["Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 in D Major"] ["Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 in D Major"] Long before the starter gun cracks, the boundaries mark and the starting blocks set, there is the journey. The journey to set oneself apart, to overcome barriers, and establish a place among the world's elite. It is decided in a moment, but lasts a lifetime. An unspoken drive for excellence, a brilliant flash of victory or catastrophic defeat, and time stands still. It is the Olympic gold. How many have seen their reflection in its brilliance, their lives dedicated to one awe-inspiring gold? To feel the weight of it and the pride it instills as the highest achievement is claimed in a crowning glory. Long before the gold is won, long before the final event, the journey begins. Each will build a foundation to meet physical and mental challenges beyond themselves, inspired by dreams that will lead to the starting gate, heart-pounding, mind racing, body ready for the challenge of a lifetime. Inspiration and motivation come from the desire to compete at the highest level. Here, victory is swift, and dreams are shattered in an instant. Years of work and hope join with the roar of the crowd as time is suspended, and that endeavor triumphs or falls short. But what drives the will of a competitor? What provides the inspiration and inner strength needed to become an Olympian? For many, that inner strength comes from their faith in God. It is a faith that gives them a higher purpose, a purpose that some would say is worth more than gold. David Robinson, one of basketball's supreme talents, has played with the best and knows the challenge and commitment it takes to become an Olympic gold medalist. As you go out on the floor, people have an expectation of you to perform, and you have to perform to a certain level. What drives you is the competition, just the fact that, hey, this is another opportunity for me to go out here and do something special. You have to understand it's your team against their team. It's me or them. Only one of us can survive. A warrior on the court, the Admiral thrives on competition and the intensity of the game while earning respect for his consistency and courage. People say a dunk is only two points, but a dunk is more than two points, two points plus some intimidation. In addition to winning the gold medal victory at the Atlanta Games, David Robinson led his team, the San Antonio Spurs, to the NBA Finals and the World Championship. David Robinson has found that off the court, his faith has given him purpose and direction in life far beyond the game. I had everything. At least I thought I had everything. I didn't realize that I was being like a spoiled brat. And I said, thank you for everything you've given me. You've blessed me beyond hope, beyond comprehension. Man, he turned my life around 180 degrees. He turned my mentality around 180 degrees. And he gave me a joy and an ability to enjoy what I had that I didn't have before. The thing that keeps me driving is that I don't have to trust in what I can do. I have to trust in what God can do. So what God does is real special. It always exceeds what you think. And that's where my self-worth comes from. It comes from pleasing him. Now he's changed the look. It comes across. Anchor, goal number one. Named the woman soccer player of the century, Michelle Anchor has scored more than 100 goals in international play. But Michelle had more injuries than goals, concussions, knocked out teeth, broken bones, and more than 13 knee injuries. I'm kind of a kamikaze. I take a lot of risks. And when you do that, when you stick your head into places where maybe only feet should be, you're going to end up with injuries. I poured my life into this one thing. And now I can't play even for five minutes. So now what will I do? So I just kind of said, well, OK, God. You know, I can't do it anymore. I give up. My life is a mess. But you can have me. Whatever I have left, you can have me. Through years of injuries and the chronic fatigue illness that plagued her, she continued to play soccer. And then just prior to the 1996 Olympics, she injured her knee again. Here I am in the Olympics going for a gold medal. It was really this situation where I shouldn't have been able to compete. That gold medal is just a brief moment of tangible moment that I can trust God. I can trust him with the thing I care about most and I'm passionate about with my life. I can trust him with that. And also, it's not enough. It's not enough that. That gold medal is not enough. But it's a symbol of what is enough. The 1999 World Cup of Soccer marks one of the highlights of Michelle's career. The US team met China in the finals and through an incredible defensive effort, won the game to become the Women's World Cup champions. You know, he brought me to a crossroads where I had to choose soccer or him. And I chose him. But he gave me my soccer as well. Now the triple jump. Jonathan Edwards, the world record holder, about to take his first jump in the competition. Very fast on the runway, that great springer going in. Oh, my! Look at that. That's close to the world record. 18 meters, 16, a fantastic new world record for Jonathan Edwards. Oh, another big jump. And one of the great performances in the history of athletics. 