Tonight on Access Hollywood. Indiana Jones. Four, we get the official word from Spielberg. Harrison Ford is 62 now. Is he ready for that? Men in Black 2, the blockbuster to beat this weekend and the making of its music video. Black suit, the black shade, the black shoes. Matthew McConaughey bops up for his new role, but just what did it take to create his co-star and who reigns as Action's king will tell you why Brain may be beating out Braun. And what supermodel is being beckoned to go into space? Plus we're making waves with Steve and his queen. Access Hollywood starts right now. Right. Camera. Access. The Raider has found his arc. Hi everybody, welcome to Access Hollywood. I'm Sean Robinson in for Nancy O'Dell. Hello Sean, hi folks. I'm Pat O'Brien and Indiana Jones four is a go. With the writer in place, Harrison Ford signed on. Billy Bush found out it's just a matter of time before director Steven Spielberg says action. Indiana Jones four. Why are you doing this sequel? Well it was Harrison's idea. He was really gung ho to do a fourth movie and he wanted to get the hat and the whip and the jacket back on. It's official after a break of more than 13 years, Indiana Jones will be cracking his whip on another thrilling adventure. Harrison Ford is 62 now. Is he ready for that? Is he going to do his own stunts as well? You know Harrison Ford is 62 but he fights like a 47 drill. Ford who first donned the famous fedora when he was just 38, plans to start shooting the sequel early spring 2004. And the man currently whipping the script into shape, Oscar nominated Green Mile director Frank Darabont. This will be a slightly later era, you know, because Indiana Jones is somewhat older now. Darabont who worked as a writer on the TV series, the young Indiana Jones Chronicles revealed his vision for the film. Some of the greatest, you know, action adventure sequences that you can imagine. Reportedly George Lucas who created the indie character had courted the Sixth Sense writer director M. Night Shyamalan. But seems Darabont clinched the prize assignment after impressing Steven Spielberg with some uncredited script work he did on Minority Report. Lucas who sketched part four story outline told us he's eager to see the final draft. We can finish the script and everybody still is happy with it and I'm happy. Now that we have you thinking about it, you got a little time to wait. Spielberg is looking to release the film three years from now, July 4th 2005, Sean. Well Pat, Spielberg may have his sights set on Indiana Jones but right now he's watching Will Smith burn up the July 4th box office. You see Steven is executive producer of Men in Black 2 and once again Will is pulling double duty as star and musician. You've seen the video, now we show you just how Will made the music. After days of dance rehearsals, vocal practice and stage blocking. Will Smith was more than ready to strut his stuff in his new video, Black Suites Coming. The concept. The first intergalactic concert that is transmitted everywhere in the universe. Every man, woman and cephalopod will be watching this concert. With the help of astronauts Dr. Guy Bluford and Dr. Bernard Harris as well as his kids, Will shot the video over four days at Universal Studios in LA back in April. The song is the theme to Will's current movie Men in Black 2 as well as the first single off his new album Born to Rain which came out June 25th. It's also a bit of a departure for Will. I wanted to try something that was drastic and very different. It's full orchestra, full live with the rock guitar so it's very different musically from anything that I've ever done. So just how important is this weekend to Will Smith? Well 4th of July movie openings are saved for the big event films and Dick Willie holds the record for the top two July 4th openings. The first for 1997's Men in Black which opened with 51 million and the second goes to his 1996 blockbuster Independence Day. It opened with 50 million. We'll have final numbers on Men in Black 2 for you on Monday. Pat. Will's not the only one pulling double duty. Today's show weatherman Al Roker is going from forecaster to food expert. It's grilling season so we're very excited. Yeah. Throw another shrimp on the barbie. Today's show weatherman Hal Roker has got the secret to great grilling in his new book Al Roker's Big Bad Book of Barbecue. Al is so passionate about cooking and it is such a treat for me. Al's ribs are known worldwide and he will come from far for Al's ribs. He's quite adept with that large, what is it called? Spatula and tongue. Al's not so culinary inclined family, friends and Today's Show pals, past and present, gathered for a party celebrating the book. He does a smoked butt really well. Why does that grab a laugh? I just like seeing you like smoking butts. Old pals Brian Gumbel and Al Roker were full of jokes but don't look for semi-retired Brian to make a return to his old Today's stomping grounds. Well, you know what? Okay, thank you very much. He doesn't want to get up early anymore. Just as he's