Well, do you know when she's gonna be back? That's Vicki. You never know. Uh, cause I'd like to hang out if I could. We, I wanted to settle an argument we've been having. Rationally. That seems like a worthy mission. Good luck. Can I get you a soda? Yeah, thanks. Okay. Listen, I'm really sorry I barged in like that. Scared you half to death. Apology accepted. It's funny. What is? You, and you look just like her, but, um, you're definitely the kinder, gentler sister. Oh, don't be so quick to make that assumption. And why not? Because it's not true. Well, let me tell you something. The first impression you get of Vicki is one more of hell cap than lady. Well, that's just because you don't know her very well. She's actually a very gentle, loving person. Really? Well, tell me more. Only you would think that what happened to two other people was really about you. I thought you said nothing happened. You're impossible. Now, if Marley and I are so different, how come you couldn't tell it was me tonight? I did know. You didn't know until you kissed me. No one kisses like you, Vicki. Not even Marley? Stop trying to trap me. I'll stop when you tell me about niece. Fine. It was strange when I first saw Marley. Of course I thought about you. I knew it. But then I spent a little time with her. And I realized that Marley was a lot of things that you aren't. Like what? Like moral. Considerate. Patient. Totally honest. How about loyal? That too. Well, by golly, she's a regular Eagle Scout. I have to go. Oh, man, we were just getting to the good part. Oh, I'm sorry. This is important. We found a tissue match for a guy who needs a transplant. I have to go to St. Louis. Jamie, don't make me the bad guy in this. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I told you. I told you. You'll be all right, girl. You'll be all right, thing. I just need to get things done. You don't have to. I don't need to. Come here. Come here. You do that for yourself, Vicky. I told you, Marley and I were friends and niece. End of story. And the reason that it's not going to go any further is because Marley would never want to hurt you. I wonder if she'll feel the same way when she hears about this. There are times when a little nose needs a lot of comforting. When only your loving touch and the very softest tissue can make everything better. When it comes to comforting, you and Puffs have the touch. For soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies, use butter flavored Crisco with 50% less saturated fat than butter. You know all this isn't going to change anything. You never know. Yes, I do. I really care about you. Who knows, Paulina, you may start getting turned on by the gray flannel suit. I don't think so. Not even being a quarry could change me that much. Come on, let's dance. Not like any quarry I've ever met. You know, I'll learn things from them. Maybe they can learn a few things from me. I hope they're ready for you. Ready or not, here I come. Don't look now, but we have an audience. What are they doing here? Do we have to hold her like that before she goes to sleep? I haven't had to do that in a long time. This phone call from Sam has really shaken her up. It's too young to even talk about it. I mean, it breaks my heart. Do you think he has any idea how it affected her? If he thought about her for more than two minutes, yeah, he would. Sam used to talk to her on the phone all the time. He would call her and tell her that he was coming. Well, that's nice. Oh, yeah. It's just cruel, I mean, to get her hopes up like that and have her thinking that he's going to come and see her. Well, do you really think that he said that to her? I don't know. That's what it seems like. He doesn't talk to me. Well, did he leave a number in case of an emergency or something? No, nothing. It's been totally irresponsible. Oh, that surprises you, huh? I mean, after all you've been through with this guy? Let's not have another discussion about Sam, okay? Okay, let's not. But I'll tell you what, if I had what he had, I definitely would never walk out no matter how rough it got. Well, you don't have a temper like Sam does. It wasn't just his temper. It was his whole attitude. He was jealous, suspicious, insecure. You're right. You're right. I mean, you're special and your ambition never threatened me, for sure. Well, that's a part of me that I didn't know very much whenever I got married. Well, you know that now and that's all that matters. That's why you and I are a lot alike. That's why I know exactly what you need right now. Yeah? Well, I think we should go out. You'll bring your grandmother here to take care of Hallie and we can... That's true. They could do that. Right? And I will take you anywhere that you would like to go. I really just want to be alone with you. Well, I wasn't planning a double date. No. No, I mean alone. Alone. Your place? Sounds perfect. Just like you. There you go. Thanks. She's your sister. You should know. The way you describe her, I've never met that side of her. Well, Vicki likes to put her worst foot forward. Someone we know says that she dares people to love her. Why does she want to be so tough? It wasn't her choice exactly. Oh, she didn't grow up here with me. Why not? We were separated when we were born. Sounds like a plot from Shakespeare. This was no comedy. Vicki grew up in