You You Oh Now is there anything else I'd need to know to do tricks very much so First thing you need to understand is how to put the string on the yoyo how that relationship works Pinch the string just about one inch up from the end and loosen up where you get a nice big loop slide it on the yoyo Now make sure that your string is the correct length it should reach from their belly button to the floor Take the string fold it over tie it into a knot Now cut off the excess piece of string using your handy-dandy string cutter or a pair of scissors if mom's watching You make slipknot put it on your finger push the string back through that loop you just made That is a slipknot Put it on your finger Preferably middle finger right behind the first knuckle No, no never only behind the first knuckle If your string is unwound you will need to wind it put your finger over the gap your index finger over the gap Start winding the string wind about three times with your holding it with your index finger then let go of that stuff Wind the rest of it up Wound your arm throw it straight down and turn your hand over and catch it just like that That's the first trick and it's called the gravity pull now when you're getting ready to throw your yoyo Make sure the string is across the top of the yoyo if it's across the bottom of the yoyo It's not going to work make sure your string is across the top of the yoyo now make a muscle holding the yoyo Hold your hand way up by your ear hold your hand way up by your ear, let go with your palm up, throw slightly in front of you so that it spins at the end of the string. If it spins, that's the sleeper. And this is the basis for doing most of the tricks, isn't it Doug? Making the yo-yo sleep? Right, and the harder you throw it, the longer it'll spin and the more tricks can do. Forward pass. Drop your hand down by your waist, make sure that you're holding the yo-yo with your knuckles facing outward, facing forward, there you go. Drop the yo-yo slightly before you throw it so that it comes out real smooth. Catch it with your palm up. Yeah, I know. I'm special. Alright, if you are in public and you have a yo-yo, you will be asked to do this trick, so you might as well learn it. It's called walk the dog. Throw a spinner, put the yo-yo on the ground in front of you, let it go on the ground, and that's walk the dog. Of course, these kids, they're well on their way. They've already performed three of the tricks. The gravity pull, the sleeper, and walk the dog. What's next? Another trick you'll be requested to do often is rock the baby. Try this trick first without the yo-yo spinning so you can take your time to learn it. Make a triangle with the string using your hands and rock the yo-yo through the center. Once you can do this quickly and efficiently, then try it with the yo-yo spinning. We can cut right to the spinning one. You need to take some patience with this trick. Form a triangle with your two yo-yo hands. And do it like that, baby! I got stuck. I know. Around the world, be careful with this one. You could hurt yourself or hit yourself in the face, like Chris does. Get ready to throw a forward pass, but instead of returning it to your hand, let it swing all the way around you in an arc. When it gets back in front of you, give it a tug and catch it palm up. Variations on around the world. Throw it backwards around the world, kind of like a sleeper, but it goes all the way around. You can throw it sideways, lateral around the world. This is a trick you might want to try outside or at friends house. Another variation on the around the world is the Texas Cowboy. It's sideways around the world, and you jump over the string. Dude, I'm not jumping! Dude, I hate jumping! Stupid jumping! Straight! Straight! Eiffel Tower. For French people like Chris, this is a good trick. Throw a hard sleeper. Make a slingshot with your thumb and forefinger on your yo hand. Pull the string through the slingshot. Reach through and pick up the string. Now turn your yo hand towards the right, and you've got the Eiffel Tower. It's actually much larger than this. Unfortunately, Chris's string is short. And one of my favorites, the flying saucer. UFO. Hold the yo-yo as though you were going to throw a sleeper. Now turn the yo-yo on its side and throw it to the right at a 45 degree angle. Pick up the string, and then tug the yo-yo to make it return to your hand. This trick, when done towards the right, will tighten, and when done towards the left, will loosen your string. Drop ease. Throw a spinner sort of sideways to your body. Take out your finger, and catch it