Just you and me, kids. We're quite a pair. Just stick with me, kids. Think of the fun we'll share. We'll have the best time you ever saw two people have together. Gee, kid, that's you and me. Yes, you and me. You and me. Hello, hello. I'm Sonny Melendrez, and welcome to You and Me, Kid. Now, you probably know how to throw a ball. You probably also know how to throw a kiss. But do you know how to throw sounds? Today, we'll be doing that and much, much more. You'll be using your imagination, exploring, learning. Most of all, You and Me, Kid is about parents and kids having fun together. Everything we do needs the two of you at home to make the magic happen. So if you're ready, let's go. Ready? Okay, let's go. And one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Wider. Two, three, four. In. Two, three, four. Run. Two, three, four. Jump. Two, three, four. And up. And back. And up. And back. Big sunburst around. And sunburst around. And up. And higher. And higher. And up. And out. And out. And out. And out. Dive into your pool. Catch your body. Ankle. And knees. And tummy. And sway. And sway. And sway. And sway. And all around. And all around. And twist. And clap. And twist. And clap. And twist. And clap. And spin your partner around. Just You and Me, Kid. We're quite a pair. Mommy around. You do? You spin your mommy around? So you spun her right around there, didn't you? How about you, AT? Did you spin around too? This is the most fun. And the reason we do this is to get you all warmed up and ready. Because this is what we call Let's Go. We like to just get going. And actually, I think it'd be a good idea if we got down like this. Now tell me what animal I am, okay? This animal comes from a country known as Australia. Kids at home might already know what that is. And it looks like this. And it does this. Kangaroos. Exactly. Let's pretend we're all mommy kangaroos, okay? And we have little pouches, right? This is where we hold the baby kangaroo. And we hop. Okay, let's go. Let's make those sound. I'm not hearing you, Tony. How does that go? How does that go? AT, can you hop over here for a second? Come over here. Amy, let me hear you. How are you doing? Great. AT, how are you doing? Very good. Now, since we have some little kangaroos and some big kangaroos, what would happen if you took your pouch and put your kangaroo inside it? And you put yours inside you, and you with your partner, where are you? There you are. Oh, here you are. Would you stop moving around? Now would you just get up and hold on to your little partner. That's right. Come on, get up there. Hold on. Now you're going to have to hop to get there, okay? This is going to be a little tough, but I think you can do it. All right, ready? And... Oh, look at this one here. This guy's got it easy. Well, what do you mean cheat? Let me try that. I'm sure you can do it. Okay, come on, let's try one more time. Maybe we should make it the other way around. Okay, time out for a big kangaroo hug. Kelly and Ann, I have an exercise that's a lot of fun. In fact, it stretches your legs and tickles your hands. Yeah, but it takes two of you to do it. You ready to do it? All right, and if you'd like to do it at home, too, kids, what you do is you get on your knees with your partner. In fact, let's sit on our legs back like that. That's kind of fun to sit like that when you're playing marbles or whatever you're doing, playing with your dolls. So let's just sit back like that. Now, we're going to try and touch our heads to the floor. All right, can we try that? Just kind of just touch all the way. Oh, that's very good, Kelly. Did you do that at home? Great. Now, come back up now. All right, now let's get up on our knees. All right, now let's try... Oh, still stay on your knees. Yeah, you have funny looking knees there. They have tennis shoes on your knees. Now we're going to do it again all the way down to the floor. Let's go down and touch and back. OK, now let's make it more fun. Kelly, you face your partner and you at home, you face your partner. Now, give yourself enough room there. Move back a little bit so that you'll have enough room. All right, now go ahead and get on your knees still. Sit back on your knees the way I told you before. We're going to go down on our heads and then up and clap. OK, you clap with your partner's hands. OK, down and up and clap. Great. Let's do it again. Down and up and clap. And down and up and clap. Now get up on your knees all the way up. All right, try it again. Here we go. Down and up and clap. Two more times. Down and up and clap. And down and up and clap. Wait a minute. I know something. This will really be fun. All right. All the way. OK. Ready? Now, I'm going to tell you what to tell your mom and boys and girls at Hall and Wheeler Centers, too. I want you to tell your moms and dads that they're going to stand up and then go down as far as they can and touch the floor with their heads and then they're going to clap. Did you tell your mom that? Stand up and twist your head all the way down as you can and then clap. OK. And clap with your partner. OK, here we go. Let's try it. All the way