88 a little later on we're gonna insert a little wacky stuff some nutty stuff hello everyone and welcome to entertainment tonight John Tesh Mary Hart and Lisa Gibbons are all off holding down the fort I'm Rob Weller well actress Robin Gibbons husband perhaps better known as the heavyweight champ Mike Tyson had another one-punch fight in New York the heavyweight champ suffered a hairline fracture of his right hand about 430 a.m. Tuesday in a street fight with former opponent Mitch Blood Green outside an all-night clothing boutique in Harlem the fight was a result of some bitterness about Greens payment from their May 1986 fight which he lost to Tyson in a 10-round decision Tyson called a press conference to say that Green had started the street brawl he grabbed my shirt with a car rip my shirt went trying to go for a park and I pushed him off he came back at me he threw a punch at me I was nervous I haven't had a flight like a street fight in seven years and I was scared I was getting paranoid because it's so close he kept getting close to me I mean so I defended myself Green who has had previous trouble with the law claims that Tyson caused a five-stitch cut on his nose by striking him and then running away but he ran didn't knock me out could knock me out controversy and trouble had been following the champ this year his marriage to head of the class star Robin Givens has only fueled the media fire I think that people don't realize how much hype is involved when it when it comes to these things Givens was in Los Angeles the night of the Harlem altercation and ironically Tyson was reportedly picking up a custom-made $850 jacket that reads don't believe the hype on the back well many adult film stars are would-be actors who dreamed of a normal acting career but who gave up on Hollywood now a growing number of ex porn stars are trying to go legit Jean Wolf reports at this month's VSTA video convention in Las Vegas the boost selling x-rated fare were among the most popular thanks to personal appearances by the top stars of the hardcore market but at another booth under the banner of a major Hollywood studio something unheard of was happening the so-called princess of porn Tracy Lord's was promoting her work in a non x-rated film I didn't think I was gonna live to be 20 I thought 20 was old I turned 22 weeks ago and I've never been happier Tracy Lord's was the notorious underage star of dozens of hardcore films then the law caught up with her and had her movies pulled from theaters and video stores now Lord's is trying to cross over from the world of x-rated theaters to ones like those across the street Tracy decided to cross over while making her last hardcore film I couldn't do it I went home and I remember being in the shower for a very long time but you can't wash that off that's the problem if you could wash it off you'd be fine but you can't it's Tracy Lord's Tracy's breakthrough her first legitimate film was the science fiction spoof not of the service released earlier this year shared paranoid doesn't exactly make us large brothers Jeremy but the transition hasn't been easy it isn't easy it's been so difficult are you kidding me people don't want me to be intelligent it would be easier to say Tracy Lord's is a bimbo I mean that is so typical Tracy also landed a small part in the CBS series wise guy and next month she stars in her own exercise video I'm very determined and I'm ambitious and I know what I want and I just don't think it's right if someone tells you you can't have something because of something that you did that you did when you were younger or you just made a mistake I just don't think that it's right can Tracy Lord's erase her past no can she succeed in legitimate show business in spite of it the evidence says she already has Jean Wolf Entertainment Tonight a new film about the life of John Lennon will reach movie screens in early October here's an exclusive look at the upcoming imagine imagine all the people living for today when I was 16 I reestablished a relationship with my mother for about four years she taught me music and then unfortunately she was run over by an off-duty policeman this isn't another Beatles film this is a film about John Lennon's life and I would say two-thirds of the footage in our movie has never been seen by even the most die-hard Beatle fan today reaching many private moments of John's life have been called from nearly 230 hours of footage one scene is particularly striking while using a Ouija board I believe that there will be an attempt to assassinate you he's sitting on his bed at Tittenhurst with Yoko and John's opening mail he has no idea what's coming next they're just shooting in a letter he opened says that there some guy has been playing with a Ouija board and there will be an attempt on his life on such and such a date and that this message came to him through an intermediary in this case Brian Epstein the film includes interviews with sons Sean and Julian as well as a special interview with John prior to his death in 1980 he did about 40 hours of interview and that's all off-camera and we used a lot of that voice material as well and it's very insightful because in him in a way he tells us the story of his life from the perspective of a man looking back just prior to his death scenes from the