Black Snails in a Hurry. This is a character building story about patience. And one thing we learn about patience is, it's being content to wait. Building character to last your whole life through. Character building will build a better you. On the banks of a quiet stream in Agape land, lives a snail named Herbert. He lives with his mother and father and all his brother and sister snails. Now as you may know, snails are not usually very exciting creatures. They move very slowly. And because it takes them so long to get places, they don't go to many parties or picnics. They just don't have time. But the snail children do go to one special event every year, the Flea Brothers Flea Circus. One year, when the day of the circus came, Mother Snail got the children up very early. She polished their shells and curled their antennas. Then with Herbert in the lead, they all headed down the snail trail. They had plenty of time. As they walked, they talked about the circus. Remember the flea bag boys? asked Herbert. They can juggle anything. I hope the flea clowns are here this year, said his sister. And the fleas trapeze, said older brother. I just want some yummy snail snacks, said the littlest snail. He rubbed his tummy. They could hardly wait to get there. Finally they rounded the last bend in the trail. They could see the tops of the circus tents far away. But between them and the circus was a long line of creatures waiting for tickets. Oh dear, said the younger snail. Now we'll never get in. I hear the music starting, said sister snail. We're going to be late. I don't think I can stand in this line a minute longer, said big brother snail. I've got an idea. Let's go around the back of the tents and crawl in there. You mean sneak in, said little brother. Well, you want to see the circus, don't you? The older snail replied. The other snails agreed to the idea. They were ready to hurry to the tents, which would have been a funny sight. Whoever heard of snails hurrying? But Herbert had a different idea. We just need to be patient, he said. He moved forward a short step to keep his place in line. Patience means being content to wait. In fact, I know a little song that'll make waiting more fun. Well, okay, said little sister snail. Teach us the song. You can probably imagine Herbert singing to his brothers and sisters on the trail. When you're waiting in line and it's taking some time And you're tempted to fuss and fret Here are things you can do so you won't lose your cool In a song so you won't forget Pray a prayer, add a song Thank the Lord in everything And you'll see how easy having patience can be Pause a while, add a smile Take a turn in everything And you'll see how easy having patience can be There is more to this song if you just sing along You can spell out a melody It's so easy to do, every line has a clue And you start with the letter P Pray a prayer, add a song Thank the Lord in everything And you'll see how easy having patience can be Pause a while, add a smile Take a turn in everything And you'll see how easy having patience can be God is not in a hurry, His love is never late When you know not to worry, it's not so hard to wait Pray a prayer, add a song Thank the Lord in everything And you'll see how easy having patience can be Pause a while, add a smile Take a turn in everything And you'll see how easy having patience can be Remember, have patience Look, Hamid cried the littlest snail when the song was over We're almost there! And he was right The snails had had so much fun with the song, they hadn't noticed a line moving Suddenly they heard shouting up by the tents A man was holding two young ants and talking very sternly So you were trying to sneak in from the back, he shouted Out you go and don't come back With that he pushed the two ants out the circus entrance Boy, oh boy, said the snail who had first talked about sneaking in We could have been kicked out if we'd tried that I'm glad we were patient, said Older Sister Thanks, Herbert Soon each snail got a ticket and went into the main circus tent The jugglers, the clowns, and the fleas trapeze were all there It was even better than they remembered The snails decided it was worth waiting for after all When you are in a hurry, why is it always so? That someone right in front of you is being very slow The next time that it happens and you think you're gonna pop Here's the very thing you need to know You're not alone You're not alone You're not alone You're not alone You're not alone You're not alone You're not alone You're not alone It's the very thing to do so you won't blow your top Have patience, have patience Don't be in such a hurry When you get impatient You only start to worry Remember, remember That God is patient too And think of all the times When others have to wait for you There isn't any secret to waiting patiently Because when we love each other it's as easy as can be Love is always patient and love is always kind Love is always willing to be very last in line Have patience, have patience Don't be in such a hurry When you get impatient You only start to worry Remember, remember That God is patient too And think of all the times When others have to wait for you Have