You Fashion it's the driving force behind the fall color our color experts at Mary Kay have studied the trends and they have a lot of exciting things in store for us. I'm Elga Desatel product and sales education specialist. As you can see there's a whole lot going on we're getting ready for a great show let's check out the fall trends. Let's meet Jan Strimple top couture fashion model who has worked with some of the best designers in the entire world. Hi Jan. Elga how are you? I'm doing great thank you. We're glad you're here. Well I'm glad to be here and we want to know what is the latest and greatest in fall and holiday fashion. Simple contrast high contrast the yin and the yang of fashion without a doubt just like cosmetics this season you put a menswear pinstripe suit but a touch of very feminine lace slipping out from underneath it you'll have a short dress on but you'll wear a long almost a maxi or ankle length coat with it. The buzz word for the season is that opposites attract. That is so exciting Jan because the same thing goes for color cosmetics we're going to see light with dark smoky hues with pastels and matte with frost anything goes this season. Another trend is high sheen you'll see shimmer for both day and evening in that same shine is even in your fabrics this season it's in brocades it's in knits and this time it's even on the leg in hosiery. And all of that goes right into eyes cheeks and lips so you can see where the runway collection fits right in. Jan thank you so much for all that wonderful information. Glad you're here it's gonna be an exciting show. It is. Well you can see our runway collection fits right in. Take a look at our signature color moisturizing lipsticks we have six beautiful shades in all all of them with the metallic sheen which puts them right on trend this season and I absolutely love this mini gold case. Also with the metallicized finish are the nail color shields we have great colors like paparazzi purple and if you don't dare put it on your fingernails try it on your toenails. Another great look is to layer supermodel silver you can use this shade over other shades for an opalescent look and we've got three great eyeshadow duos along with three pencils with contrasting shades on each end the colors are totally different from anything in our regular line. Let's see how our Mary Kay international makeup artist team use our great new colors to create the seasons hottest new looks. I use the Parisian purple I use the light and dark and how I used it I think is great because I made it strong but it still looks very soft and I use the darker shade first to contour and I really used it in the crease of the eye but I used it to also go the part of the brush went into the crease and the other part of the brush went way up onto the brow bone which is beautiful and the brushes are so soft that it blended in the color just perfectly and I kind of went on a 45 degree angle and I love using this fluff type brush for blending now I use the lighter color basically on the lower part of the upper lid and I used it all the way into the corner over the entire bottom part of the upper lid and I blended it right into the darker shade and I use a little bit of the lighter color underneath your eye on the lower part of the lid by the base of the lash I use the darker of the in bow violet and I use it very thin I didn't want to make a heavy thick line so I line very gently and I went all the way out very thin giving it a very exaggerated elongated look and then I use the darker shade once again to blend over the pencil and I just brought that soft color all the way out and I blended perfectly the lighter color I use that underneath the bottom lashes but I also extended it to layer the look of it right underneath the extended line that also opens the eye you really needed something just sumptuous on your lips the lavender luxe is heavenly it's just looks so beautiful on your lips and I use the lip brush to apply it we need to get you into wardrobe so remember the buzzwords for this season are high contrast yin and yang and high shame Jan every one of us would just love to buy a new wardrobe every season but let's be real who can afford to do that and who has the time but we don't always do it by replacing our clothes I think accessories are the best way to do it come and take a look let me show you some of those trends starting with something that's absolutely fabulous are all those faux furs and we love those faux furs whether it's something like this where it's just simply that the trim on the collar and cuff on a fabulous otherwise classic suit or some of these prints that suggest a snake or a leopard or an ocelot or a variety of things there's some fun fabulous things like that little pick it up and wrapped around the neck skins and textures all the suggestions of snake and animal prints I love these scars they're wonderful beautiful and some tortoises shell which fits into that mix the myriads of browns and beiges and blacks all worked together and some of the skins today Elga are not just tiny look at this that is a statement they're oversized crocodiles oversized alligators moving on to something that I absolutely love our suede and suede actually is year-round although we're focusing on it this fall in a myriad of colors you're gonna see it on hands you're going to see it on the body and you're going to see it on the feet and as well as these fabulous evening handbags think what's old is new this has a vintage appeal but take a look at some of these pins to algo something we may have found it perhaps in our grandmother's jewelry box wonderful aren't those beautiful they are they take the simplest most modern clothes today pop a pin on and it absolutely modernizes it also takes it from day to evening and we talked about something else what's old is new again take a look at these don't these look vintage like maybe grandma knitted that or say that I love that great textures we haven't done beads for a while so that's a new way to update something to take a look at this the tassels and ropes that finish you just easily loop them over you can wear them at the neck or you wear them as a belt also from that vintage appeal look at something like that is that older is that new so sometimes we raid those vintage stores and sometimes we find it in our new fabulous stores it's a price focus because you can take a basic outfit and almost now we're working from day into evening a lot of our fabrics that's very new again we're going to wear shine in the day we're going to wear shine at the night but how we accessorize that shine is something that makes it different texture on the feet is news and take a look at some of these we've done this this texture in the copper tones we've done brocades here that you'll be taking a look at in both boot and shoe shapes and then shine which is what falls all about on the foot for evening and for day wear also texture in a cut velvet shoe which I love you're going to see obviously we all need in our closet a great walking shoe but rather than just a flat leather this season take it into a stamped suede something that gives you texture on the foot just like we're showing texture on the leg great and back on that point of the yin and yang the masculine and feminine take a look at that shoe that's masculine but that's a girl's heel and something really new for women is the winter sandal but you're not going to do it with the bare leg