Hello and welcome to the world of Fisher and Peichel. Thank you for buying your Fisher and Peichel Frost Free Refrigerator. In this video I'll be telling you all about the soft line range of frost free refrigerators as well as providing you with details of how to use and take proper care of your new refrigerator. Fisher and Peichel have been manufacturing quality whiteware for over 50 years and your new refrigerator is the product of years of research and development and field testing. With Fisher and Peichel products beauty is more than just skin deep. While the flare of contemporary design is combined with the practical requirements of functional features and storage, the soft line range of refrigerators incorporates some of the most innovative refrigeration technology of our time. This means better food care, improved storage, easier access and cleanability. Let's see how Fisher and Peichel's refrigerators have an advantage in their ability to keep food fresher longer. In the freezer compartment the movement of air is sustained by a small fan ensuring that cold air continuously envelops the food and prevents moisture depositing on your food and building up into frost formations. Frost cubes remain transparent and crystalline and won't stick together. The forced convection of cold air means a uniform temperature will be maintained throughout the freezer. But perhaps the most significant thing about the soft line frost free freezer compartment is that you'll never ever have to defrost it. Your soft line refrigerator compartment has a separate cooling system creating a climate completely independent of the freezer. The fresh air circulates freely creating a range of environments in which all foods can be stored at their most suitable temperature. The gentle circulation of air means the natural moisture in foods is retained and the freshness and flavor of foods is preserved. The Fisher and Peichel system has one very important and very distinct advantage, it keeps food fresher longer. Another food care feature comes with the fruit and vegetable bins. The bins are tapered so that when they're in their fully closed position there is a tight seal between the bin and the unique lid attached to the bottom of the lower refrigerator shelf. Normally, sealed containers in refrigerators suffer from condensation problems, but Fisher and Peichel design engineers have cleverly created small ribs on the lid so that condensation, instead of forming drips, moves down to the rear of the lid where water is evaporated by circulating cold air. With this innovative design, a storage life of up to two weeks can be expected for your fruit and vegetables. You also told our research people that the fruit and vegetable bins on top freezer models were too small. We have now designed a new bin that will take even the longest vegetables. A major feature of Fisher and Peichel refrigerators is the flexibility offered to meet the requirements of the individual home. Our research showed us that the concept of solid storage shelves was positively welcomed in the market. Designed to withstand rugged treatment, the solid shelves are strong and durable, providing a smooth see-through surface which is easy to clean and designed to stop spills onto food stored on shelves below. To meet individual storage needs, all refrigerator shelves can be easily adjusted. Also, adjustable larger capacity door shelves have been added to accommodate two litre bottles and three litre wine or juice casks. In all bottom freezer models and upright freezers, slide-out freezer baskets are provided. These glide on rollers for easy access. On top freezer models, convenient door bins are provided. They are especially suited for the storage of frozen vegetables and are removable. In some of the larger models, there is a convenient roll-out compartment for ultimate convenience in the storage of fruit and vegetables. By adjusting the baffle between the refrigerator and the vegetable compartment, you can either raise or lower the temperature, depending on the type of product stored within. For those models with a butter conditioner, it incorporates a side-opening spring-loaded see-through door, a covered butter dish which holds 500g of butter, and a new improved slide temperature controller. It can be easily removed and refitted depending on your butter storage needs. The covered compartments on the top of the door self-close so that there is no risk of breakage. A special tip about these compartments, they are particularly good for storing strong smelling items such as garlic without contaminating the rest of the refrigerator. The egg racks are standard in all Fisher and Peichel refrigerators, designed to either fit the small door shelves or stand alone in the refrigerator. Another innovative feature has been to relocate the previously exterior rear condenser system and build it into the interior of the refrigerator. This means no more dust gathering on the rear of your fridge, a reduced cabinet depth, and improved energy efficiency. And with the designer kitchen in mind, all Fisher and Peichel refrigerators can be fully integrated into any kitchen upgrade or existing kitchen decor with a matching kitchen covered door attached to your refrigerator door. Your new Fisher and Peichel refrigerator is the most important major home appliance that you will buy. The health and welfare of your family depends on it. So before we