A&E returns to Tchaikovsky's Christmas classic, The Nutcracker.
The Nutcracker hasn't always been the holiday classic it is now. When it premiered in Russia on December 17th, 1892, 102 years ago, it was a failure and fell out of the repertoire.
It wasn't until a revival in San Francisco in 1944 and George Balanchine's production in New York ten years later that The Nutcracker became an inextricable part of the Christmas celebration.
