We sometimes forget how we affect so many things around us.

The people at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida are calling their latest crop of newborns a baby boom.
There were nearly 1,000 births at SeaWorld last year, including a 350 pound whale of a baby named Shamu.
One of just a few killer whales born and surviving in man's care.
At a press briefing in New York City today, the curator at SeaWorld said,
each birth increases man's knowledge of life and the sea.
We're understanding more about the life histories or what makes a killer whale a killer whale, for example.
We're understanding that more and more all the time.
We're finding out more about the social organization of the animals, their groups and their family units.
Watching the miracle of birth in the clear water of an aquarium, one is reminded of the oil spill disaster in Alaska,
where a blanket of black death is snuffing out the life of uncounted numbers of fish, animals and birds.
Oh, my now.
The logistics of this magnitude of this is really overwhelming.
Experts say only a fraction of the wildlife hit by the crude is being rescued, cleaned and fed.
Officials expect 40 percent of the 10,000 otters living in Prince William Sound will die.
Five otters were taken to SeaWorld in San Diego, where they are undergoing rehabilitation.
Oil and otters don't mix.
They look like they've pretty well been de-oiled on the outside and seem to have weathered the trip quite well.
The problem may be oil on the inside or the toxic effects caused by oil, by hypothermia and by lack of nutrition.
Experts fear it will be years before the wildlife in Alaska's Prince William Sound rebounds from this country's worst oil spill,
and scenes like this can be played out as nature intended.
I'm Frank Casey reporting.
And finally tonight, under the heading that it's all in the nose of the beholder, this little item from middle America,
a 50-year-old Illinois woman who will only reveal her first name, Marilyn,
says she's always been partial to the smell of a good skunk spray.
Yes, the same odor that keeps the skunk safe and distant from potential predators gives Marilyn a warm feeling in her heart.
She's always wondered if she were alone in her love and appreciation of the delicate bouquet of skunk.
So she ran an ad in USA Today, the newspaper.
To date, she's received over 70 positive replies, all from people who share her unusual taste.
One man wrote that he can think of nothing to rival the feel of a warm summer breeze,
the taste of a cool drink, the sight of a beautiful garden, the sound of rushing water, and the faint smell of skunk.