upcoming film imagine now weird Al Yankovic starred in video satires of Michael Jackson and Madonna among others and has become the clown prince of parody pop now he set his sights on movie stardom why do they call him weird Al watch weird Al Yankovic is on top of the world he's starring in UHF his first major movie role in a film he co-wrote and he says it's an amazing concept basically the movie is a rapidly projected series of still images which when played in the right order create the illusion of motion it's a comedy which I know is kind of a new direction for me I'm trying to branch out that way George you know I was wondering like like if you were traveling throughout her space I mean like you're going real fast like the speed of light you know and all of a sudden you start screaming ah you think that your brain would blow up weird Al promises the movie will retain some of his nutty style of humor while at the same time expanding his comedy repertoire we're hoping for some nutty stuff a little later on right now it's been like a documentary it's been like a kind of an epic you know cast of dozens but you know a little later on we're gonna insert a little wacky stuff some nutty stuff a little zany stuff perhaps Yankovic doesn't worry people won't appreciate his humor he knows who his audience is exclusively middle-aged Japanese women in the film weird Al winds up in charge of a small UHF TV station where he brings on all kinds of crazy acts Yankovic co-stars with Saturday Night Live's Victoria Jackson he looks so cute when his bangs aren't in his eyes you know it's the way yeah I think he has a face like Christopher Columbus he looks exactly like Columbus must have looked like discovering America but Yankovic says he's not letting his movie star status go to his head and I never thought 30 years ago I'd be doing a movie because I wasn't born at that time well talking about new careers of broadcasting careers well underway for Jessica Hahn by the time she gets to Phoenix she'll be rising early enough to host a 530 a.m. radio show on station KY FM now Hahn made a guest appearance on the show last week made such a good impression she's been signed to a daily slot for the next month with promises that the job could last longer Hahn turned down co-hosting a local Pittsburgh TV talk show to become a Phoenix DJ coming up next Tom Berenger tackles another controversial movie role and ahead the voice behind the California Raisin stakes his show on the road the new film betrayed is sure to touch raw nerves with its themes of white supremacy and bigotry last night the stars turned out for a benefit premiere of a movie that exposes an ugly and frightening side of America the trade co-star Deborah winger led the celebrities attending the premiere screening of the controversial film about murderous racial bias winger plays an undercover FBI investigator who falls in love with a character played by Tom Berenger and then discovers he's a violent white supremacist could I even look at him again touch me it's chilling my wife was saying that there must be a lot of truth to it because you can't make stuff like that up very very hard-hitting real strong that's a very strong film you know about a very serious subject it's very important this movie because it's not supposed to happen like this people were supposed to be treated equally that's what this is around so I hope it makes a dent out there highlighting the evening betrayeds director Kosta Gavras was given the ACLU's annual torch of liberty award we tried to do a movie about the the unbearable race of racism which is afraid it's happening the last ten years here not here only the United States but all over the world and especially the Western world now betrayed star Tom Berenger spoke with Mary Murphy about the impact and consequences of the subject matter and about a role that was one of his toughest since platoon many movie fans were shocked by Tom Berenger's portrayal of the sadistic sergeant Barnes and platoon doc take him and bag him that scarred face made Berenger's character a truly ruthless and menacing bad guy now in his new movie betrayed Tom is even more chilling but he starts out likable to an unsuspecting movie audience and there you know popcorn and drinking their cokes and stuff and then all of a sudden what it turns out Berenger is a white supremacist bent on teaching Deborah winger how to kill blacks and Jews this is a Mac 10 fully automatic machine pistol well this baby back got one up the snout ready to go they just walk out drained at the end but you know people were like that after platoon but I think it's because it's sad they were sad you know but a few days later kind of invigorated by what they saw I don't know if that's necessarily the case with this one what do you think of this guy what's your real reaction to him he's I guess borders on psychotic because of the fact that he can turn so quick and that he can also rationalize everything he does he has the ability to rationalize and and does not I mean he has a conscience about some things but but about that he doesn't there's no there's no guilt there's no consciousness whatsoever it's just okay whoo we were so relaxed bam girl you got the instinct no yeah are you afraid that people might watch the movie and then go out and imitate what this