18.29! In one incredible day, Jonathan Edwards from Newcastle, England jumped more than 18 meters, further than anyone in the triple jump. Breaking the record in each of two successive tries to become the new world record holder. It was kind of amazing. So it's been, I feel very blessed and very grateful for all that's happened to me through my sport. What for me makes it what it is, it's yes the joy of the sport, but it's the joy of knowing that this is what God wants me to do. I can't imagine doing what I do without my faith. And I don't think I would be the athlete I am without the faith that I've got. For me here and now as an athlete, there's a sense of God's commitment to me as I go into competitions, especially now as kind of the number one in the world. Everybody's sort of out to get me, and the focus is all on me. The fact that come what may, Jesus is in there with me in this competition, win, lose, or draw. I've got a relationship with God which will last forever. When I die, it's not the end of anything. In fact, it's the beginning. Considered one of the greatest runners in Kenya's history, Kip Kino became the first world record holder from Kenya and winner of two gold medals in the 1968 and 1972 Olympics. Kip Kino's legendary 1,500 meter gold medal run in the 1968 games in Mexico City produced one of the great upsets in Olympic track and field history. I saw myself on the finishing line. I raised my hand up and I said, I've done it. And I thank God for that because it was a dream, which I didn't expect it. Kenyans have come up very well. We train together. We encourage each other. Before we go for any competition, we always sit and pray that God, my performances is through you. My achievement is through you, your leadership and guidance. God has given me the opportunity to perform well on running. I know I didn't have any strength, but through him, I was able to perform. And I thank God for that. I think it's part of national spirit for Kenyans to follow what people like Kip Kino have been doing. In the 1996 Olympic 3,000 meter steeple chase, Moses Kiptenui won the silver medal in a running duel with fellow Kenyan Joseph Keeter. One of the premier Kenyan runners, Kiptenui credits his faith in God for giving him guidance and purpose in life. Jesus means a lot to me because flying all the way through to different countries, I know I'm there with my Jesus. Also competing in different countries, I know Jesus is with me all the way through. As captain of the women's US gymnastics team, Amanda Borden led her team to victory and the Olympic gold at the Atlanta Games. Her inspiring performances on the balance beam and in the floor exercise helped secure the team's title as world champions. Well, being on the Olympic stand for all of us is every athlete's dream to win an Olympic medal. I mean, I personally never thought that I would go win an Olympic gold medal. I mean, that was like more than I ever dreamt of. And standing on the awards stand, there's so many different emotions going through your mind. You don't know how to feel it. Obviously, you're excited. You have this huge gold medal hanging around your neck. It was just amazing for all of us. Amanda's faith in God has helped sustain her through the tough times with the pressures of training and competition and has given her strength and peace in every area of life. We all used to sit down and have Bible studies and relate a lot of what the Bible is about to our gymnastics careers as well as to our lives. And it really strengthened us as people as well as competitors. And it was three months before 96 Olympics. And I just said, you know what? I've done everything I can. And I have to believe in God that this is what's meant to be for my life. And it strengthened me so much as a person because I've done everything as I could as an athlete. My body was strong. I had to leave it up to him. When Atlanta, I pulled everybody together right before the competition. Everybody was nervous. But we got together. We said a quick prayer about keeping us healthy and keeping us strong. And we went out on that floor. And there was so much love out there and so much protection. And we had so much faith. And I think that really made the difference for our team. Josh Davis had a brilliant college career in Texas, building an impressive list of finishes against the best swimmers in the world. But Davis says the most important triumph in life didn't happen anywhere near a pool. Basically, I got very ill at the end of my freshman year. And that was where I think I reached the bottom of the barrel and had to look up. And that's where God was tugging on my heart to respond to the truth that he had made clear to me that Christ was who he says he is. From then on, it's just been a steady process. The change in Davis's personal life had a direct impact on his athletic pursuits. Christ working my life changed the intensity that I give to my sport. And that's all that God wants is to do our best. The world's eyes were watching when Josh and his teammates won gold medals in the 400 and 800 meter freestyle relays. Whenever the storms of life come, you know, in the circumstances that God allows, I think there's a time where you get shaken up a little bit. But then you always have to look back to the bottom line. God is in control. A key member of the women's US volleyball squad is veteran outside hitter Tara Crossbattle. Tara was a senior in high school when she first began her journey of faith. When she made the women's US volleyball team, a teammate invited her to church and Bible study. And that's when things began to change. No matter how I play, I honor him. And I know that he's given me this talent. And up or down, I'm praising him. And I know that he gives me the strength. Tara has earned a room full of medals and trophies. But it is her personal relationship with God that she treasures most. Claudio Taffarel has won many honors as goalkeeper for the world champion Brazilian soccer team. His outstanding performance on the field has earned him respect from