. Not ruling out those sun breaks as we come into the weekend. Tomorrow morning, a little bit of a low pressure system coming in with some snow showers coming up as it comes to parts of the cascades and the Olympics. Everything starts to taper off early Wednesday morning, however, still present when it comes to that wintery mix, but overall gradually decreasing when it comes to the amount of precipitation we're expecting even when it comes to what we had earlier this morning compared to what we're expecting tomorrow morning. Now tomorrow afternoon temperatures punch back up, but only in the forties. I mean, we're talking about 10 degrees below normal. We're expecting a little bit of a snowfall in the next couple of days. We'll see that. We'll see that tomorrow morning. We're looking at 40. A 45 down across the South. We're looking at more of the rain and the wind speeds picking up along the coast. Foothills morning mix and then we'll see maybe some of those sun breaks happening best shot of that happening in the afternoon hours for a mountain passes a temperature of only 32 degrees. So yes, more accumulation. We're talking about 3 to 8 inches for those passes. So as we take a look at the seven day forecast tonight, 37 degrees tomorrow, 47 morning rain, so we're expecting some of those high temperatures to come in the next couple of days. We have some showers and showers and hours in the afternoon as well through the end of the work week and then by the weekend. We do start to see some clearing happening just in time for Easter Sunday 56 degrees for the high and then we hit those sixties right where we should be this time of year, and that is a look what we can expect. Coming up a heartbroken mother asking for somebody to step up to help her five month old baby, the critical need this morning. We're going to be talking about the weather. Fox 13 weather is brought to you by your locally owned McDonald's restaurants of Western Washington. Take a treat retreat and enjoy a medium iced coffee all day for just $2. At Fred Meyer, we believe fresh is all about standards like for oranges. A mother making a desperate plea tonight for someone to step up to help her five month old baby. The mother is now expecting her baby to be sent to Children's Hospital because he's in need of a new liver. In fact, Benny is actually never lived anywhere else except the hospital. He was born with a rare metabolic disorder. And his parents were told at one point that their baby only had 24 hours to live. FOX 13 news reporter Jennifer Lee spoke with his mom about her hopes and dreams for her feisty little fighter. He is a baby. He's a little baby. He is a little baby. He's a little baby. He's a little baby. He's Benny as his mom likes to call him. He's a duck enthusiast. He has a little beanie baby duck that he absolutely loves. She's been by his side every step of the way since he was born in Las Vegas five months ago, he really truly is a fighter in a miracle, baby. And I mean, he just gives us so much strength. His mom, Kaylee was born with a rare metabolic disorder. She was born with a rare metabolic disorder. She didn't want to eat projectile vomiting. And they were going to do a sepsis work up in Las Vegas, but a doctor had a brilliant idea to check his ammonia. All of these are symptoms of a rare metabolic disorder called propionic acidemia. He's unable to process certain proteins. And if he does, ammonia can build up toxins in his body. He couldn't have done it without his family. He's been in the hospital for a long time. She's been with Conrad. He says her son went into lactic acidosis, which means he had an extraordinary amount of acid in his little body levels that have generally killed adults. The emotions this picture brings up that we really thought that would be. The only family picture we'd ever have with Benny. And we're so sad that he's not here. He's not here. He's not here. He's not here. He's not here. I just hope he gets that liver and he's on the road to recovery. Somehow Benny survived and doctors can explain it, but he also doesn't have any brain damage, which they expected. Instead, the five month old is now in acute liver failure. They told us at Primary Children's Hospital that if he didn't have a liver transplant, he would likely die, but they could not do it on a baby that small, which is why both mom and dad are still in the hospital. They are still waiting for a liver transplant to be released to receive a liver transplant status. One B is for somebody that is very, very stick and will die without a liver, and that is what what Benny is in the 28 year old says the last five months have taught her to be grateful and have faith every night I go to bed. My vision is just taking him to a park at like two and seeing him run and play and see him play and play and see him play and play and see him play and play for him in Seattle, Jennifer Lee Fox 13 news all Benny's mom wants is for him to be a happy, healthy boy, and she knows it's asking for a lot. But if anyone feels a tug at their heart to be an organ donor, you'd be giving this little boy the gift of life. How can you not so if you are interested, the first step.
