["Championship Skating," theme music plays.] Funding for an evening of Championship Skating is provided by this station and other public television stations nationwide. An evening of Championship Skating, featuring Kitty and Peter Carruthers, Elaine Zajac, Brian Boitano, and Barbara Underhill and Paul Martini. Here is your host for the evening, John Powers. Good evening, and welcome once again to another evening of Championship Skating. Tonight's program is a very special evening, as the eyes of the world once again begin to focus on the sport of figure skating, in anticipation of the Winter Olympic Games to be held in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. The Olympic Games are the goal of every skater, and all of the skaters you'll be seeing tonight are hoping to win berths on their respective Olympic teams and compete for Olympic honors in February. Tonight's performance on behalf of the Jimmy Fund is the final exhibition tune-up for these skaters before they begin the arduous series of competitions which culminates in the Olympic Games. We hope you enjoy tonight's preview of Olympic skating. Last year, in his first appearance in the Jimmy Fund show, he became an immediate favorite of Boston and television audiences with his showmanship and style. After finishing fifth in last year's U.S. Championships, he must be considered a contender for one of the three positions on this year's Olympic team.