both teammates and competitors as one of the best. My greatest joy as a professional was to win the World Cup in the United States in 1994. But after a few days, everything had passed, as do all things in life. But my relationship with God, that will never pass. Today, man is looking for so many ways to fill the emptiness he feels. If you're looking to fill this emptiness, go directly to the source, Jesus. When you are the last man between the ball and the goal, you cannot hide. One day, all of us have to appear before God. In that hour, there will be no place to hide. So it is through trusting in Jesus that we begin this relationship with God. Michael Chang is a world class tennis champion at the top of his game. Off the court, Michael Chang attributes the guidance and direction in life to his faith in God and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That foundation in the Lord is something that has been incredibly important for me. I started to realize that this God, that Jesus, is actually real. All these things happening in my life were not by coincidence, but that God had his hand on everything. You really only need to recognize that you are a sinner and ask the Lord to forgive you and just accept him as your Lord and Savior. From there on, every aspect of your life will change for the better, because you'll know not only what is right and what is wrong, but you'll have a great deal of purpose. And from there on, life will be a pretty good adventure. Jesus said in himself, he said, I am the way. I am the truth. And I am the light. Apart from him, there's no other way. He's in you, and he's with you. And it's knowing him and letting him transform you. God made me, from the beginning of time, God already had in mind for me who I was, how he's going to put me together, what my life would be. And he had a plan, a specific plan for me. Through Jesus, I knew that I don't own anything in this world. I came to this world with nothing. And I will live this world with nothing. So whatever I have or whatever we have in this home is for us to share. One of our sayings was, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And going into 96, we even had t-shirts made that had a big believe across the front of it. And it was just believe in God and have faith that he'll take you wherever you need to be. I think the most important thing for me about Jesus is that he died for me. You can look at it globally. He died for everybody, yes. And that's fantastic. But for me, the fact that he was willing to lay down his life so that my sins could be forgiven and I could have peace with God is just unbelievable. We've heard from some of the top Olympic athletes about the challenge of striving to be the best, the hardships of training, the pressures of intense competition, of victory and defeat. While the Olympics has brought them fame, success, and popularity, each of these athletes has found that their life must be built on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. And without him, all the games offered mean little. For each of us, he also promises a full and abundant life, a life with meaning and purpose. In commemoration of the Olympics, Inspirational Films presents this special edition of the motion picture Jesus. 2,000 years ago, there was a man who lived in Galilee. He offered new life and hope to all who came to him. His words still live today. And to all who listen, he provides peace and power and points the way to a full and meaningful life. His name is Jesus. This is his story. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. I am writing to you, dear Theophilus, an orderly account of the things that have taken place among us so that you may know the absolute truth about everything. In the days when Caesar Augustus was emperor of Rome and when Herod the Great was king of Judea, God sent the angel Gabriel to visit a virgin of the city of Nazareth. And the virgin's name was Mary. Fear not, Mary, for you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will call his name Jesus. How can this be? I am a virgin. The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee. Therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. So Mary traveled to a town in Judea to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who was also miraculously with child. Elizabeth! Mary! Cousin Mary! You're the most blessed of all women. And blessed is the child you will bear. For as soon as I heard your greeting, the baby within me jumped with gladness. My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. From now on all generations will call me blessed. Know, all men of Nazareth, that by command of Caesar Augustus there will be conducted a census of the subject territories of Galilee and Judea. All men must register forthwith in the towns and cities of their ancestral birth. And Mary went to Bethlehem in Judea to register with Joseph her betrothed. But there was no room for them in Bethlehem, and the only lodging they could find was a humble stable. Now there were some shepherds in that part of the country who were taking care of their sheep at night, when the angel of God appeared to them, and the glory of God shone about them. This very day in David's town your Savior was born, Christ the Lord. The shepherds hurried to see the newborn babe in the manger, and were the first to spread the good news or gospel of the virgin mother and the Savior's birth. A week later, when the time came for the baby to be circumcised, he was given the name Jesus, and Joseph and Mary took the child to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. And when they had completed all their duties according to the law of Moses, they left