patience, have patience Don't be in such a hurry When you get impatient You only start to worry Remember, remember That God is patient too And think of all the times When others have to wait for you The Song Without a Heart This is a character building story about peace And one thing we learn about peace is The feeling that comes from doing what is right Building character To last your whole life through Character building Will build a better you Nancy's short round fingers looked small on the black and white keys Of her music teacher's grand piano And those fingers kept hitting the wrong keys No matter how hard Nancy tried to stop them Nancy knew she hadn't practiced the piano enough And it showed I don't understand it, Miss Cremble said You are just not playing as well as you should be by now Nancy could see the disappointment in her teacher's eyes She swallowed hard She knew what the next question would be Have you been practicing regularly, Nancy? The teacher asked Nancy didn't know what to say Her teacher had tried so hard to help her And Nancy hated to make her sad So she told only half of the truth Which really isn't the truth at all I practiced, she said She didn't say that she'd only practiced for ten minutes one afternoon Before going swimming with her friends Miss Cremble shook her head The end of the year piano recital is next week, she said I do hope you can be ready I worked really hard, Nancy promised And she meant it She wanted to make up for not practicing before And for not telling the truth That night, Nancy didn't feel like eating supper She didn't sleep well either In the morning, her eyes were red from crying What's the matter with you, Stevie asked? Oh, I'm just thinking about my piano recital And Nancy trying to smile Why don't you come to the park with me, Stevie offered We'll have fun and then you'll feel better Nancy sighed No, I should stay home and practice Alone at the piano, Nancy practiced and practiced In fact, she practiced every spare minute for the rest of the week Finally, it was the day before the recital Nancy could play every note of her piece correctly But she still felt something was wrong She put her head down on the piano and sighed I wish the music machine could play this song instead of me, she said Suddenly, she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder Nancy said a friendly voice She looked up To her surprise, she was not in her living room anymore She was sitting in a meadow in Agape land Next to her stood Mr. Conductor and his music machine What's the matter, Nancy? He asked kindly Oh, Mr. Conductor, my piano recital is tomorrow, Nancy said And my piano piece just doesn't sound right She told him everything She even told him about the lie she'd said to Miss Kremble That is a problem, Mr. Conductor agreed But I think the music machine can help us Let me see your music Nancy handed him the pages And he carefully placed them in a slot on the side of the machine Whirr, whirr, tk tk, boom boom, psst The machine rattled and hissed Then out came the song Nancy had been practicing But it sounded different, very different It went like this Oh, Mr. Conductor That's beautiful. So, so peaceful, Nancy said. Why can't I play like that? Music is more than just notes, the conductor explained. It comes from the heart. If your heart is peaceful, your music will be too. My heart isn't peaceful, Nancy admitted. I guess I need to talk to my teacher. I should tell her I lied and tell her I'm sorry. Just thinking about it made Nancy cry. And Mr. Conductor handed her his handkerchief. But the tears felt good, because now Nancy knew the right thing to do. I'd better go home now, Nancy said. Yes, I think so, said the conductor. And you know, I think tomorrow you're going to sound just as good as the music machine. Nancy laughed. I don't know about that, she said, but my heart will be peaceful. But the recital the next day went very well, and Nancy played beautifully. But the best part happened before it even started, when she hugged Miss Krembl and told her the truth. For then Nancy had a song of peace inside. And that's what was really important. Peace is when you're singing through a storm, through the night. Peace is when your heart is right. Peace is when you know God loves you so. Where Jesus is, there is peace. Peace is when you're listening to the wind through the trees. Peace is when your mind's at ease. Peace is when you pray for each new day. Where Jesus is, there is peace. You're safe within His hand when He is near. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Your heart is free to rest away from fear. For Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Peace is when you snuggle safe and warm in your bed. Peace is when your stories ring. Peace is when you feel sweet dreams are real. Where Jesus is, there is peace. You're safe within His hand when He is near. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Your heart is free to rest away from fear. For Jesus is the Prince of Peace. You're safe within His hand when He is near. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Your heart is free to rest away from fear. For Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
