The bodies of the IRA bombers shot dead in Gibraltar on Sunday are to be flown back to Ireland at the weekend. Tomorrow Friday night at the earliest according to a Gibraltar undertaker. The Spanish Interior Ministry said the police had been watching the three, Daniel McCann, Sean Savage and Mairead Farrell for four months. Last Friday they flew into Spain for the last time and based themselves at the Hotel Escandinavia in Torremolinos. They booked in under false names before setting off for Gibraltar. Spanish security forces went to the hotel after the three were killed. There's been a small conservative revolt in the Commons over the controversial clause 29 of the local government bill which would ban the promotion of homosexuality in places like schools and libraries. Two Tories voted for labor changes to the clause but the government had a majority of 53. During the debate the conservative MP Jeffrey Dickens said homosexuals should not expect too much from the 90% majority but the shadow environment secretary Dr. John Cunningham accused the government of aiding and abetting bigotry. Inner city councils which sold off public buildings to raise cash and then lease them back say they'll have to review their budgets now that this has been made illegal. The government changed the law at midnight. The environment secretary Mr. Ridley said high-spending councils were mortgaging the future at the ratepayers expense. Brent Council in North London sold its town hall and other buildings for 30 million pounds and 200 million were raised by selling Manchester Central Library and other assets. Existing schemes remain so some London parking meters are at present owned by a French bank. Boxing Horace Notis retained his British heavyweight title in London. He stopped Trevor Curry in a rematch of the bout in which he won the title last year. Reg Gutteridge and Jim Watt of ITV Sport described the final moments of the fight.