Jerusalem and returned to Nazareth. When Jesus was twelve years old, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem for the Passover feast. But when they started back home, thinking that the boy was with them, Jesus stayed behind. They returned to the city looking for him, and on the third day found him in the temple sitting with the rabbis and elders. Whose child is this who asks such questions? He's from Nazareth. We thought he had left with us. Please forgive him his zeal. All who heard him were amazed. Son, why have you done this to us? The father and I have been terribly worried trying to find you. Who is it that you looked for me? Did you not know that I must be about my father's business? And he came with them to Nazareth and increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and with man. In the fifteenth year of the rule of the emperor Tiberius, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea and Herod the ruler of Galilee and Annas and Caiaphas the high priests, the word of God came to John in the desert and he came into all the country about Jordan preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Turn away from your sins and be baptized and God will forgive your sins. As it is written in the book of the prophet Isaiah, someone is shouting in the desert, get the road ready for the Lord. Make a straight path for him to travel. Every valley must be filled up. Every hill and mountain leveled off. Winding roads must be made straight and the rough paths made smooth and all mankind will see God's salvation. Tell us, are you Christ? Tell us, are you Christ? Tell us! I baptize you with water but someone is coming who is much greater than I am. I'm not good enough even to untie his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. He has his winnowing shovel with him to fresh out all the grain and gather the wheat into his barn. And the Holy Spirit came down upon him in bodily form like a dove. He was a man of the earth, a man of the earth, a man of the earth, a man of the earth, a man of the earth, a man of the earth, a man of the earth, and he came upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, This is my beloved son, in you I am well pleased. And he came to Nazareth where he had been brought up. Hello. Hello. Peace be with you. And you, Master. Will your boat bear me, Simon? Yes, it will. Once there were two men who went up to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood apart by himself and prayed, I thank you, God, that I am not greedy or dishonest or an adulterer like everybody else. I thank you that I am not like that tax collector over there. I fast twice a week, and I give you one-tenth of all my income. But the tax collector stood at a distance and would not even raise his face to heaven, but beat upon his breast and said, God, have pity on me, a sinner. I tell you, the tax collector, not the Pharisee, was in the right with God when he went home. For the man who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. Push the boat out further to the deep water. Then you and your partners let down your nets for a catch. Oh, Master, we worked hard all night long and caught nothing. But if you say so, I let down the nets. James! John! James! John! Get your boat over and give us some help. Hurry! Fast, boy. What's the far end of it now? Don't overload it, Zye. That's enough. That's enough. Go away from me, Lord. I am a sinful man. I am afraid. From now on, you will be catching men. Jesus, I beg you to save my only daughter. Sir, have mercy. She's only 12 years old and dying. Please, please come with me. I'm sorry. Jesus! Your daughter has died. Don't bother the teacher any longer. Don't be afraid. She will be well. Do not weep. She's not dead, but only sleeping. Zye, arise. Give her something to eat. I'll take care of her. Tell no one what has happened here. And Jesus went up the hill to pray and spent the whole night there praying to God. And when day came, he greeted the twelve of them whom he named apostles. Simon, whom he also named Peter. And Andrew, his brother. James. And John. Philip. And Bartholomew. And Matthew. And Thomas. James, the son of Elphius. And Simon, called Zilotes. And Judas, the brother of James. And Judas Iscariot, which was the traitor. Blessed are you, Paul, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh. Blessed are you when men hate you and reject you and insult you and say you are evil, all because of the Son of Man. Be glad when that happens and dance for joy, because a great reward is kept for you in heaven. But their ancestors did the very same things to the prophets. But I tell you who hear me, love your enemies. Who are good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. And pray for those who mischeat you. If anyone strikes you on the one cheek, let him hit the other one also. And if someone takes away your coat, let him have your shirt as well. Give to everyone who begs from you. And if someone takes what is yours, do not ask for it back again. Do for others only what you would have others do for you. If you love only the people who love you, why should you receive a blessing? But even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, why should you receive a blessing? Even sinners do that. How could he touch her? How could he talk to her? Disgusting. No. Love your enemies and do good to them. And lend expecting nothing back. And then you will have a great reward. For you will be sons of the Most High God. For he is good to the ungrateful and to the wicked. And he is merciful, just as your father is merciful. Save us, Jesus. Judge not and you will not be judged. Condemn not and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Lead