Upon arrival in Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph discovered that there was no place to stay.
Joseph would have to search and search, until a kind innkeeper felt compassion for them and let them spend the night in his stable.
In a crowd with its confusion, there were two from Galilee, a carpenter from Nazareth and a mother soon to be.
But no one there could realize that Heaven's royalty was about to enter time and space as Lord of History.

Jesus told his followers stories called parables, which contained lessons about their own lives.
He would sit around the fire and tell parables like the Good Samaritan, the story of a man left to die on the road to Jericho,
until the Good Samaritan treated him with compassion, caring for him and dressing his wounds.
A story which teaches us to love thy neighbor, even though others may shun him.
His followers listened to these stories, which helped them understand.
Stories like The Sower, which tells how seeds sown on fertile soil bear fruit just as God's Word spoken to those who believe yields a stronger faith.
He told them the parable of the Prodigal Son, which tells of God's fatherly love, forgiveness and mercy.
As a wayward son returns home, and despite his ill-doings, is greeted with open arms by his forgiving father.
And parables like The Lost Sheep, which tells the story of a shepherd who seeks one of his flock that has gone astray and safely returns it to the fold,
just as heaven rejoices over those who return to the faith.
Jesus would tell his followers these parables, and they listened, and they believed.
Through his wise teachings and compassionate deeds, people began to follow him.
They came from far and wide.
They came from the mountains, and from the fields.
They came to hear him speak.
The crowds grew.
And grew.
And grew.
They all heard about this man of wonder, miracles and wisdom, and they wanted to follow him.
They all came to hear one of the greatest sermons he was to deliver.
High atop the mount, the multitudes grew to hear his message, the message which we know as the Sermon on the Mount.

The time came for Jesus to travel to Jerusalem,
where crowds awaited to hail him as their Messiah.
Last night I lay asleep in, there came a dream so fair.