down. You can bend your knees. It's OK to bend your knees like that. All the way down and then all the way up and clap with your partner. Let's try that one more time. All the way down and all the way back up and clap with your partner. Now, let's try it on our tippy toes. OK, here we go. All the way down and all the way up and clap with your partner. And you did so well, you deserve a giant hug from your big partner. And now it's time. Oh, excuse me. Hello. Yes. Yes. A story? You need a grown up and a kid. Well, they're watching right now, yes. Uh, what? To be in the story? Can you be in the story? What are they going to do? They're going to play a part in the story? You'll do it? Yes, they'll do it. When are they going to do this? Right now? What are the parts? Oh, I see. OK, I'll tell them. Thanks a lot. All right. Thank you. Bye bye. You're going to play a part in the story, both of you. What? Well, I'll tell you in a second because right now it's time to enter the magical, mystical world of you and me theater. Once upon a time by a lovely lake lived three birds, a duck with a beautiful green feathered throat, a bright pink flamingo with graceful long legs, and a tall long neck ostrich. Oh, and there were also two little ugly ducklings that lived there. You're going to be the two ugly ducklings. But don't worry. Something special and wonderful happens to you later in the story. Now, to be little ugly ducklings you have to crouch down like this. Come on. Crouch down like that. And then you waddle back and forth. Quack, quack, quack, quack. Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack. Waddle, waddle, waddle. Can you do that? All right. It's time now for our story. Quack, quack. Quack, quack. Good morning, ostrich. Good morning, flamingo. Beautiful day, isn't it? Oh, well, it would be if it were for those ugly ducklings. Oh, I don't know why they hang around us, beautiful birds. Oh, they're ruining the neighborhood. Yeah, why, just looking at them makes me want to just bury my head in the sand. Quack, quack. You're right, they're not special like we are. Quack. Let's not look at them. Quack. The two ugly ducklings were sad. They put on their sad faces. Can you do that? And then they waddled away. Oh, you again. Oh, go away. You're too plain to play with. You're not beautiful like me. Shoo, shoo. Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack. Yeah, you don't have a wonderful green throat like I do. Quack, quack. Besides, I can swim better than you. Quack, quack, quack. Yes, and you're not big and magnificent like I am. And you don't have my special talent. What? And so the two little ugly ducklings put on their sad faces again and waddled away. The ugly ducklings didn't see the other birds for several days, but something special was happening to the little ugly ducklings. They sat like this. Can you sit like this? And they turned all white and feathery. And their necks grew long and graceful. Move your neck long and graceful like this. Now watch what happens. Why is that? Oh, what happened to you? Why, you're all white and feathery. Oh, and you're graceful and you're beautiful. I'm so embarrassed by all those horrible things I said to you before. Quack, quack. Yeah, you'll become swans. That's what you are. That's what they were all along, swans. Quack, quack, quack. And so the little ugly ducklings, who were really baby swans, grew up to be very special and very beautiful and lived very happily by the lake. And sometimes being special may just take a little while. I have another story for you right now. This one is about a frog who went a-courten. You know what a-courten means, Amy? A-courten is what happens when somebody, like, wants to marry somebody. And they court them. And this frog wanted to marry this mouse. So this was a song they used to sing to this little mouse. It's kind of funny, a frog and a mouse getting married. But this is a fun story and a fun song. If you don't know the words to the song, all you have to do is go, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Can you do that? Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Great. And we're going to put some motions to go along with our music and have some musical motions. Ready? Okay. This is the way the song goes. A frog he would a-courten go, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. A frog he would a-courten go, he dressed himself from head to toe, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Oh, Miss Mouse, will you marry me, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Oh, Miss Mouse, will you marry me, yes, that would be fine with me, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Where shall the wedding supper be, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Where shall the wedding supper be, way down yonder in the hollow tree, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Now, the next verse is, what do you think they had for supper, and what they had was black-eye peas, corn, bone, and butter. You ready to sing that? Sounds kind of funny, but let's try it. Okay. And what do you think they had for