Hi, I'm Diane Squires. I've been Beauty Trend's beauty consultant since the very first issue. So many women have asked for more information about the care and styling of their new wigs that we've decided to show you just how easy it is. These styling and care tips are for all the wigs we sell at Beauty Trends, and because Beauty Trends is a Revlon company, you know you're getting the finest quality wigs available, including the latest fashion cuts from Revlon, the classic styles from Adolfo, and two great Dolly Parton wig collections. And today's wigs make it easier than ever to change your look in a snap. Hi, Diane. Hi, Carol. I just got my first wig from Beauty Trends, and since you know so much about wigs, I was wondering if you'd help me. Sure, Carol. It's really easy. Every wig from Beauty Trends is checked and prepared for shipping by a professional stylist. Beauty Trends packs each wig in a protective hairnet. Remove the hairnet, and be sure to keep it. Diane, this looks really different from the picture in the catalog. I know. That's because of the protective way it was packed. Don't worry. It'll look great in just a couple of minutes. First, I want you to gently shake your wig to separate the fibers. Like this? Exactly. All Beauty Trends wigs are made of a special fiber blend that holds its style even better than human hair. The fiber doesn't lose its curl, and the color doesn't fade. Styling is so easy. Now, fill your free Beauty Trends spray bottle with plain, cool water, and mist the wig lightly. Just plain water? Simple, huh? Water's good for the fiber and the curl. It also helps prevent tangles. With a wide-tooth comb, or one made especially for wigs, gently comb through, starting at the ends. Now, for straighter styles like this, you can use a wig brush with metal bristles, or simply use your fingers. Look what happens when I just spray and shake. I can get a great wet look without further styling. Carol, don't be afraid to experiment with your wig. You'll find lots of styles that will be just perfect for you. Place it on a wig stand or a doorknob to let it dry. Ever expose your wig to excessive sources of heat, such as hair dryers, curling irons, open ovens, boiling water, barbecue grills, and even some cigarette lighters, because the heat can really damage the fibers. Now we just have to wait a few minutes till it's completely dry. With my longer hair, how do I put it on? Well, you'll want to comb your hair and pin it down as close to your head as possible without any bumps. You can also use a wig cap liner, or both. Whatever feels more comfortable for you is what you should use. And what are these wings for? Those are ear tabs. They keep the wig close to your head, and in the back, you'll find adjustable Velcro tabs so you can size your wig to fit comfortably and securely. Okay Carol, slip on your wig and make sure that the front meets your own hairline. Now pull it securely down in the back, and then on the sides using the ear tabs. Be sure to tuck in any straight hairs. This looks great, and it was so easy. Now all I have to do is touch it up with the wig comb. Sure, if it needs it, the best thing to try is your fingertips first. Your styles will look much more natural that way. So many beauty trends wigs are shake and wear that you might only need a comb for a few finishing touches. You don't want every hair in place, or your wig will look really wiggy. With a little experimenting, you'll see that you can get lots of looks from each style. By combing out some bangs, or brushing it to one side, or by combing it closer to your head for a sleeker, straighter look. Diane, this is so quick and easy. I can have a different look any time I want. I wash my own hair almost every day. Do I need to do that with my new wig? No. Just spritz water on your wig whenever it needs styling. You'll find you can get many wearings between washings, depending upon your lifestyle. You know, things like perfume, smoke, wig sprays, and body chemistry. Because your wig is made from synthetic fiber, you must use cleaning products formulated specifically for synthetic fiber. Beauty Trends carries all the products you'll need. Never use baby shampoo, or your regular hair products, delicate fabric wash, bleaches, or dyes on your wig. First, you'll need to remove any tangles using a wide tooth comb or your fingertips. Then, pour a capful of wig shampoo into a sink of cold water. Submerge the wig and agitate it, gently dipping it up and down. Never rub or wring it. Now, just let it soak for five, ten minutes, depending upon the condition of your wig. What if there's makeup on it? You can easily remove any makeup from the front band with a soft brush or an old toothbrush. Then rinse it thoroughly to remove all the shampoo. Next, refill the sink with cold water and add a capful of wig conditioner. Let the wig soak for about five minutes. Then, comb it through while it's still in the sink and blot it with a towel. Diane, you forgot to rinse out the conditioner. Carol, leaving the conditioner in helps your wig maintain its original shape. Okay, now what? For wavy or curly styles, place them in their original hairnet because it helps them retain their shape. They come back to their original look better when they're allowed to dry upside down. Your straight style wigs don't need to dry in a hairnet, and they should dry right side up. When it's completely dry, you just comb it like we did when you first got it, and the style comes right back. Diane, this is so quick and easy. I can have a different look anytime I want.
