CEL Communications and Entertainment Limited Hi there and welcome to another movie in the Bill Collins movie collection and thank you for your wonderful response. I know you're going to be excited about The Secret Garden, one of my favorite movies for many years. The Secret Garden is a wonderful adaptation of the novel by Francis Hodgson-Vernitt which has been popular for so many years this century. It's regarded as a great novel, not for children, not for adults, for everybody. The screenplay was written by Robert Ardrey, an interesting writer. The music was composed by Brutus Vow Carver and you're going to feel the suspense and tension even during the credit titles. The star of The Secret Garden is Margaret O'Brien, probably the most talented child star ever in Hollywood movies. Margaret O'Brien is seen in the film by the way very early with her own collection of dolls or part of her own collection. The doll that she smashes was provided by the property department at MGM. Herbert Marshall is co-starred with Margaret O'Brien, an interesting characterization, somewhat mysterious. It's Colin Dean Stockwell, what a talented boy. Brian Roper plays Dickon. I'm sure you're going to love Dickon, he's a very likeable, warm, friendly boy. Here are two interesting supporting characters played by Isabel Elsome. She's the one who has a kindly face and the haughty one is the famous Gladys Cooper, a wonderful actress. Elsa Lanchester, what a delight. She plays Martha and she is splendid, what a contrast she is to Margaret O'Brien in some scenes. Norma Varden plays the nurse. We should always watch out for Norma Varden in the film, she's wonderful. And here's Reginald Owen, he also appears in Rosalie with Nelson Eddy and Eleanor Powell. Reginald Owen plays the gardener and he has secrets. He's an interesting character. This scene with the skipping rope is particularly good. There are the three children, three remarkably talented children. Watch out for Jimmy the Raven, he's a very clever character. He made his movie Debu in Frank Capra as you can't take it with you. The secret garden, a wonderful story and every time you see it you will find so much more. And by the way, the scenes in the secret garden you'll never forget. The secret garden is a very special film. Next time you see it, don't miss a word. Every line of dialogue carries some interesting meaning. As I said earlier, there are layers in the secret garden. It's a film to be explored and relished again and again. Read the book if you can, it's wonderful. I'd like to remind you there are three other new releases in the Bill Collins movie collection. I love them all. Rosalie. Rosalie stars Nelson Eddy, Eleanor Powell, Ray Bolger, Alana Massey, a wonderful cast, cast of thousands actually, and wonderful Cole Porter songs. Ziegfeld Follies, one of the most extraordinary musicals ever made at MGM and look at the dazzling cast featured and there are many more in the film. And Son of Lassie with Peter Lawford, June Lockhart, Donald Crisp and Nigel Bruce. A very exciting adventure set during World War II. I hope you'll look at another movie from the Bill Collins movie collection, very soon. The more you see them, the more you'll love them and the more you'll want to see them again. And if you'd like to, don't hesitate to drop me a line, care of your nearest CEL office. As soon as I can, I'll get back to you with a reply. CEL, Communications and Entertainment Limited.