a town called Lasseter. She mentioned something about that. She called it a pit. A pit? Well, she spent most of her life there trying to get out or just survive, and it made her kind of single-minded. Some people call that selfish. Some people do. Vicki just spent most of her time on her own. She didn't think much about how what she did affected other people. Impulsive, right? Extremely stubborn and aggressive, blunt. It's funny, when you use those words to describe her, they really don't sound that negative. Maybe there are times I wish I could be more like her. She could stand to be a little more like you, too. Thank you. But Vicki is pretty much her own person. And sometimes some of the things she does seem to make sense only to her. I end up hurting her the most. Yeah, I know the feeling. Well, it sounds like you two have something in common. Yeah, we're both the black sheep of the family. Oh. Yeah, well, I really got to get going. Well, don't fear. You have to. No, you've been great, but I really don't think I can hang around here all night. Okay. So, could you tell her I stopped by? Oh, of course I will. And try not to make me sound too much like a maniac. Okay, I won't. Good night. Good night. Ew. Good night. What are you doing home? Did Jake dump you again? He had an emergency at the studio. Oh. Seems to be having a lot of those lately. Where have you been? Out. Good night. Oh, Vicki, friend. Why are you wearing that? I'm not wearing anything. I'm just trying to get some rest. I'm sorry. Why are you wearing that? I thought you hated that outfit. You always told me I looked like an ex-none. Oh, well, hope you don't mind. It looked, uh... You never borrow my clothes. And you never wear your hair like that, either. Didn't have time for anything else. You were trying to look like me, weren't you? Why would you do that? What have we here? Do you need any help? No, I can help it. Fine. I'm not going to interfere. Ooh la la. This is what you had in mind? Ooh. Hmm. I used to dream about nights like this. Yeah? Then I just pushed them out of my mind because they were impossible at the time. How do you feel about them right now? Just right. I'm glad we don't have to hide. Well, I knew there would come a time we could be together. Spend nights together. Time wouldn't be so crazy. It was crazy, wasn't it? Yeah. I mean, I never knew when I was going to see you, who was going to walk in on us. It was nuts. The only thing that I remember is the guilt that I felt. I must have always been looking over my shoulder. Yeah, I remember. The worst part? The worst part was thinking that I was doing something so terrible to Sam. That was the worst part. What's behind us now? I hope so. You know, I can finally feel how right things could be for us. There's nothing in our way now. There's no guilt. There's no lies. There's nobody to hurt. Well, I never expected to see them here. You aren't the only one. We probably should go say hello. All right. Let's do it. Mm-hmm. Hi. Hi, Paulino. You know, for a minute there, I wasn't sure if it was you guys. I mean, this doesn't really seem like your kind of place. Sassies was my idea. I'm trying to give Rachel a new perspective. Okay. Excuse us. Have fun. What's the matter? She didn't even ask what you were doing here together. Well, Rachel wasn't always from Blue Blood either. I thought you'd be shocked. I'm not. I keep forgetting that. Don't. Don't ever forget where you came from. You're getting serious on me again. I'm trying to have a good time here. You still can with them here? Sure. You don't want to leave? No way. Things are just getting interesting. How about we toss some darts? I'll go easy on you. Dollar game. You really think you're gonna win this, don't you? I'm sure gonna try like y'all. What is he doing? What? Who? Jake. He's talking on the phone. I wish you said about Evan and Amanda how you were worried that Evan was gonna hurt Amanda. How do you feel about Paulina with Jake? Are you gonna break, or are we gonna sit here and talk about this? Break. You've been to see Jamie, haven't you? I'm sure I'll tell y'all about it. Don't you walk out of this room! You dress up like me, you pretend to be me, I want an explanation! You're smart. You figure it out. You're not even ashamed of yourself, are you? I do what I have to do. It's not always pretty, but it works. You pretended to be me, now what exactly did you do? Don't worry. Nothing happened. Jamie and I just talked. That sound familiar? Couldn't leave things alone, could you? I had to find out what happened. What you were hiding. About what? You certainly weren't gonna tell me. What about Franz, for one? Would you stop harping on Franz? I was harping! Jamie's the one who remembers all the wonderful, sappy memories. You're so bitter about this. It is not my fault that Jamie didn't take you with him. And it is not my fault that you were making hay while the moon shines. I did not! Translating for him? I was trying to be friendly, but not too friendly. Showing him your perfect self. Morley love. Everybody's dream goddess. Will you stop it? I wish I could. It makes me sick just to think about it. There's nothing Jamie loves more than a challenge. You provided that for him, didn't you? Huh? How far did you go? A couple passionate kisses? In that sweet little country inn? Handholding under the