Good evening and thanks for joining us for the Weekend Edition. I'm Roxanne Vynuku in tonight for Nicole Sanchez. We'll get to your top stories in just a moment, but first let's get a quick check of your weather with Mike McCabe. Well hey, tomorrow another beautiful day. Unseasonably warm once again. Look for a high of 85 degrees for Yakima, 82 in Ellensburg, 86 for the Lower Valley. Winds in the northwest at 10 mph and tomorrow for the Tri-Cities, lots of sunshine. Unseasonably warm again, 84 for the Tri-Cities and Pelton, 82 for Walla Walla. Any cooler weather in sight? We'll have that answer for you coming up later on. Back to you. I'm sorry, Roxanne. Thanks a lot, Mike. The Central Washington State Fair is in full swing and so far it looks like more people are turning out for the fun than did last year. The official numbers haven't been released yet, but fair organizers say they've already seen a huge turnout. Ticket takers say the numbers are up from last year and they say the good weather may have something to do with it. One employee's been working the turnstiles for three years. She says with schools getting out early tomorrow, they expect that will draw an even bigger crowd. Yes, the population has been outstanding. I think the weather has a lot to do with it. And I'm looking forward to tomorrow when the kids get out of school early and I know the numbers are going to just go skyrocketing. The fair runs through October 5th. Several fairgoers got a thrill they weren't expecting when a ride derailed. Passengers aboard the Orient Express say they felt a jerk when one of the cars came off the tracks. Operators worked to get the coaster up and running. Staff gave the riders their tickets back. One man says it was a pretty scary experience. We were just coming around that corner and the car flew off the track. Was that a little bit scary? Yeah, it was a little bit, but luckily it was a small ride, so it wasn't too bad. Now, fortunately, no one was hurt. Ride operators say rides are put through efficient safety tests and accidents don't happen very often. Yakima police are trying to figure out what caused a serious injury accident on the city's north side tonight. At about 7 o'clock, a car ran a stop sign at the intersection of River Road and North 16th Avenue. The car then crashed into an SUV. Three persons were taken to the hospital for treatment. Witnesses say it appeared that the car ran the stop sign, but it didn't have a driver. So investigators are now trying to find out if he had passed out at the wheel. The Union Gap and Yakima Fire Department joined forces tonight to stop a building fire from spreading. Just after 6 o'clock, flames broke out in this garage in the 600 block of west Atanum Road. There was a fear that the flames could set off dry grass and reach other nearby buildings. No one was hurt and the owner wasn't home. A portion of Atanum Road had to be shut down while fire crews worked. The cause of that fire has not yet been disclosed.