rolling over we're going into the third hour. What you have been seeing on Today is a whole lot less of Al. He recently lost a lot of pounds. In the end it all comes down to eating a lot less and exercising a lot more. You can bet he still barbecues Al Roker's big bad book of barbecue in stores today. Up next, Behind Closed Doors with Tom and Penelope and the beautiful mind you didn't see. Plus, on location with McConaughey in one of the most ambitious productions this summer and where you'll find real women living sex in the city. It's all moments away. There he is, Vin Diesel in the high-octane action film, The Fast and the Furious. When the movie hit DVD shelves, it raced out, selling more than two million copies in its first day. Today, we're making a list and checking it twice for your mid-year DVD report. What's a must for your library and what's worth renting? The envelope, please. Tom Cruise and director Cameron Crowe also take the number two spot with a special edition of Jerry Maguire. Show me the money. Show me the money. Show me the money. It includes a video commentary where Cruise and Crowe can be seen watching the movie with Renee Zellweger and Cuba Goody Jr. The four of us had a great time making that picture and sitting down, looking at it, and reminiscing. I'd been offered, asked to do that before and I have done. I really enjoyed it. Number three is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. You're a wizard, Harry. The wizard conjured up a record-breaking $19.1 million at rentals in its first week out. No question the DVD is as essential to Harry Potter fans as the books are. What's wrong with you? A Beautiful Mind won the Oscar for Best Picture and the two-disc awards edition DVD wins a spot on our list for its in-depth look at the making of the film and a meeting with the real John Nash. Number five. My name is Letitia Musgrove. It's Halle Berry's Oscar-winning performance in Monster's Ball. It's gonna be in a special moment. The good news is, Steve Martin was seen by a few pictures of himself on shows with the brothers. And the foundation role, is the key figure following on their stance, Donaldjego Bru afterlife. So you know where he's going to end up, but the question is, why? Martin explains to me that in his new movie, Bringing Down the House, his character looks for love on the internet and gets a big surprise when he finally meets her face to face. I think I'm setting up a date with a waspy blonde and Queen Latifah shows up. It's what the World Wide Web is all about. No matter where you are, you can reach out and touch someone. But what Martin's character doesn't know is that he has reached out and touched someone who happens to be in jail. When Latifah breaks out, she comes looking for him. Sounds like a fun role, right? No, I'm not having fun at all. This is the most boring movie I ever did. No, this has been a blast. It really has. Your house has been taken over by Queen Latifah's culture, right? Yes, Queen Latifah's come into my life and has invited all her friends. Which explains why Martin looks so out of place in his own backyard. It seems Latifah has upended his life, but in this scene it was Martin who made all the waves. Still ahead here, it was once Arnold, Sly and Tom. Well, now we unveil the new breed of action heroes that are dominating this summer's box office. Plus, next week McConaughey unveils his action abs. Tonight we unveil his monster co-star. Stay right here. With JLo's sex appeal and pop star Zeal, Paulina Rubio is a Latin superstar whose Spanish albums have sold millions. And now following her standout performance at the Alma Awards. The exotic beauty is about to conquer America with her first English album, Border Girl. I'm anxious. We all are, we're desperate to start and to release the album. The daughter of a Mexican film star, Paulina was born in Mexico in 1972. She began singing so young, she can't even remember when. I know it since I was born. Since I started talking, I started singing actually. By the age of 10, she was in a successful Latin teen group, striking out on her own as a solo act a decade later. Energizing audiences with her sexy moves and danceable pop. Now one of the biggest stars in Latin pop, Paulina wants to reach a wider audience, which led her to finally record in English. And while she may reach JLo heights on the music charts, don't expect her to follow Lopez onto the big screen anytime soon. For me, it's better to express what I feel and to dress as I want it to be, you know, instead of like being a character. I don't like that too much. Love comedy. Comedy. Everybody loves a good laugh. Comedy movies here are the best. We got Hollywood's great movies at Walmart's low price. Yeah baby, yeah. We have a lot of good ones here. Hello. Dumb and Dumber. Friday. The Wedding Scene. Aceman 2. Pets Detective. Austin Powers. It's a baby. Yeah, that was messed up. I like the wash shower. Daddy sack. Yes or no? We have great movies on video and DVD. And all of our movies are at everyday low prices. For great