supper, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. And what do you think they had for supper, black-eye peas, corn, bone, and butter, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. The frog and mouse were husband and wife, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. The frog and mouse were husband and wife, and together they had a happy life, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Boy, you did real good. I tell you, that was sung so nicely. I think I'd like to do the last part one more time, but let's do it real slow. Okay, the frog and mouse were husband and wife, and together they led a happy life. We can hold hands too, okay. The frog and mouse were husband and wife, and together they led a happy life, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. How about if you use that hum and make it into a kiss? Can you hum and kiss at the same time? Would you like some punch? This is some magic punch. As a matter of fact, you might want to have a drink at home. Here, I want you to take this. This is energy punch. You take this or you have a lot of energy. I've never seen anybody drink quite like that. That's great. Would you like to have a little bit left for you, Tony? Go ahead and have some. There, just drink. Boy, you're just like a bird. You drink it and then you just swallow it, okay? Would you like some too at home? Where are you? There you are. Have some right now, okay? Great. Okay, we're all ready. You feel that energy? Got that energy going? All right, good, because we're going to play a little game called Mind Your Own Business. Now, you know how this works? First of all, I give you something that I have in my pocket. This is a rope. Will you take this rope here? I'm glad you did. Now, I'll tell you what I'd like you to do. Tie it to that post right there. This post right here, just tie it on there right there. Real good, yeah? Tie it on and bring me the other end, okay? Now, would you stand right here? I need somebody to hold this end right here. Would you hold that? Now, I'm going to stand right here, Tony. This is what I want you to do. You stand back for just a second. You turn the rope, I'm going to jump rope, okay? Turn it real slow first. One, two, three. Real big, real big. Four, five, faster, faster, faster, faster. See there? This is kind of like getting in training. You like that, Tony? All right, stop. Slow. Okay, now I want to give you a rope at home. I want you to tie it to maybe the coffee table or maybe to some leg on a piece of furniture or something. All right, you got this? Here you go. Okay, you got that rope there? All right, tie one end of it on there. You hold the other end, kids. Have your parents jump rope now. All right, Tony, it's your turn. Start out slow, okay? We'll start out slow with our parents, and then we'll get a little faster, and faster, and faster, and faster, faster, and faster. Now really give it to them. Really give it to them. Oh, look at this guy, huh? Oh, he's doing great at home, too. Oh, boy, look at him. Okay, let's give him a rest now, and slow down. What do you think, Tony? What's good for the goose is good for H.C.? Yes. Or the other way around, whatever that... There it goes. Okay, ready? Kids at home, you switch. Slow. Great. Great. Great. Maybe you should be telling them something. Just kind of get them into training. Look at this. That's great. I got an idea. Let's do this. Let me have this rope here. Would you untie it from the post there, H.C.? This is a long enough rope here. I'm gonna try something. We may not be able to do this, but kids at home, catch the end of this rope. Okay, now hold on to it there. All right, ready? Because we're gonna turn the rope for you, and you're gonna jump. Okay, Tony, would you hold this right here? H.C., you hold it with him, Tony. You get over here, and when I say turn, you start turning, and kids at home, you get in there and jump. Ready? Go. And one, and two, and faster, and faster, and faster, and faster. Okay, don't hurt yourself. Slow down. That's great. And give your partner a great big hug for being such a good one. Olympic gymnast Kathy Rigby won eight gold medals in international competitions. And now she brings her determination and her talents to other pursuits, such as a sports commentator, an actress, and also as the mother of three-year-old Ryan. Let's watch this pair, who is famous and a ham. You know what? Have you ever seen a duck? Where did you see a duck? In the pond? Remember when we were in Sacramento and you saw a duck? I know about some ducks. You know any songs about ducks? Yes, ducks. Ducks, ducks, ducks. Ducks, ducks, ducks. Is that your own song? Oh, that's a nice song. You want to sing my song? Five little ducks that I once knew. That one skinny one, there were two. But the one little duck with the feather on his back, he ruled the roost with a quack, quack, quack. Four little ducks that I once knew. That one skinny one, there were two. But the one little duck with the feather on his back, he ruled the roost with a quack, quack, quack. How do we on that? Three? Three little ducks that I once knew. That one skinny one, there