Well, you've certainly made some people very, very happy, and I should mention also, Charlie, which I must apologize earlier, how much was actually raised from the house this year? $342,525. Oh, tremendous stuff. Put your hands together. That's great. Really good value. Charlie, next year? Thank you, Glenn. We'll see how we go, hey? Thank you, Colin. Yep, tremendous. Okay, Deanna, sorry, mate, you lost. Well, I was hoping, but well, there's always next year, Glenn. Don't forget, folks, keep supporting other telephone lotteries, including the Two Car Lottery. Much of the work is done by the entrants in the Quest by selling the tickets. In fact, last year's winner even apologized to the people who bought losing tickets from her. Entrants in this year's Quest also support the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is one of our state's largest. The work of Telephone has concentrated on special projects at the hospital through the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation. Last year was the first time the QEH had participated in the Quest with one entrant. I'm actually often a recipient of the funds that are raised by Telephone or other such organizations. I'm a scientist, I'm a geneticist, and we as researchers are very badly in need of funds. This year there are five entrants in the Quest from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Some of them are among the final group we'll meet tonight. I went around to all the hotels dressed as a clown with my girlfriend and we did really well. We did it for three, well, we did it for two nights. The third night I chickened out and we went dressed normally and I sold just as many dressed normally. So we had fun, though. A lot of free drinks. I've met a lot of people, a lot of nice people, and I think I've gained a lot more confidence in everything, you know, meeting all these people. Well, actually I decided to enter because a friend of mine who was involved with Telephone approached me and she asked whether I'd be interested in participating. And I thought about it for a while and I realized it was a very worthwhile charity and it would give me an opportunity to help people less fortunate than myself. So I decided to join. Some of the things I did to raise money were lamington drives, I sold hundreds of dozens of lamington, and chocolate and peanut brittle, and I had a movie night with a chicken and champagne supper and a quiz night. Well, working as a midwife, I do work quite some time in the neonatal unit where we deal with a lot of the sick and premature babies. It's very costly sort of issues and Telephone do help out in those sort of areas so I thought it would be beneficial and yeah, worthwhile. I enjoy fitness, I do a bit of gym work and I enjoy walking. I live near the beach so I spend a lot of time on the beach walking the dogs. I like to do sewing in my spare time when I'm not at work, going out with my friends, housework, spending lots of money on clothes, things like that. I've met a lot of wonderful friends. As I said, it's very rewarding, you feel as though you've really done something good, you've helped someone. It's just been good overall. I joined the quest because my mother died of cancer five years ago and I thought that the money raised by the Queen Elizabeth's Hospital would help find a cure, or towards a cure, or cancer and other terminally illnesses. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation is in Terenal so that's just marvelous. I entered the Telephone quest to help those little babies who are less privileged than some others. Raising money for the Queen Victoria Hospital gives me great satisfaction because you know the money is going to buy equipment for the hospital. Sold a lot of lottery tickets and Christmas cards last year running out to Christmas. My mum helped by booking lots of tickets for shows and things like that and other Phoenix events like the Rediffil night down at Glenelg and various things like that. Just really enjoyed it, getting to know the other girls in it, just the feeling that you're doing something really worthwhile. It's just been a really enjoyable experience. Can I quickly take this opportunity to say how to all the people who suffer from hay fever and have got colds at the moment. I know exactly what you're going through. Don't feel sorry for me or anything. No you're not really are you? Anyhow not to worry. Second prize in the charity section of the Telephone quest for 1991 comes from the group that you've just seen. On this occasion it goes to second prize in the charity section supports the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. It has raised a lot of money through the year in fact a total of $27,383.85. One on the way, another baby when's that due? In March. In March. What do you want boy or girl? Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter? How hard was it to raise some money when you do have a little five year old boy as well? Well I just about dropped him off at school and then went straight from there. So it didn't cause a problem at all? No not really. You've absolutely done a great job there's no doubt about that whatsoever Leanne. Put your hands together please. Ladies done a great effort. Okay after this break we'll be back and we'll be having a look at the four finalists okay so we're getting very very close to the end. We'll be back with the four finalists after this break. Please put your hands together for all 31 of our entrants in the telephone quest for 1991. Great group of young people as I mentioned earlier have certainly done a great job. Well we're getting close to that big time where we're going to announce the winners but firstly we're going to announce the four finalists in the 1991 telethon quest okay the four finalists in the actual telethon quest and we've got to say congratulations to Leslie Tripodi. Well done Leslie. Also Karen Heine congratulations Karen. Christine Varacalli congratulations Christine. And who's the final one who's the one who's going to get into the final four? Wouldn't be easy to trick people in. Now Cindy Casamets congratulations Cindy. So Cindy's made it through to the final four as well which is great. Now shortly we'll be finding out a little more about all of those four finalists and also very soon we'll be announcing the winner of the charity section but firstly we might just cross down to the Hindley and Deanna how's it going down there? Wonderful down here Glenn I hope you're not too hungry over in the studio. No no don't don't no of course not. The soup was lovely I can tell you. Anyway Glenn the telethon is sponsored by three media Channel 9, The News and 102 FM. They provide more than a million dollars in advertising time through telethon organisations. They also support the work of five charities in 1991. Here are two more charities not taking part in this year's quest. The Mary Potter Foundation is based at Calvary Hospital and is the state's leading centre for palliative care where patients with terminal diseases are cared for and comforted. Among the successful fundraisers supported by telethon were the Strathalpon Race Day, the Walk for Love and the Plant for Love. Exodus Youth and Community Services support young people and their families through programs such as the BuzzBus, a mobile centre for contact and counselling. The organisation also offers long term support. Exodus Youth fund runs at South Australian schools have this year raised over $275,000. Isn't that amazing amount of money and congratulations to all the people who took part in that. Okay, Telethon Quest 1991, first prize for the charity section. So here we go. The winner of first prize in the charity section also supported the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with her fundraising this year. She raised the excellent total, have a listen to this, $33,290.45. Congratulations. Lovely, thank you very much. Well done, congratulations Gina. Can I hop on the bandwagon there as well? Now let's have a quick chat. How did you raise all the money? It was a lot of hard work. I had trading tables at the hospital, I had raffles, I had Chinese banquets, I had everything imaginable. Now Gina, you're also studying as well. What are you studying for? I'm doing a pharmacy course just to learn how to be nice to people and generally just to have a good idea of all the products in our shop. And I'm also aware the reason you got into the quest is really quite nice too. What was that? I was approached by the hospital and I just felt that it would be a good challenge. Yeah, and it's helped you heaps as well hasn't it? Yeah, definitely. Gina, we're about to cross down to the Hindley Park Roll in the city and I think Deanna has a very special friend of yours down there. Yes Gina, I have your fiance Leroy here. Hi baby, you've done a great job. Don't worry darling, it's all over, well done. Leroy, Gina seems a bit emotional, how are you feeling for her? About the same I think. She put in a really fantastic effort and she was really determined to do well and that's the only way to cap it off by becoming first. Well done baby. Leroy, can you tell us when you're getting married? April the 4th next year. Congratulations. Thank you very much. Well that's all from the Hindley for the moment. And after the break we'll meet the winners in the 1991 Telethon Quest.
