The Australian Bureau of Criminal Intelligence says it will take action to stop the leaking of confidential reports it prepares for the Government. The Chairman of the Bureau's Management Committee, Mr Peter McCauley, says leaks are becoming so common and being done by people in such high places that it now appears to be almost acceptable to leak documents. Mr McCauley was commenting on the publication in a number of newspapers of sections of a confidential report prepared by the Bureau of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Gang.