guy does well I've wondered about it you know I've wondered about that there's consequences to anything you do in life would I shoot somebody for you're upset I understand that okay you do something like that you better be willing to die or serve time for the rest of your life once again Berenger gives us an all-american villain that will make audiences think Mary Murphy entertainment tonight now betrayed opens in theaters nationally on Friday buddy miles has played with the best in rock and roll his upbeat rhythms were a ray of sunshine in the early 1960s and early 70s but recently he's been pounding his drums in obscurity now thanks to a television commercial Miles is raising the roof again miles is the lead vocalist for these little guys their hit commercials and record albums have put miles out on the road again with a new band and back in the studio this tune for his new album is a duet with newcomer Anna Marie it's a blessing I mean it's like it's like a big old piece of cake you know what I'm saying and it's giving me a chance like to see my old friends again cuz like everybody that sees me the first thing buddy buddy buddy come on buddy let's go let's go play the friend who helped bring buddy back was guitar great Carlos Santana but buddies played with all the greats from Wilson Pickett to Eric Clapton to the immortal Jimi Hendrix a man who has made a lasting first impression on buddy here's this guy all of a sudden he's like this and on and off to his legs and everything and they've taken it with like that and I said wait a minute after 25 years of making music miles has one very simple plan of action any town anytime anyhow USA you know I'm ready to rock the nation and I'm serious I wants to rock this nation I got the feet I got the hands and I got the equipment and the formula is in order finally now good for him well Hollywood is no stranger to struggles against the censors the furor over the last temptation of Christ is only the latest in a long line of battles for artistic expression well Leonard Malton joins me today with a kaleidoscope of home videos written by a man familiar with controversy Leonard absolutely so Rob with all the talk of movie censorship lately I guess it's fitting that our video topic this week is Tennessee Williams Paul Newman's production of the glass menagerie is the latest Williams play to become a movie and it's just out on home video this week it's also one of the few Williams movies that hasn't run afoul of the censors if you rent one of his earlier films on video the ones just dripping in southern decadence you'll soon discover why resume you see keep yourself fresh and pretty for the gentleman cause I'm not expecting any gentleman callers the nice thing about me sometimes they come when they are least expected a faded flowers fantasy life propels the drama in the glass menagerie this is the third time this much-loved play has been filmed and under Paul Newman skillful direction it blossoms once again Joanne Woodward is especially good Katherine Hepburn plays a much more lethal mother and suddenly last summer a mother who can't forgive the death of her son or keep from lashing out at her niece Elizabeth Taylor as if she was to blame she's babbling again babbling and lying he left her home because she had lost her because you stole him lost her attraction what would attraction have to do with a son and a mother is there no way to stop these lies have my brain cut another unsavory relationship forms the focal point of baby doll with Carol Baker is the child bride of Karl Malden who has a tendency to go overboard in his dealings with the girl the very next time you try to break our agreement the very next time and speaking of families wait till you get a load of the mendacious clan and cat on a hot tin roof burl Ives is big daddy who knows all too well that his children are just waiting for him to die Elizabeth Taylor is married to his son Paul Newman but just barely you we occupy the same cage that's all finally there's a streetcar named desire arguably Tennessee Williams greatest play and my personal favorite of his films Vivian Lee is superb as the fragile Blanche Dubois and Marlon Brando is unforgettable as her swaggering uncivilized brother-in-law Stanley Kowalski who's never met anyone quite like her their performances alone make this movie a must he is just so great in that movie everyone's great in that movie Karl Malden and Kim Hunter and the music by Alex North and direction by Ilya Kazan if you've never seen streetcar named desire and you only want to see one of these that's the one to get that's your pick that's my favorite Stella is a classic line now Stella yeah all right thanks Leonard we're gonna return in a moment with the first Christmas card of the year air transportation furnished and a promotional fee paid by Delta Airlines Delta is first in passenger satisfaction of all major US Airlines at Delta we love kicked off ticket sales for its annual Christmas show this is the tenth year of this production called the magnificent Christmas spectacular and even with summer's heat and threatening skies the Christmas show tickets I know the song says we need a little Christmas right this very minute we're talking about the 24th of August is it a little too early you think I think it is but you know it's