back on the string. Nothing. Throw a sideways spinner, let it go around two times, land it on the string. Triple or nothing. Throw a real hard spinner around three times on the string. Now another unique feature of this program is the availability of a permanent staff of certified instructors. It's a journey, it's all well. At times it's tough, and the heartache bites. A lack of lesson, don't chance it twice. A precious fiction, and mistakes are made. A trick revealed in life for a game. A piece of heat, and don't look back. Or what you do is your own act. Take your guns and you survive that. That was just a gun. That was just a gun. Filling in the last hole with a twenty-sixer chin. Just my best. It's just the same again. Replay the game alone. That rewinds inside my head. It's a game to score. It's a game to defend. Game five. The battle's just begun. The battle's just begun. Game five. The battle's just begun. Game five. The battle's just begun. Poster. Throw a trapeze. Drop to a double or nothing. Pull your throw hand out. Unfold to a trapeze. Do a forward somersault and a reverse somersault dismount. Pinwheel. Throw a hard sleeper. Bring your thumb up along the string. Pinch the string up at its very top and swing the yoyo around. Drop the yoyo and give it a tug to return it to your hand. Another variation is to throw a trapeze, but miss, and let the yoyo swing around. Give the yoyo a slight tug for it to return to your hand. Preferably catch it. The brain twister. Brain twister. Throw a hard sleeper. Bring this yoyo up and mount it onto the string. Bring your yoyo hand back and hit the string in the very center and flip it over. Now take your non-yoyo hand, bring it down and around. The yoyo will come off the string and tug it to make it return to your hand. Split the atom. Throw a spinner. Do a split bottom mount. Free hand goes forward underneath the yoyo. Free hand goes forward into the double strings. Throw hand goes behind the yoyo. Do two rolls with your throw hand. Then dismount like a brain twister. Zipper. Not like the one on your pants. Starts with an undermount, goes to an over mount. A series of over mounts and undermounts as shown here. You're not doing it right Steve. The zipper. Throw a hard sleeper into a bottom mount. Switch it over to the front. Carry it over the top and remount it. Now switch it back over to the other side. Rinse, repeat and lather. Barrel roll. Starts with a split bottom mount, just like split the atom, and just like split the atom, the free hand goes forward first. Then it goes back over the throw hand. Free hand, throw hand, repeat and repeat. Chain reaction is a trick that seems to change as often as Steve's hair. So here's what it is today. Changed again. You're witnessing a change, gentlemen, ladies. The change in chain reaction, ladies and gentlemen. Well done Steve. This is a trick called chain reaction. It seems to change with Steve's mood. Here's what it is today. What kind of catch is that, man? That's the Mr. Brown catch. Boingy boingy. Start with a split bottom mount. Make sure that your strings are lined up. Then do the trick by pulling up with your throw hand only. Alright, Mach 5. Your string stinks, Steve. I hate that when that happens. Mach 5, throw a spinner into a split bottom mount, just like split the atom. Put your free hand forward just like split the atom. Then put your free hand just into the string close to your free hand. Pull both hands away from each other to make tight. Do a couple of revolutions. Leave your free hand forward to dismount. Pull your free hand back towards you and dismount just like brain twister. Inside loops should be done on the inside of your arm. That's why they're inside loops. When doing inside loops, make sure that your yoyo is flipping over. If your yoyo isn't turning over as you do the loops, it's going to be much harder to control. To illustrate this purpose, Chris is using a two-toned yoyo. Notice how the yoyo changes color, much like the chameleon, a predator in the jungles of South America. In addition to inside loops, you can also do loops on the outside of your wrist. Try alternating inside and outside loops for more control. Control is good. Remember that, kids. Shoot the moon. It starts with a forward pass. You throw it straight up and straight back out. This is one of the only tricks that the yoyo should not flip during the trick. The yoyo should never get closer than six inches to your hand. Hop the fence is a reverse loop done straight down. Notice the careful wrist motion to control the flipping of the yoyo. You'll notice that Chris is dead sexy. Punching bag is a reverse loop done outward at a 45 degree angle from the body. Come on. Let me out. I think I'm slipping, guys. This sucks. Yeah. Hey. Hey. Hey. This is my tool to get the string out of my yoyo when it binds. I get the string out, I get it all clear, and I put my tool back in its holder. It's something that's inside of me. It's something that I cannot see. I close the regulation, pass out the generation. The generation. Boy, these kids, they really look like they know their stuff. I don't know, dude. