George Bush today defended the military record of his running mate Dan Quayle, telling a
veterans convention that by joining the National Guard during the Vietnam War, Quayle performed
his duty honorably.
Quayle was addressing that group tonight.
And researchers reported today they've demonstrated a direct link between the risk of colon cancer
and a person's intake of calories.
They say the risk of cancer is reduced when people eat a lot of carrots, green peppers,
tomatoes and onions.
