Music Good evening. Australia has demanded compensation from Iraq over the killing of an Australian trawler skipper in the Persian Gulf. Iran has already retaliated for the attack by opening fire with grenades and machine guns on an Indian tanker in the Gulf. A 48-hour shutdown of Melbourne's rail system will go ahead from midnight on Sunday after marathon talks today failed to resolve a deadlock over a 4% wage rise for rail workers. The arbitration commission has condemned the strike as futile and no more talks are scheduled for the weekend. Seven people are dead and at least 250 are homeless in the wake of an earthquake that rocked southern California.
