The 14th Commonwealth Games. Five days to go. The first day of the second test match at the Adelaide Oval between Australia and Pakistan. Welcome to the highlights. This is the day when test cricketers for the first time see the new stand at the Adelaide Oval. The ground itself is in magnificent condition. Tony Gregg reported the pitch looked absolutely marvelous. Well Imran Khan, the skipper, had no doubts about what he wanted to do. Once he'd won the toss he decided Pakistan would bat. Now the teams announced by the two captains before the start. First of all the Australians. Peter Sleep has been made 12th man and as we feared yesterday Terry Alderman is out of the side. Greg Campbell of Tasmania has come in to replace Alderman. Peter Taylor is in the Australian final 11. Peter Sleep as we say is 12th man. Now for Pakistan, Mushtaq Ahmed the young leg spinner comes into the side. So too does Salim Malik and Rami's Raja. Those latter pair have been flown in from Pakistan to reinforce the batting and Amir Malik goes out and Mansur Akhtar has flown back to Pakistan. Rami's Raja and Salim Malik two very experienced players and it's Rami's Raja we join now in the first over. There's just one run on the board he is taking strike and Merv Hughes is the bowler.
