We thank thee, O God, for our home and for all persons who belong to our family circle. Each day we rejoice in the evidences of growth and development of each member. We feel thy presence in our midst when we see thy plan for growth unfold before us. Though our growth may be slow and sometimes painful, may we be always conscious of thy presence with us. We pray that you may be with us, and that you may be with us. We pray for patience when we're unable to do all the things we would like to accomplish. Help us to do well those things which are possible. Give us the wisdom to wait to do other tasks until we're ready for them. And at all times, give us the grace to accept our limitations. Keep us sensitive to the needs of one another. Help us to offer encouragement and help so that all of us may understand better thy plan for growth in the family. May the love which we know through Jesus be a part of our family life today, so that all who come into our family circle may feel thy presence here. We pray in the name of Jesus, who also grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with thee and with man. And point me to the sky, and knowing grace, and the peace. Father, we confess our sin, the sin of loud impatience. Heavenly parent, thou dost understand. Thou knowest the selfish spirit, the rankling thoughts, the hasty words, the strident tone. Forgive, we pray, for Jesus' sake. Thou too didst see the hurt made deep by cutting barbs, the heart torn and poisoned, the spirit bruised and questioning. O Father, forgive our sin. Purge from our lives those angry, unthinking moments. Cleanse us from lack of love. Strike out the root of pride which brings forth its bitter fruit. Grant us the triumph of Christ's life in ours, tenderness and compassion alive in us. And Father, heal the wounds, renew trust and confidence. Grant courage to go on. Bind us all to thee in love and to one another, in Jesus' name and for thy glory. Grant us, O God, to be so grateful to thee for Jesus Christ, that everything we do today in word or deed may be done in his name. As we speak to each other, help us to speak as in his presence. When differences arise, as they sometimes do, help us to remember the understanding and forgiving spirit which our Lord Jesus Christ has towards us. As we make our plans, let them be directed by the knowledge that he is saving us and that our lives belong to him. And as we go out to play, to school, to work, grant that the things we say and do may be said and done in his name. Dear God, thou who art our heavenly Father, as well as the God and Father of all families, living crowded together in big cities, alone on wide prairies or across the oceans, help us to feel that we are part of thy worldwide family. Forgive us for selfish thoughts about our own loved ones and for often forgetting that those who do not look like us or think as we do are still thy children. We thank thee for thy plan that put us together in families. Be with those mothers, fathers, and children who face separation, sickness, hunger, or suffering. Give them a sense of thy abiding presence. Help all those who love thee and are dedicated to thy service to so express their love by all they do or say that the spirit of hatred and evil may be overcome. Teach us how to find the real worth of little things and fill us with the joy of living as we look at the wonders of thy creation. May we never feel unimportant because thy children are so many or too important because we are so blessed. Draw us each day closer to one another and to thee. This we pray in the name of Jesus who came to show us God's way of life. Amen. What we are in our family life is the real test of our Christianity. Amen.