us in thy path, O Lord. I'd like to know this man. Do you think he might be the Messiah? No, no. It's in the morning. This Pharisee invited Jesus to have dinner with him. And Jesus went to his house and sat down to eat. Come along, children. Off you go. You heard me. Go. I missed you going with her. Good son. What is she doing here? She's crying. This man really were a prophet. He would know who this woman is who is touching him. He would know what kind of a sinful life she lives. I know who this woman is, Simon. Let me tell you something. There were two men who owed money to a moneylender. One owed him 500 silver coins, the other 50. Neither one can pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Which one then will love him more? I suppose that it would be the one who is forgiven more. You are right. You see this woman. I came into your home. You gave me no water for my feet. She has washed my feet with her tears and dyed them with her hair. You did not welcome me with a kiss. Since I came, she has not stopped kissing my feet. You provided no olive oil for my head. She has anointed my feet with perfume. I tell you then. The great love she has shown proves that her many sins are forgiven. Whoever is forgiven little shows only a little love. Your sins are forgiven you. Your faith is saved. You go in peace. I... Master. Master. John the Baptist sent us to ask if you are the one who is going to come, or should we expect someone else? Go back and tell John what you have seen and heard. The blind can see, the lame can hear. The blind can see, the lame can hear. Go back and tell John what you have seen and heard. The blind can see, the lame can walk. How happy are those who have no doubts about me? On to my shoulder. Can you see now? I can see Jesus. A sower went out to sow his seed, and he planted the grains. Some of it fell by the path and was trodden on, and the birds of the air devoured it. And some fell on rocky ground, and when the plants sprouted, they withered away because they had no moisture. And some seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with the plants and choked them. And some seeds fell in good soil, one hundred grains each. Master, why do you speak in parables whenever a crowd is near? The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God have been given to you. But to others it comes by means of parables, so they may look but not see, and listen but not understand. This is what the parable means. The seed is the word of God. The seeds that fell along the path stand for those who hear, but the devil comes and takes the message away from their hearts in order to keep them from believing and being saved. The seeds that fell on rocky ground stand for those who hear the message and receive it gladly, but they have no root. They believe only for a while, and when the time of testing comes, they fall away. The seeds that fell among thorns stand for those who hear, but the worries and riches and pleasures of this life crowd in and choke them, and their fruit never ripens. And the seeds that fell in good soil stand for those who hear the message and retain it in a good and obedient heart, and they persist until they bear fruit. One day Jesus got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, Let us go across to the other side of the lake. And as they were sailing, he fell asleep. The wind! Keep those boats on! Master! Master! The sail's very... We're about to die! The waves are swamping us, we're all drowned! Help us, Master! Where is your faith? And they sailed on over to Gadara, which is across the lake from Galilee. Jesus, Son of the Most High God, what do you want with me? I beg you, don't punish me. What is your name? Legion. Lord, we beg you, do not send us into the abyss. Let us enter into the herd of swine. Hey! Come back! Stop! Stop! And the demons went out of the man and into the pigs. Go away from here! You, magician, leave us! Go away from this place! Leave us! Go away from here! I'll follow you wherever you go. Let me come with you. Go back home and tell what God has done for you. Master, send the people away, so that then they can go to the villages and farms around here, and find food and lodging. This is a lonely place. You yourselves give them something to eat. But all we have are five loaves and two fish. Blessed art thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who bringeth forth bread from the earth. Let us go. Let us go. Who are the crowds, Sire Iain? Some say that you are John the Baptist. Others say that you are Elijah. While others say that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life. What about you? Who do you say I am? You are God's Messiah. You shall tell no man of this. The Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected. He will be put to death. But three days later will be raised to life. Will any of you come with me? I will follow you, Master. But first let me go and say goodbye to my family. Anyone who starts to plough and then keeps looking back is of no use for the kingdom of God. If anyone wants to come with me, he must forget himself. Take up his cross every day and follow me. For whoever would save his own life will lose it. And whoever would lose his life for my sake will save it. What will it profit a man if he gains the whole earth and loses his own soul? If any man is ashamed of me and of my teachings, then the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and the holy angels. I have a request to pray, just as John taught his disciples. When you pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins. We also forgive everyone who is indebted to us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Take