movies, Walmart's the ticket. Right on 17 News at 11. From the baseline to the bottom line. Seventeen's Project Power with Jim Scott. Weeknights on 17 News. One week from today, a bald headed Matthew McConaughey and a buffed up Christian Bale are storming theaters. The place, a futuristic London. The scene, a flying fire breathing dragon. The dragon slaying tale of rain and fire. We'll have you asking how they do that. Well this is how. A buffed, bald and tattooed Matthew McConaughey and a scruffy bearded Christian Bale are the star dragon slayers. Shot on location in Prague, which doubles for London, these two men have the sizable task of taking down this beast. There's nothing magical about it. They made of flesh and blood. You take out their heart, you bring down the beast. So just how was this scaly savage made? Very carefully. After a close study of real animals like lions, bats and snakes, Touchstone's creative team thought up this sloth on steroids. Nine months of just prep work went into creating this colossal creature. The first painstaking process was all done on advanced computers, dot for dot, frame by frame, sculpting everything from the toenails to the muscles. Then the most important part, the ferocious fire. It's real. Bulldozers with nozzles and fire hoses attached spit the fire. Then the bulldozer was digitally taken out and the dragon's nostrils were added. And wham, fire breathing dragon. Let's see that again. Bulldozer to blaze belcher. So how do you fight a 10 ton make believe Goliath with no green screens? Survey teams were sent to the actual locations where the actors shot scenes. There they marked areas of Matthew's point of view. The result on screen, the dragon is flying exactly where he is looking. Watch out, this is the new magic dragon. I'm in now. McConaughey and Bale are just a few of the new faces bearing the title action hero. The new breed of action heroes kicked off back in May with Toby McGuire and Spider-Man, then Ben Affleck and some of all fears, followed by best friend Matt Damon and the born identity. While Will Smith is back in black making his action return tonight. We look at those young guns that launched the summer of hot young action. Brain over brawn, gone are the burly buffed out action heroes of the past and to the young smart debonair. After that, they kick some serious butt. Ben, Ben and Matt are the newest breed of Hollywood action heroes to hit the big screen this summer. Movie goers ages 12 to 24 make up nearly 40% of all audiences. Thus the studio strategy, bringing a younger, more vulnerable action star that audiences can relate to. It's Ryan, the bomb is in play. As if there wasn't enough pressure being branded as one of Hollywood's newest heroes, 29 year old Affleck will go from spy to superhero and don the body suit in the comic book adaptation of Daredevil. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who made action stars out of Tom Cruise, Will Smith and Nicolas Cage tells us Ben has what it takes to catapult him into action hero status. He's a terrific actor. Whether he wants to continue doing big action movies is up to him. He can do anything. He's that kind of an actor. Just two weeks after Ben's best bud, Matt Damon made his action debut in the born identity. Certainly neither Ben nor I ever saw it as part of a group design for all young, you know, all this movement of young actors. And the man who directed MI2, Face Off and Windtalkers, action director John Woo is taking notice. I would like to work with Matt Damon. Tell him to call me. Those calls are sure to be fast and furious. In fact, the star of the upcoming triple X, Ben Diesel, pocketed a reported $10 million and even before its release, a sequel is already in the works, which could double Diesel's payday to 20 million. There's a whole new generation of action stars and you're one of them. How does it feel to put up like that? Because that's something that's high up there. I think there's a whole new generation of actors or entertainers in general. Does it make me feel, it makes me feel great. It makes me feel wonderful to know that I have opportunities to do great films like Triple X. While we're at it, watch out for Colin Farrell. Steven Spielberg tells us he has the stuff stars are made of. And with his breakout performance in Minority Report, having already worked opposite Bruce Willis in Hearts War and soon to be seen as a CIA agent opposite Al Pacino, Colin has our vote to be another breakout action star. Coming up, Janet Jackson unzipped as our best of moments wrap up. But first, our quote of the day. This week's issue of Newsweek, actress Angela Bassett talks about why she turned down the lead role in Monster's Ball that won Halle Berry an Oscar. She felt the part was typical of how Hollywood views women in general and black women in particular saying, and this is a quote, I wasn't going to be a prostitute on film. I couldn't do that because it's such a stereotype about black women and sexuality. Between blackouts and rate hikes, are we in the clear yet?