were two. But the one little duck What did he have? The feather on his back. He ruled the roost with a quack, quack, quack. Now we're on two. We can only do two. We can't do one. Two little ducks that I once knew. That one skinny one, there were two. But the one little duck with the feather on his back, he ruled the roost with a quack, quack, quack. What kind of a duck makes that sound? Okay, we'll do dogs instead. Ready? Three little dogs that I once knew. That one skinny one, there were two. And the one little dog with the tail on his back, he ruled the roost with a quack, quack, quack. That's it? That was a good one. Okay, now we're going to do... How can I get in the house? You want to get in the house? Okay. You can sing from inside your house. Turn around and we're going to sing. So that's not my house? Yeah, come here. This is my house. Okay, ready? Okay, and I'll knock on the door. And after I knock on the door, you put your hands up like this and we'll do the play, okay? Ready? Oh! Play with me. Come out and play with me. And bring your dollies free. Climb up my apple tree. Fly down my rainbow. Climb up my apple door. And we'll be jolly friends forever more. Shut the door and turn off the light and say good night. That was good. Do it faster, okay? Fly down my rainbow. Climb up my cellar door. And we'll be jolly friends forever more, more. Shut the door and turn off the light and say good night. Thank you, Kathy and Ryan. That was fun. You know, Christopher, if I was like this and my arm didn't bend, but just bump me for a second. Just bump me. See, bump me and my arm moves. Now, if my arm didn't move, here's what would happen. Bump me again. Whoa! You see what would happen? We are able to move our arms and everything because that's the way our body works. We have a lot of things on our bodies that bend. Your head bends right down there and your arms bend down there and your head bends and bumps yourself and your knee bumps and your hand bumps and your head bumps. That's right. And it all bends around, doesn't it? And you've got to be careful sometimes. But I'll tell you what. Let's see if there's anything on your mom that bends. What can you bend on your mom? What bends? Up. Back. Good. And kids at home, why don't you get your partners and see what you can bend on their bodies. Does my arm bend? Good. You can make it stay like that. What did you just bend there, Christopher? Arms? Yeah. Whoa! Bending the head back. Good. What else are you going to bend? How about if you bend her head? Oh, you're going to bend her legs front. Okay. That means you'd have to sit down. Yeah. Great. Perfect. All right. She's all bent all over the place. Now she's going to... Okay. And under. How's that? Great. And one more. Oh, yeah. Look at your mom. She's all bent. Yeah. All bent out of shape, like this and like that. Yeah. How about if she would bend parts on your body? What do you think, Jess? You ready? Yeah. All right. Let's sit down. This. And the other one. Like this. Oh, look at you. Yeah. How about you? Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Don't fall over. Don't fall over now. Hold on. Don't fall over. Whoa! What happened? And what happened to your knees? Did your knees bump, too? Did they fall back? Whoa! Yeah. Yeah, but that's because your knees were able to bend and everything bends on there. That's terrific. What if your mom's arms bent around you? Like that. Yeah. I think you deserve some love for that. And so do you for being such a good partner. I'll tell you what. Okay, thank you very much. It's time to play What if I was getting dressed in the morning and every sound I made when I was getting dressed there was an echo. I threw a sound out and the sound came back. You're gonna be the echo. First thing I do, I wake up and I go Can you do that? Hey! Great. Okay. And grownups, you can do it, too. Okay? So everybody, you be my echo. And then the next thing I do, I brush my teeth. And now I'm gonna gargle with mouthwash. Then I get all dressed up. I'm ready to go outside. I put my jacket on and pull up the zipper. And then I go to my big partner I put my arms around them and say I love you. I love you. You talk just like me. Let's go join the others for the goodbye song. I like this. All of us together and you with your partner all snuggled up. You ready to sing our song? Ready, Christopher? Okay. Hold me in your arms or just take my hand. Look in my eyes and both understand that sharing is love and sharing are we. A smile and a touch say we're so glad to be. We're so glad to be loving together living together singing a song as we go along. Loving together living together we'll find so much we can share loving together We're going to wait for you right here. We'll see you next time. Don't forget to bring your partner. Bye. Just you and me you make me smile whatever will be you make it all worthwhile We got to go it's farewell time tell them all we had a swell time we did just you and me Yes, you and me, yes, you and me, just you and me. And we'll be jolly friends forever more, more. Shut the door and turn off the lights and say goodnight. www.subsedit.com