no thought in your life for what you shall eat, nor for your body what you shall wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens. They neither sow nor reap, have neither storehouse nor barn, yet God feeds them. Of how much more worth are you than the birds? Good teacher, what must I do to receive eternal life? Why do you call me good? No one is good save God alone. You know the commandments. Do not commit adultery, do not commit murder, do not accuse anyone falsely. Respect your mother and your father. Ever since I was young I have obeyed all these commandments. There is still one more thing you need to do. You must sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come and follow me. But we are merchants, wealthy. How hard it is for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. It is harder for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. Who then can be saved? What is impossible for man is possible for God. It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the smallest detail of the law to be done away. For I tell you many prophets and kings desire to see what you see and did not see it. And to hear what you hear and did not hear it. What should we do? What do the scriptures say? How do you interpret them? Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as you love yourself. You are right. Do this and you will live. Who is my neighbor? Not those soldiers. What about Caesar? There was once a man going down from Jerusalem to Jericho. When robbers attacked him, stripped him, beat him, leaving him half dead. It so happened that a priest came that way. When he saw the man, he walked by on the other side. In the same way, a Levite also came there. Went over and looked at the man and then walked by on the other side. But a Samaritan who was traveling on that road came across the man. And when he saw him, his heart was filled with pity. He went over to the man, poured oil and wine on his wounds and bandaged them. Then he put him on his own animal and took him to an inn where he took care of him. The next day he gave the innkeeper two silver coins and he told him to look after the man. And when I come back, he said, I will pay you whatever else you spend on him. Which one of these three acted like a neighbor towards the man who was attacked by the robbers? The one who was kind to him. You then do the same. Suffer the little children to come unto me and do not forbid them. For if such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the greatest. What's happening? What's going on? Jesus of Nazareth is passing by. Jesus! Jesus! Son of David, have mercy on me! What do you want me to do for you? I want to see again. Then see. Your faith has made you well. I can see. I can see! I can see! I can see! Oh, I suppose so. You stop. Move out of the way. That's the tax collector! Hurry down, Zacchaeus. I'm trying to stay in your house today. My house? I want to stay in his house. How is Zacchaeus known Jesus? A great scientist. Sounds very good. Oh, yes. Yes, excellent. Listen. I give half of my belongings to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone, I'll pay him back four times as much. I don't believe it. I think the plain bag is tattered. Salvation has come to this house today. For this man also is a descendant of Abraham. The son of man came to seek and to save the lost. Listen. We are going to Jerusalem. Everything the prophets wrote about the son of man will come true. He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him and treat him shamefully and spit upon him. He will be whipped and killed. But on the third day, he will rise. And Jesus resolutely took the road for Jerusalem. Rabbi, command your disciples to be quiet. I tell you if they were to be quiet, the stones themselves would begin shouting. Peace, honor, hail Jerusalem. To Jerusalem. To Jerusalem. To Jerusalem. To Jerusalem. To Jerusalem. Peace, honor, hail Jerusalem. To Jerusalem. Come on, let's go. It's got me thinking, David. My house shall be a house of prayer, and you have turned it into a den of thieves! Stop him, I'll kill him! Stop him! Stop him! Stop him! Stop him! Get the guards! Get the guards! I understand that many have already hailed him as king. A king? A king of beggars, whores and thieves. We've seen his like before. They come, they make their claims, they go. They're forgotten. Don't be blind. His following is growing by the day. The people admire him. And think he is a king. But he's not a king. He's a king of the world. He's a king of the world. The people admire him. And think he is a king. Let me give you a warning. If this man should threaten the peace further, I shall look to you. Perhaps he's right. It's time we confronted the Galilean. And as the hypocritical section of the scribes and the Pharisees came increasingly under his attack, so his following among the Jews grew. But so did the opposition from those he condemned. It's very little. Only a mite. Can't you give more? I tell you, that this poor widow put in more than all the others. For the others offered their gifts from what they had to spare of their riches. But she, poor as she is, put in all the living that she had. Delos, what right do you have to say these things? Who gave you such right? Now let me ask you a question. Tell me, did John's right to baptize come from God or from man? That's a good question. No. I think so. What shall we say? If we were to say from God, he will say why then. Don't you believe, John? But if we say from man, this whole crowd here will stone us. They're all convinced that John was a prophet. We don't know where it came from. Neither will I tell you then by what right I do these things. Now the