You I'm John McEnroe. I'm Ivan Lendl We made the winning edge private lessons with the pros to help you play better tennis In five lessons we teach you how to develop all the basic shots and how to put them together into winning strategies The basic lessons cover ground strokes Wallies and serve The advanced lesson show you how to win serve and break serve whether you play from the baseline like me or serve and volley like Mac We start each lesson by pointing out the key elements to watch for We start each lesson by pointing out the key elements to watch for Then we show you how we play the music by groups including the police the cars and the pretenders Like a lot of other players Mac and I both practice to music Because it gives you rhythm and inspires you to play your best Music is about the only thing that makes practice bearable I have speakers in the trees around my practice court and I seem to play my best matches when one of my favorite practice songs sticks in my mind Most tennis players have had the experience of playing over their heads after watching a great match As a young player I learned by watching champions like Rod Laver play Now with the winning edge you can develop your own natural learning ability in a systematic training program The first thing you should do to begin using the winning edge is to watch it several times to get familiar with the individual lessons After this you should watch the winning edge at least once a week Finally watch one or two lessons just before you go to the court You can also use the winning edge to develop the same kind of sophisticated visualization technique used by Olympic and professional athletes Olympic ski racers for example now visualize perfect runs before starting down the course Sometimes in a match I'll have the same experience I'll suddenly see a shot flash across my mind's eye just before I hit it As you watch the winning edge imagine yourself hitting the same shots you see us hitting or playing the same points Next practice visualizing the same thing without watching the tape You can visualize a perfect stroke a perfect point or even a perfect game Some players get the best results by visualizing just one of the key elements Now use your visualization on the court in a split second before you hit a shot see yourself hitting it perfectly The winning edge is a flexible training tool that's easy and fun to use Now it's up to you to use it to add a winning edge to your game Now let's see how you do it My ground stroke grips are both continental My forehand grip is semi-western my backhand is eastern But all good ground strokes have certain key elements in common On the forehand the first key is shoulder turn and racket preparation Next early contact in front of the body Third a smooth swing and high follow through Again shoulder turn and racket back early contact with the ball Smooth swing and follow through On the backhand shoulder turn contact in front smooth swing and follow through Again turn and racket back hit early in front of your body high follow through and relaxed swing Besides the basic keys on ground strokes the winning edge shows you the footwork to hit running ground strokes After each shot shuffle back toward the center of the court As soon as you read where your opponent's next shot is going turn your shoulders and run to the ball When there is time you should set up your feet and step into the ball But when you have to hit on the run still turn make early contact and follow through To hit with topspin first drop the racket head below the level of the ball Next hit up with the racket face perpendicular at contact Third follow through high and through the ball To hit with slice the racket head is above the ball with the face open Stroke down to the contact The follow through is lower and more circular Your instep saw what you take walking on the moon I hope my leg don't break walking on the moon We could walk forever walking on the moon We could be together walking on the moon Walking back from your house walking on the moon Feet that hardly touch the ground walking on the moon Feet that hardly make no sound walking on walking on the moon Some may say I'm wishing my days away no way I gave it some price I paid some say tomorrow's another day Tuesday I may as well play Your instep saw what you take walking on the moon I hope my leg don't break walking on the moon We could walk forever walking on the moon We could be together walking on walking on the moon Some may say I'm wishing my days away no way I gave it some price I paid some say tomorrow's another day Tuesday I may as well play Keep it up Keep it up Here are the key elements to watch for on volleys On forehand turn to the ball with a short backswing and the racket head up Move forward and punch the ball from your shoulder Make contact early in front of the body Again turn to the ball with the racket head up and short backswing Move forward and punch the ball Early contact point On the backhand turn to the ball with a short high backswing Snap the racket down through the ball The contact is in front of your shoulder Again turn racket head high short backswing Hit down through the ball Contact in front of the body On low volleys step to the ball and bend your knees Keep the contact point in front As you lower your racket to the ball keep your body straight up and down from the waist Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Keep