moonlight? This is what you think about. You just went to end it, didn't you? When he wanted to take you to bed with him. Why do you twist everything around? I am not trying to take Jamie away from you. Just like you didn't try to take Jake away from me. Why don't you find your own men? I still don't see how you do it. How you drive people away. At least you're there to always pick up the pieces. It's you, Vicki. You push people away. You do it to yourself. It's not me. I thought I could trust you. This is how you demonstrate your trust. You don't trust anyone, Vicki. That's your problem. Not even the people who love you the most. Oh, God, like who? Like you and Jamie? Give me a break. You should both be grateful to me for what I've done. This ought to be good. Oh, it is. Jamie may like to think that he's fallen for the good sister and ditched the evil twin. But it's all the same to him. You put us in the same dress and he can't even tell the difference. How does that make you feel, honey? He couldn't even tell us apart. You two may like to think that you've got some secret romance going. But Jamie didn't fall for you. He just fell for a different version of me. I need to see Marley. We interrupt this program for an NBC News special report. Here is Tom Brokaw. Good afternoon, everyone. Several developments today as President Saddam Hussein of Iraq plainly is playing for time now. We've just had an announcement from the Iraqi news agency that Saddam Hussein has said that all women and children who are, in his words, guests of that country, hostages in the words of all the other political leaders of the Western nations, that the women and children are now free to leave. This after Saddam Hussein had a meeting on Iraqi television earlier today with several Western families, mostly women and children, in which he delivered a monologue saying that they were there in the interest of peace, that if there is war, many children, including the pretty ones like these, would die. He also said that he is now willing to debate. Prime Minister Thatcher and President George Bush on television about the Persian Gulf crisis, he called the president, that is President Bush, an inhuman man. Well, Saddam Hussein was appearing on Iraqi television and in this country as well. President Bush was returning from Kennebunkport, Maine to Washington, D.C., to the White House where he will be briefing congressional leaders momentarily. We do expect to see the president and those congressional leaders in the White House cabinet room. Some members of Congress, both Republican and Democrat now, are beginning to publicly ask the question, what is our end game in the Middle East? What are our goals there? After all, we have now put in place military machinery that is no longer just defensive in nature for the defense of Saudi Arabia, but it is an offensive military machine as well. This today, especially with the arrival of the first of a wave of M1 tanks, that would be the heavy armor that would be necessary in any protracted war with Iraq in that desert landscape there. Iraq now has some 500 tanks. We don't think all of them are in Kuwait, but they do have more than 170,000 people in that occupied country, which today, Saddam Hussein said, is no longer a country, but it is now the 19th province, in his words, of the country of Iraq. So President Bush now is about to meet with the congressional leaders and we'll see them in a photo opportunity at the White House this after the president has returned now from Kennebunkport, Maine. There is the familiar cabinet room, and just to his right, to your left, is Speaker Tom Foley. Congress has been in recess, and that's George Mitchell, the Democratic leader of the Senate, on his left, who is from Maine, as a matter of fact, two Democrats flanking the president. And not all the congressional leaders will be there. Sam Nunn, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, is in Egypt today, meeting with Egyptian President Mubarak. The president apparently will not take any questions. That sometimes is his inclination in these situations. John Cochran standing by now. What has been the reaction of the White House, if any, to this sudden and unexpected and very recent development that Saddam Hussein says that now women and children may leave Iraq? Tom, I'm not sure the president actually knows about that report. Of course, it occurred only in the last 20 minutes or so. The president has been meeting with congressional leaders, as you've just reported. I'm not sure his national security advisors have told him about this, or if they did, they probably told him just a few minutes ago. He may refer to that in his remarks, which will be broadcasting shortly, Tom. I'm sure it's good news in one sense, but publicly I would think that the White House and State Department reaction would be, well, why not let everybody leave, not just the women and children? And furthermore, you haven't kept your promises in the past, so why should we think now you're going to release the women and the children? John, let me read you from the Iraqi news agency as this comes across our wires here. After President Saddam Hussein met with foreign families and was acquainted with their condition and having been deeply affected by the desire expressed by some of the women to have freedom, he...