festival of unleavened bread drew near, which is called the Passover. And Jesus sent Simon, Peter and John ahead to prepare the Passover meal. I have wanted so much to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will never eat it until it is given its full meaning in the kingdom of God. Blessed art thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who bringeth forth fruit from the vine. Take this and share it among yourselves. For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine. But I will give you the fruit of the vine. Take this and share it among yourselves. For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes. Blessed art thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who bringeth forth bread from the earth. This is my body which is given for you. This dew in remembrance of me. This cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is shed for you. But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. And truly the Son of man must die as God is determined, but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed. It can't be. It can't be. It can't be. It can't be. It's not possible. Name the traitor Lord. He is the Son of man. He is the Son of man. He is the Son of man. It can't be. It can't be. It's not possible. Name the traitor Lord. It's just not possible. You have stayed with me all through my trials. And just as my father has given me the right to rule, so I will give you the same right. You will eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. And you will sit on thrones to rule over the twelve tribes of Israel. Then there is no traitor. Simon, Simon, behold. Satan has desired to test all of you. To separate the good from the bad as a farmer separates the wheat from the chaff. But I have prayed for you Simon that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back to me you must strengthen your brethren. Lord, I am ready to go to prison with you and to die with you. I tell you Peter, the cock will not crow this day before the Jew shall thrice deny that you know me. And the council of the elders met to see how they might rid themselves of Jesus. Then entered Satan into Judas, surname Discariot, who was one of the twelve. Pray that you may not enter into temptation. Amen. Father, if thou be willing remove this cup from me, nevertheless not my will but thine be done. And an angel from heaven appeared to him to strengthen him. And his sweat was as though it were great drops of blood falling to the ground. Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you do not fall into temptation. Judas. Judas. Is it with a kiss that you betray the Son of Man? Lord, shall we smite with a sword? Come on, arrest him. Enough of this. Oh. Oh. This is a miracle. You have to come with swords and clubs as though I were an outlaw. I was with you every day in the temple and you did not try to arrest me. But this is your hour to act when the power of darkness rules. Arrest him. Arrest him. Guard him well. Go on. Go on. Here's a cloak worn by a king. You're going to save us, Your Majesty. Are you going to save us? What are you going to save us for? This man too was with Jesus. A woman I don't even know him. I saw them together. You're humble, sir. How does it feel to look after somebody? You are one of them too. But I am not. Good. There is no doubt that this man was with Jesus because he's also a Galilean. Go away. I don't know what you're talking about. Lord, we beseech thee, do us our heart in accordance with the greatness of thy power. Now, would you forgive our fathers when they rebelled against thy word? Who did you guess? I prophesy. Who'll hit you next? Stop it. Stop it, I said. Bring him before the council. Move. Tell us, are you the Messiah? If I tell you, you will not believe me. And if I ask you a question, you will not answer me. But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right side of Almighty God. Are you then the Son of God? You say that I am. We ourselves have heard what he said. We will take him to Pilate. They took him before Pontius Pilate, the most vicious of all Roman procurators, alone responsible for the crucifixion of thousands. And what do you want here at this hour of the morning? We caught this man perverting our people. He caused an uproar in the temple market. What will be his punishment? Sentence him. I see no reason to condemn this man, no reason. We found him guilty, telling them not to pay taxes to the emperor, claiming himself the Messiah. A king. A king? Are you the king of the Jews? So you say. He began in Galilee and now he has come here. In Galilee? Is this man a Galilean? In that case, we'll let Herod deal with him. He's still here in Jerusalem, isn't he? Take him to Herod. My lord, he has been corrupting all the people. He calls himself the king. This man? A king? Your majesty. Mark him well. Send him back to Pilate. This is his province. This man has done nothing to deserve death. So I will have him scourged and let him go. You are obliged to release one man to us at this festival. Release to us Barabbas. Barabbas. And away with this man. Crucify him! Yes, crucify him! Crucify him! You, you, scourge him! What are you waiting for, Pilate? For God's sake, kill him! Not Barabbas, Jesus! Jesus! Why do you torment him so? To crucify him! Set him free! He is the Messiah! Let Jesus go! Jesus is in our midst! He has done nothing! Back, get back! Get out! Back! What have they done to you? Keep away from him! Get back! Back! Get away! Get out! Back! Get away! Back! Back! Get out! Back! You, out of the way! Move when I tell you! Get out! Get out! You make a kid come down! You can't see! You! What's your name? Simon of Cyrene, sir. Step over here. Copper ropes! Oh, you're showing pity! You're showing pity! Oh, you're showing pity, eh? You! Carry him! Come on, move! Back! Back! Back! Leave him! Leave him! Move on! Clear the way there! Move on! Clear the way there! Move on! Clear the way there! Move on! Let me touch you! Oh, God! Oh, God! Oh, God! Help me! Help me! Back! Get back! Back! Back! Back! Back! Back! Back! Back! Back! Hurry along, together, you! Come on, come on! We ain't got all day! Come on! