President Bush and congressional leaders today agreed on a compromise that will provide the
Nicaraguan Contras with four and a half million dollars a month in non-lethal aid through
next February.
But the aid can be cut off if Congress feels the administration has failed to pursue a
political solution.
Joel Steinberg, the millionaire lawyer convicted of killing his six-year-old adopted daughter,
was sentenced to up to 25 years in prison today.
The judge in the case said Steinberg had never shown remorse over the child's death.
Oliver North's lawyers announced today that they want to call former President Reagan
as their first defense witness in North's trial.
Reagan's lawyers are expected to fight any subpoena.