you're going to do it with textured hosiery going into it so it has more of a wintry feel from Wilford hosiery the best hosiery in the world we've got beautiful satin sheers the absolute new and exciting shimmer to the leg and of course classic ribbed texture those are very very nice so you can see that accessories are the magic this year you can take a suit that you had on last year and play in this closet of accessories and totally update your look well you know Robin what I used was golden rod as a highlighter which is really pretty and it brings out your brow bone and those fabulous brows that we did and then I also used backstage blue and I used that all over the lid and then I smoked it to give you a nice smoky look all over the lid and right up into the brow bone almost into the crease and into the contour and I use the blackest black as part of the line of it first I use the charcoal pencil I did look by defining pencil first and then I went over it with the blackest black right over here in the corners and then underneath I did the same exact thing and just to you know bring out the drama in your eyes and I think for the season you know metallics are in so a lot of metallic mouths and smoky eyes are happening and color is also coming back and this blue is perfect and you know what's great this season Mary Kay has added to their regular line especially for women of color new lip liners dark choice chocolate and dark best berry so they show up on every skin tone from the lightest light to the darkest ebony and so we won't have a problem with you know defining our lips and the one that I used on you was dark choice chocolate so I use dark choice chocolate to outline your lip and then I use the new downtown brown all over and then in the center of the lip I use glam gold to highlight beautiful mm-hmm and brown is really hot this season it's natural but it's dark yes yes it's a really great really great I love the lip lines yeah beautiful just beautiful well things are really shaping up back here let's see what's happening with yet another one of our runway looks see I wanted to keep the whole metallic look on your face Kimberly because I think you're still seeing a lot of that this coming season you'll be seeing it actually all through the next year especially in the gold family the golds the coppers the bronzes and Mary Kay has done exactly that with their new colors with their polishes and their shadows and their lips and on your eyes I decided to go with the greens and I know lots of times people with olive skin say I can't wear green I have a problem with greens what should I do but actually these greens are really clear and they work on olive complexions they work on undertones of yellow and they work really well they add drama and emphasis and exoticness without emphasizing the yellow in your skin I came in with the boss moss and I used both the light and the dark I use the light to highlight at the top of the lid and also on the lid and then I came in with the deeper of the two as you can see in the crease and blending over and also as my liner and I also mixed in with that the on the scene green pencil and I used both and if you look if you open your eyes underneath I came in with the dark green of the on the scene green pencil but then I came back over with the light because I think what you're also seeing in fashion is some lining underneath but then move blending it right out with lighter tones and you'll notice the gold that's on your lid is the golden rod I wanted just touches of metallic on your eyes I wanted that shimmery look that you're seeing so much of again this season you know there's absolutely nothing more exciting than one of the shows in New York first of all all of the world waits with bated breath to see what's going to be unveiled by all of our top American designers you're sitting there front and center and it's lights camera action that first model walks out and boy when it's you when you're the model there's nothing like walking out and delivering that dress for the first time the light bulbs are going off you're working that dress you're giving a little extra attitude and wearing it with love enter your customers in this fall's model makeover contest and the both of and when we move from fall into holiday the emphasis on the trends is the same but it becomes special occasions so let's take those trends and move them after five brocades which we see on our feet and on our bodies in those wonderful soft glam golds and lace but this time lace is sheer and fill me over an opaque bottom it just gives you the illusion of nudity but of course we're not and next is I love this a beautiful soft green and shine which we do day and evening again here it is in beading but this is the new beading it has an antique look to it it's soft and far more subtle and very delicious Jan I love these shimmery trends they're just so pretty but we're going to go ahead and take those same trends into holiday but we're going to add the shimmer to our eyes and we have these incredible icicles cream to powder eye colors our icicles cream to powder eye colors are perfect for that sheer shimmer they go on smoothly and they dry to a powdery finish and it's so great because they're also waterproof which means they're long-lasting and here's something I'd love to find in my stocking it is this absolutely gorgeous gold and black compact with our brand new lip finishes they come in two fabulous shade families it also comes with a wonderful little brush you can wear each color alone or you can combine them to create various looks and we have four finishes in each compact there's a cream and a frost and also a matte and a gloss so you can see how versatile these little compacts will be I'll go take a look at this for holiday what do you think I was beautiful let's go see what Luis is going to do as far as a holiday look a great idea this is really an exciting season and holiday makeup I really really try to do with you what I've been in a lot of the shows for fall which was emphasizing on the lip and then an overall shimmer all over the face on your lips I used the lip finish compact which I actually layered the pearl and the matte over it to have a little bit of a shimmer but yet not to be too glossy or shiny so that way we just brought out the lips and the cheeks which were very important on your cheeks I use a mixture of TVT berry and moth satin and it actually works really well because it brings out your cheeks and your lips I really love the new icicles by Mary Kay I use the ice cream color on your eye they're really great blend in with the fingertip you can also use a brush or just blend it with with the finger now you know I actually used a mixture of two colors of the icicles I use the ice cream and the bronze blitz in a little bit as you look up you can see I put a little bit in the corners of your eyes and then on your eyebrow which is really great I use the new eyebrow kit in this softer color which is really great because it comes with not only an angle brush which is perfect to do the eyebrow with but a little brush that you can actually go in and brush brush the hairs and blend it in like this with the shimmer and the lips and the blush going on I see the eyebrows just being done but not necessarily too strong and by doing it with a powder that's the best way to get it to look that way well you've seen what it takes to put together a runway collection enjoy the show Hey!
