Rebel troops appear to be gaining the upper hand in the Philippines tonight. As fighting continues in the capital, Manila, the rebels have seized key installations, including the main air force base and the army and marine headquarters. But President Corriaquino's office says the situation is under control, and government troops are waiting for reinforcements before launching a counterattack. Watersiders at Tauranga are tonight optimistic of a settlement in the port dispute. That will be good news for farmers. Some of them are so angry about the dispute, they've been threatening to throw the wharfies into the sea. The talks will resume on Monday. One of New Zealand's biggest construction and development companies has gone into receivership. A victim of the commercial property slump, Wilkins and Davies, owes money to six banks, and they finally decided to call the receivers in today.