the contact point in front of the body Again, the arms start down together. Extend your tossing arm Drop the racket all the way behind the back Snap your arm up to the contact point The follow through is full and across the body As the arm comes up, shift your weight to the front foot and bend the knees To hit a motion on coils from the legs, the racket and the body launch up into the ball so that you move slightly into the court Again, shift the weight forward and bend your knees And curl upward into the ball and forward into the court A final key to look at is shoulder rotation Start your serve with your shoulders square to the net. This allows you to rotate them all the way through the motion to generate power and spin When I serve, I create additional shoulder rotation by starting almost parallel to the net When I serve, I create additional shoulder rotation by starting almost parallel to the net. This allows you to rotate them all the way through the motion to generate power and spin When I serve, I create additional shoulder rotation by starting almost parallel to the net. This allows you to rotate them all the way through the motion to generate power and spin Shella worked in a factory, she was in history, she's just a number One day, she gets her final day, and she goes far away Oh whoa, whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa Green trees call to me I'm free, but life is so cheap St. Ray, you still have time to live All alone, trapped by its beauty Shella turned to runaway, to leave in peace and enter state Fears and fear were in her way, lost in space and then she came Some suddenly, some subtle entertain Some cosmic energy rushed her like shadows Down here, we stop to wonder Cars on the freeway, bright lights and thunder Woah ooh whoa woah whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa Whoa whoa woah sticky Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa one more moment Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Winning serve shows you how to win your serve playing serve and volley text. And it shows you how to win serve playing from the baseline, hitting ground stroke winners. To play serve and volley, the objective is to create an opening to hit a winning volley. If the return is high, hit the first volley down into the open court for a winner. On a good low return, place the first volley to set up the winner on the second volley. If your opponent is passing well, hit the first volley down the middle to take away his angle. To win serve from the baseline, use your ground strokes to open the court. By hitting cross court, you create the opening to hit winners down the line. By hitting down the line ground strokes, you open up the cross court. In winning serve, you'll see both Yvonne and myself play three perfect service games, showing you these basic combinations and many others. As we play, the score of each game will appear in the upper corner of your screen after every point. Notice perfect, not even a perfect stranger. Oh, what a gal, she was such a perfect stranger. I thought I'd send you the best in your field, in your office with your girls and desk and leather chair. I thought the time was on your side, not time to avenge her. Nobody's permanent, everything's on loan here. Giving your wife and kids could be gone next year. And with what you have left, you'll be forever under pressure to support her. And a lover who looks strangely like time the avenger. Time, time, hear the bells chime. Oldville Harbor and the city. Time for one more bunker and vine. To help paralyze that tiny little tick, tick, tick, tick. To help paralyze that tiny little tick, tick, tick, tick. Oh. Well, it is perfect, not even a perfect gent. When your property took the A train, I wonder where your manners went. You were standing at the station. In your briefcase was your aftershave and underwear. Can you hear the whistle? Oh. Sounds like time the avenger. Time, time, hear the bells chime. Oldville Harbor and the city. Time to kill another bottle of wine. To help paralyze that tiny little tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. Oh. To break serve against a servant volley player, the key is a low solid return of serve. Keeping the ball low forces defensive volleys and gives you time to set up to pass. To break serve against a baseline player, attack on return of serve. Hit approach shots on short ground strokes as well. In breaking serve, Mac and I will each play two perfect games against serve, showing these basic principles. You can follow the score in the upper corner of your screen after each point. They said before we met how perfect we would be. There's no question. There's no answer. My forever mine. My forever mine. Sweetly spoken lines. Erasing other bad times. How long I've longed for the longing to stop. My forever mine. My forever mine. Take me in your arms. Whisper words like always. Stay until you go. Live forever. Love forever. My forever mine. My forever mine. The memories are there. To prove how real, how rare. Maybe just a place in time. My forever mine. My forever mine. Take me in your arms. Whisper words like always. Stay until you go. Live forever. Love forever. My forever mine. My forever mine. Take me in your arms. Whisper words like always. Stay until you go. Live forever. Love forever. My forever mine. My forever mine. My forever mine. My forever mine. MORPHO OPEN MEN . . . . . . . . . . .
