Blue’s Room
We introduced TRU to Blue’s Room and presented them with the promotional and product strategies for the brand. Overall, TRU’s reaction was positive and they liked the new direction of the property with the live action. We also presented them with an opportunity to support the Times Square location next August in exchange for securing a chain-wide Blue’s Room event.

Dora
We discussed the idea of dual merchandising the Dora brand in both Preschool and Girl to best capture the Diego/unisex market and maximize the brand. Dora continues to perform well at TRU, so based on the Fall 2004 line review, TRU will determine which department will be the key driver for Dora moving forward.

Little Bill
We presented TRU with an update on our Little Bill strategies.

SpongeBob
We presented a top-line update on the property and are working to set up a separate meeting to present SpongeBob movie.

Promotional Opportunities
Wayne Yodzio expressed interest in developing more Video/Toy cross-category promotions. Please let us know of any opportunities that arise.

2004 property and product initiatives

Andrea Farkas

yes

Overall, KB is looking for product differentiation from Wal-Mart and other mass retailers.  Moving forward, KB will position themselves as a Toy and Gift Specialty Store.  They are also exploring Room Decor and other kids categories.

DORA

Dora business at KB is very strong.  KB is pleased with the property and seemed excited about the new initiatives, including FairyTale and Diego.  They also expressed satisfaction with the Fisher Price preschool line.  We anticipate their support of FairyTale product next year.

BLUE

We received great reception around Blue's Room.  They were excited about the launch and direction of the property, so we feel there is an opportunity to expand Blue's presence in 2004.

SPONGEBOB

They are excited about the movie and are interested in supporting SpongeBob in their stores for Holiday '04.  They are currently considering a potential 4-foot Front of Store display, and Nick will work with them to support the section with a promotional overlay.

FAIRLY ODDPARENTS

Initial sales are slow but KB likes the property.  Pending a sales success, they would be interested in expanding the property's presence in 2004.

OTHER

We had a separate meeting with Sal Vasta and his team from KB's Wholesale division.  Their goal is to develop and maintain strategic relationships to sell toys and provide merchandising services to other retailers and business partners.    We are exploring opportunities to work with this division of KB in order to expand Nick's presence in alternate classes of trade. We will keep you apprised of any opportunities.

Blue’s Clues:

Nick to follow up with KB regarding Blue's Room support in the back half of '04.

SpongeBob:

Nick to work with KB to develop a promotional overlay.

Nick met with the Girls and Boys Buyers to discuss 2004 Property and Product Initiatives.  Overall, TRU’s main objectives continue to be driving traffic to their stores and being able to offer their customers exclusive and/or first-to-market product opportunities.  Below is a recap per property.

Dora

Dora business is strong at TRU.  We currently have 11 ft. of Dora space within the Girls section.  TRU will continue to strongly support this property in 2004.  They are also interested in a promotional opportunity for Spring ’04 (pre-Easter)and we anticipate strong support of Dora Fairytale in the Spring.

Blue’s Room

Although the preschool buyers weren’t in this meeting (we met with them on 10/3) TRU expressed interest in the property and was excited about the new direction with the live action.

SpongeBob

TRU has had spotty success with SB toys, some performing well and others not as successful.  They will continue to support the property on an item by item basis.  Per their request, we will set up time in January to present them with SpongeBob movie.

Fairly OddParents

Product is selling well and will be merchandised out of the Girls area moving forward.  TRU is interested in a potential promotional opportunity for Spring ’04 (pre-Easter).

everGirl

Buyers are looking forward to seeing the doll line.

Series of Unfortunate Events

Buyers are in the process of deciding what properties to support for Holiday ’04 and would like to see product.
