Early in her career, some music critics dismissed Amy Grant because she sang religious-oriented music. Now more than 10 million albums and five Grammys have proved those opinions short-sighted. Grant has the hottest and some say sexiest new single on the pop music charts. Baby, baby, I'm taken with the notion To love you with the sweetest of the ocean Baby, baby marks the start of a new sound and new image for gospel singer Amy Grant. She's making music that's pure pop and it's climbing the charts dramatically. And she's got a new look that can only be called sexy. I'm a happily married woman and married to a real sexy guy. I mean, that's just as much a part of my life as going to church on Sunday morning. And I think especially just after all the hideous PR that Christians in the press, you know, in the public eye have done, my lands get a real person out there, you know. And if that is showing me as a real person, it is who I am, go for it. And ever since the day you opened my heart in motion Baby, I realize that there's just no getting over you The sexy single Baby, Baby is the first hit from her new album Heart in Motion, but the inspiration for the romantic song was not her husband. I just wasn't feeling inspired and I pulled in the garage and walked in the back door and at the time my daughter, she's a year old, she was six weeks old at the time, and I walked in and I saw her sweet little face and I just said, oh baby, baby. And then I thought, this is it, you know, who cares what the inspiration is. But even with this new look and sound for Amy Grant, she says she's the same inside. It has felt like Hoosiers, you know, the girl from the small music genre getting out there and measuring the basketball court is still the same. I'm picking up the same guitar, I'm singing with the same voice, I've got the same heart and the same values in life and I'm just in a different arena, possibly now. It's a lot of fun. Well, she's going to keep on with that. Amy's next three weeks are jammed. She's on a promo tour, will film the video for her song Every Heartbeat, and begins rehearsals for a concert tour this summer. Don't you know that Vanilla Ice brought his own style of white funk to rap music? Now there's a rapper named Gerardo who has his fans dancing to rap with a Latin beat. He's new, he's nasty, and he has one of the hottest records in the country. Take a look. He's better than Elvis or New Kids. He's got everything. He's got what everyone else doesn't have. I don't understand what he says, but I like the way he says it. Meet Gerardo, the 25-year-old rap star who's tearing up the pop charts with his hit single Rico Suave. Originally from Ecuador, he sings in a mixture of Spanish and English called Spanglish. You pop the question, that's it. I'm ready to move those days, what the hell is this? Gerardo is so new to the music scene, some of his fans confuse his name with the Rico Suave of his song. It's something he spoofs with veteran funk star George Clinton in the opening of We Want the Funk, Gerardo's next video. Oh yeah, you that Rico Suave, yeah, you that right. Yeah, Gerardo Suave, yeah right. My name's not Rico, right, it's Gerardo. I just want to establish that, you know, everybody's calling me Rico on the streets, everybody, hey Rico, Rico, Rico, you know. So, that's good, you know, they got it in their head, but you know, you got to make sure they know my name. So please don't judge a book by its cover, there's more to being a Latin lover. The words Rico Suave actually mean tasty and smooth, qualities that describe the sexy dancers on display throughout his video. And he's seen romancing them to the lively backdrop of Acapulco's club life. Racy stuff, but Gerardo says it's really all in good fun. It's a parody on Latin male and I don't take myself seriously. I mean, as you can tell, if I was, I didn't smile throughout the whole video, you know, I looked at myself and I took myself seriously, it would be a totally different story, people would think, hey, this guy's a jerk. But no, it's sort of a funny thing. He also had a good time making this video. Gerardo says when word got out he was casting for dancers. He had no trouble finding plenty of local talent. I went out to the club, looked around and said, her, her, her, her, her, he goes, come here, let me talk to you, and then it was great, you know, it was like everybody, it was spring break back then, everybody was having a great time, you know, and you know, you tell a girl you're going to be in a video, they're like, oh yeah, I'll be there tomorrow morning. They were there six in the morning, sharp, ready to go, looking good, in their bikinis. I love it when I hear myself say, he also had a good time making the video. What's not to have a good time about? He hated the video. Yeah, I think we're going to have to hose down the crew here before we can move on. Before he started rapping, Gerardo tried