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Help! Save yourself! Save yourself! Save yourself! Save yourself! Save yourself! Somebody, do something! Somebody, do something! Help! Help! Get off with it! Help! Help! Stop! Ah! Ah! Ah! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Ah! Ah! Ah! I give them father. I don't know what they do. He has saved others. Let him save himself. Yes, come down to the cross. Come on, let's go. Save yourself if you were the king of the Jews. Save yourself if you were the king of the Jews. Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us. Don't you fear God? He received the same sentence. You did, but he has done no wrong. Remember me, Jesus, when you come as king. I promise you, today you will be in paradise with me. It was now about the sixth hour, and a darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour. The veil of the temple was torn right down the middle. Father, into thy hands I commit. My spirit! Glory be to God. Certainly this was a righteous man. Joseph of Arimathea, a righteous member of the council who had not consented to this deed, obtained permission from Pontius Pilate to lay Jesus' body in a tomb before the Sabbath commenced at sundown. You can take it. Is it God? Forgive us. We are following the body of our Lord. All are welcome, but come, the Sabbath is approaching. Very early on the Sunday morning, they came to the tomb carrying the spices they had prepared. Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen. Remember what he said to you while he was in Galilee. The Son of Man will be handed over to sinful men, be crucified, and on the third day rise again. Listen, the stone was rolled away. We entered and the body of our Lord was gone. And two men appeared to us, angels shining like the sun, and said to us, Why do you look for the living among the dead? It's true. Believe us. We saw them. Go and see for yourselves. The tomb was empty. Our Lord was gone. Easy, you must believe us. The Lord is risen indeed. He has appeared to Simon. We didn't recognize him. Not on the road. But when he broke bread, then we knew. But he may us, how strange he should go there. Peace be with you. Why are you troubled? Why are these doubts coming up in your minds? Look, my hands and my feet, and see that it is I myself. Feel me and you will know. For a spirit has not flesh and bones, as you see I have. These are the very things I spoke to you about while I was still with you. That everything written about me in the law of Moses and the writings of the prophets and the Psalms had to come true. This is what is written. The Messiah must suffer and rise from the dead on the third day. And in his name, the message of repentance and the forgiveness of sins must be preached to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And I myself bring the promise of my Father upon you. That you must wait in the city until the power from above comes down upon you. The Lord bless you and keep you. All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. The tomb in which the body of the Lord Jesus was laid is empty. Three days after his crucifixion, he rose from the dead. He is alive. The birth, the life, the death and the resurrection of Jesus all prove that he is exactly who he claimed to be. The Son of God, the Savior of all mankind. Almost two thousand years have passed since Jesus rose from the dead. And he still lives today as the greatest and most powerful influence the world has ever known. You have not already received him as your Savior and Lord, he wants to come into your life right now. He wants to forgive your sins and fill your life with his love and peace. He wants to show you a better life than you are now experiencing. A full, abundant life filled with purpose and meaning. He wants to give you his life, eternal life. Jesus says, behold, I stand at the door and knock, if any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him. To experience his love, peace and forgiveness and receive eternal life, you must receive him as God's sacrifice for your sins and invite him to come into your life by faith. If this is the desire of your heart, you can pray a prayer of faith and Jesus Christ will come into your life. The following is a suggested prayer. Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen. If you desire to invite Christ into your life, pray this prayer silently as I say it again. Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen. Having prayed this prayer of faith and invited Jesus Christ to come into your life, you can be sure that he came in on the authority of God's holy inspired word, the Bible. You can also be sure that your sins are forgiven, that you are a child of God, and that you have eternal life. If you want to experience the full and abundant life which Jesus taught, talk with him every day in prayer. Discover his wonderful plan for your life by reading the scriptures daily. Claim his promises and obey his commands. Meet with others who love and follow him in the fellowship of a church. Be sure to tell others how they can receive him too. Finally, remember always his wonderful promise. I will never leave you nor forsake you, though I am with you always, even to the end of the world.