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. What's that? I told you. Yeah? You like that? Yeah. You like it when I do that? Oh, yeah, baby. Here's one for you. Just for you, baby. Boo-yah. Oh, yeah. How you like them apples, huh? Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hi, I'm Steve Brown. For freehand tricks, start with tricks you already know, like trapeze. It's all about releasing and catching. It's called a 360. For another release on trapeze, do a double on, throw the weight down, let it go all the way around back to your throwhand. For freehand pinwheel, throw a trapeze, miss it, release the weight. Continue doing this trick by giving the weight a slight tug, accelerating the motion. Brain twister with a freehand release looks something like this. Do a freehand nunchuck, get into one and a half mount, roll and release at the same time, catch the weight with your other hand. This can be done behind the back, under the legs, anywhere you want. Freehand atom smasher looks like this. Easiest way to do a freehand aerial is first from a brain twister mount, unroll it, throw the weight, catch the weight again. Go ahead and video this, because if this works, it will be amazing. This can be done behind the back, under the legs, anywhere you want. This can be done behind the back, under the legs, anywhere you want. This can be done behind the back, under the legs, anywhere you want. I'm a star. I'm a superstar. I'm a star. I'm a star. Oh yeah, wait, just in case you guys, let me make sure my aperture is right, huh camera boy? Would that be hard? Nothing makes me happier than seeing some kid pick up a Dunkin' Yo-Yo and rip some cool ones. I'm a star. I'm a star. I'm a star. I'm a star. I'm a star. I'm a star. I'm a star. I'm a star. Chris, it's a donut. Yeah, it is. Are you sure you're feeling okay, man? I'm fine, man. All right, well, you do your thing, and I'm going to go in the room and do the thing. Sicko. I'm sorry, man. Yeah! Off string play is quite exciting, much like Chris. To wind your yo-yo for off string, hold the string on one half of the yo-yo. Hold it with your thumb and wind the yo-yo normally. Just like that. Now, to throw an off string sleeper, you're going to throw a forward pass, but hold your free hand out so it hits the string and catches it as the yo-yo unwinds. To wind up your off string yo-yo, bring the little finger of the finger down and wrap it around the yo-yo. To do an overhand throw, throw a hard sleeper over your free hand. Tug back slightly with your yo-yo, and you're good to go. To wind up your off string yo-yo, throw a hard sleeper over your free hand, tug back slightly with your yo-yo hand, and then push your yo-yo hand forward to catch the yo-yo on the string. To do a flea bounce, throw a forward pass and then bounce it and stuff. To do barrel rolls, throw an over mount, hold the loose end of the string with your yo-yo hand, insert your finger and simply do barrel rolls. It's just that simple kids. Any child of 10 with 12 years practice can do it. To do a whip catch, throw an over mount, hold the loose end of the string in your yo-yo hand, pop the yo-yo up and whip it. That's it. I can't take it anymore. What are you doing? It gets cold inside. What are you doing? It gets cold inside. What are you doing? It gets cold inside. What are you doing? It gets cold inside. What are you doing? It gets cold inside. What are you doing? It gets cold inside. You know, John, the yo-yo has been with us practically forever. As a matter of fact, it's the second oldest toy in the world. Only dolls are older. The ancient Greeks played yo-yos. As a matter of fact, Napoleon soldiers took it into battle with them and played yo-yo when they weren't fighting. As a matter of fact, it's the most popular toy in the world today and has been for 50 years. Well, it's a cinch that the kids today had great fun with their yo-yos. Everyone gets two tries for each strip. Oh, this is not funny. I am not that sexy today. I am not that sexy today. I am not that sexy today. I am not that sexy today. I am not that sexy today.