acting. He played a gang member in colors, but gave up on acting and the only roles offered him afterwards were more gang members. Now, John, there are more Elvis impersonators than ever, right at this very point in time. I knew that. And to keep them all straight, there's a new directory. Yes, Mary Hart has more on the inside story for Monday. Mary. Thank you, Lisa. We'll take a look at the pretenders to the King's throne, Elvis impersonators from A to Z. I tell you, it don't get no better than this. We have the book on Elvis impersonators, and the inside story Monday on Entertainment Tonight. Break out the trumpets and the fanfare next weekend on Entertainment Tonight. It's time for the glitz and glamour and all the excitement of the Oscars. We'll give you the inside scoop on the nominees and their hopes and dreams of Oscar next weekend. Time was when every kid had a dream to run away from home and join the circus, Lisa. Well, David LaRee-Blade didn't have to run too far. He came from a circus family, and his clowning around has landed him right in the center ring under the big top. The Greatest Show on Earth touts amazing acrobats, exotic animals, and trapeze artists with the greatest of ease. But for the first time in its 121 editions, the Ringling Brothers' Bartaman Bailey Circus is featuring a one-man act as its headlining performance. Let's welcome the clown of clowns, David LaRee-Blade. Just one day, the clown come out of my person, and so I tell to my father, Papa, I want to be a clown. With that request, it's lucky that Italian-born LaRee-Blade came from a circus family. After becoming a big hit under the big top in Europe, he came to America to clown around. In Europe, we have a little small arena, maybe 2,000 or 3,000 people maximum. And here you have the big arena with 20,000 people. The three-ring show and the people is very far from you. But that doesn't stop LaRee-Blade from continuing his trademark act, which includes embarrassing a few members of the audience. He like when I take him in a ring, because I think it's part of the American culture, to be part of the show, show business. An accomplished musician and ballet dancer, LaRee-Blade says his centuries-old profession is not just painted on. The clown is the most complete artist in the circus. The clown has to be a good musician, a good dancer, a good acrobatic, a good juggling. Every of this work in one. Just when you have all this technique and with the talent, you can be a good clown. And the new Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey show makes its formal debut in New York on Thursday. Don't you know somebody else is going to be making her debut on the race track on April 13th, what a lucky day. Lisa has been practicing her need for speed. Thank you, John. And we'll put you on the right track with her. Many people fantasize about getting behind the wheel of a souped-up race car and taking it on the fast track. Our own Lisa Gibbons is no exception. Along with Marcia Mason, James Sicking, Craig T. Nelson and Dennis Franz, she decided to race in the upcoming Toyota Pro Celebrity Race. So naturally, our cameras just had to come along for the ride during a practice session. I learned this from Tom Cruise. No, I think that's exactly what they tell you not to do. Whoa, whoa. She did not have an easy time of it though. Especially when Dana Ashbrook of Twin Peaks followed a bit too close trying to pass. I could have taken her twice up there, but I didn't want to scare her. But he swears he wasn't trying to run her off the road. Not yet, not yet. Maybe when she gets a little faster, I will. She'll kill me for saying this. You don't feel confident? I don't feel confident or fast. Oh. I'm so nervous. Everybody is popping me. Just go in. Break early, give yourself more time, just go through it in your head. At the end of practice, our gal Lisa had a distinction of needing more instruction from the professionals than anybody else. We checked with her fellow drivers to assess her driving abilities. Well, you know better than that. The great advantage that Lisa has is Lisa, she doesn't have to be a wonderful driver. I like, I liked watching Lisa get into her outfit. I like watching the back of her car even. I no longer feel the need for speed. You got to get tough, Lisa. I've humiliated now. No, no, it was great. You got to work on your rap though. He's passing me. You got to try it again. He's passing me. All I want to do is get through the race and not break a nail. Otherwise, I think I'll be just fine. Stay away from Dennis Franz who likes the back of your car. I'm mad now. I'm going after those guys. Next weekend, it's Oscar time. Plus Mel Gibson is going back to school to freshen up Shakespeare for us. We're going to say so long for this week with more of Amy Grant singing her hit, Baby, Baby. And you guys look out on the track. I'll be back. He's passing me. See you later. Bye. Bye.