go on to the use and care of your Softline Frost Free, let me explain simply how your refrigerator works. Heat will flow naturally from a warm body to a cooler one in the same way that water flows from a higher to lower level. We make use of this fact in your refrigerator. The heat from warm food flows to the cooling plate at the rear of your refrigerator, known as the evaporator. It's a series of very thin pipes with a refrigerant liquid inside. The heat from the food gradually turns the liquid into a gas. It's just like putting meths on your hand. It keeps on feeling cold as the heat from your hand evaporates the meths. Your hand was actually being refrigerated. A compressor now pumps this gas at high pressure into the pipes, which loop around the sides and back of the refrigerator. This hot gas gives off heat to the surroundings and cools into a liquid. This part of the circuit is called the condenser and is the reason why you will notice the outside of your refrigerator is warm. The liquid then passes through a control device, which causes the pressure to drop quickly, similar to water squirting out of the nozzle of a hose. There, the liquid passes back into the evaporator and the whole cycle repeats itself once again. Now let's take a look at how to get the best out of your Fisher and Piper refrigerator. It is designed to operate in a room temperature of between 10 degrees Celsius and 43 degrees Celsius. And the refrigerator's temperature has been set up in the factory for normal operating conditions. Re-adjust the control to best suit your purposes. Remember one is warmest, seven is coldest. On installation, always allow the refrigerator to run empty for two to three hours before placing non-frozen food in the freezer compartment. The doors on all models can be changed to left or right hand opening very simply, offering flexibility in kitchen layout. You'll notice too that your new refrigerator has front and rear rollers with thumb wheel height adjusters to help you get your fridge level. And as well, there's a breaking device to stop your fridge rolling. Fisher and Piper has used innovative design and technology to bring you a refrigerator which is amongst the finest in the world. But when you're storing fresh perishable foods in your refrigerator, you must always remember that the quality of food before it is placed in your refrigerator is important for successful storage. But familiarize yourself with the recommended maximum storage times listed on the inside of your freezer door. Now here's some tips for storing individual foods. If your refrigerator has a butter conditioner, remember it has an individual control. A little experimenting and you'll soon have your butter just right for your purposes. Butter will keep for six months in the refrigerator but only seven to ten days in the butter conditioner. Unpacked cheese can be stored in its original packaging for quite some time. But once opened, place in a sealed plastic bag or wrap in plastic wrap or foil to prevent drying out over time. Cheese can be stored in the covered door compartment for up to a week or for longer periods on the lower shelves of the refrigerator. Fresh red meat should be placed on a plate and loosely covered with wax paper or plastic wrap and it should be stored in the coldest part of the refrigerator, that is the lowest shelf. Poultry should be rinsed inside and out before storage and also stored like red meat in the coldest part of the fridge. Dairy products like sour cream and yogurt should be stored on the lower shelves while tropical juices, sauces and non-dairy desserts on the upper shelves. Fish fish should preferably be used on the day of purchase. It should also be stored on a plate in the coldest part of the fridge. When using your freezer compartment, do not pile frozen food around the fan cover as this can prevent proper air circulation. And once again, choose only high quality foods that freeze well. Select good quality moisture and vapour proof packaging. Remove air from the package and seal so that the package remains airtight. Freeze food as quickly as possible and never freeze more than 1 kilogram of food per 25 litres of freezer capacity. Practice good freezer techniques as described in your use and care booklet. Basic hygiene and regular cleaning are fundamental to the management of every refrigerator to help prevent contamination of the food. The shelves should be removed regularly and washed in warm water with the aid of a refrigerator cleaner or detergent and then well rinsed. The inside of the cabinet should be occasionally wiped down and rinsed as well. Remove the fruit and vegetable bins and detach the humidity control cover from the rear clips and slide it out. Then clean the cover and bins in warm soapy water. To reassemble, insert the cover in the front channel of the shelf and then snap in the rear clips. If your refrigerator has a fruit and vegetable roll out compartment, pull the compartment out until it stops. Then lifting it, continue to slide it out until fully extended. Then simply rest the compartment on the floor, remove the tray, divider rack and the bin for cleaning. To remove the lower shelf and models with fruit and vegetable roll out compartments, slide the shelf forward and lift out. To replace the light bulb inside your refrigerator, make sure the power is switched off at the wall and remove the lamp by unscrewing anti-clockwise.
